Heart of Stone (2023)
It's not good
It's part person of interest but done poorly, part bond but done poorly, part mission impossible but done poorly.
Again another women in power film and again it dull and boring and too long.
I must admit the premise of this was interesting, an agent working of two different companies, if they stuck with this throughout, this would have made this a lot more fun and entertaining, but once the true plot of this film kicked in, it became your run of the mill action film.
I can't even recommend this even if you have nothing else to watch, I wanted to turn this off after an hour but stuck it out in the hope that they might surprise me and try something different, sadly no.
No Time to Die (2021)
It's all but a Bond movie
My first reaction was, is there a scene after the titles.
Then I felt empty, like something was missing.
Now, a few hours after I think I know what that something is.
This isn't a Bond movie, it has all the characters, it has the action, and bloody good action scenes they are too, but it doesn't feel like a James Bond movie.
The music is forgettable, I think I read comments were someone has said they have taken OHMSS music and updated it.
The plot is also a rework of the same movie, OHMSS and tagging on the continuation of the romance between Sawn and Bond. Which to me feels old and boring, we had all this with casino and Vesper, but to have Bond and Swan's romance continue, feels to me goes against Bond in the books.
There are some funny lines in this movie which I think I was the only one to get, the lines called back to previous movies and I thought were good.
Malek is probably the second worst Bond villain, take him out of this movie and you wouldn't miss him.
You could have the main henchmen play the opening scene and in the woodland and it would work just as well. Then use a computer generated Joseph Wiseman play Dr No on the island, it would work just as well if not better.
They gave Malek no memorably lines and zone presence.
Felix is useless yet again, how the man got a job in the CIA is beyond me, he doesn't know the person he's working with is rotten. This is just poor writing for a great actor, he's more memorable than Malek and he has less screen time and lines, that probably includes all the movies he appears in.
The ending, to me they have written themselves into a corner. Does this now mean they have set a precedent for every new Bond actor they are going to do a reboot or are they saying Daniels Bond was a mini break in the series and we are now going back and following on from Brosnan?
It will be interesting to see how they deal with this. People will say and are saying the next Bond should be black. I think he should be and always be a white man, people will then says why and my reply will be because he's white in the books.
The reason I will give for this answer is that no white man can play a black character without there being a massive uproar, and quite rightly I might add, so why shouldn't there be that same uproar the other way round.
This movie is alright, long entertaining but doesn't feel like a bond movie, to me.
Bonding (2018)
Season One 👍 Season Two 👎
Loved season one it was new, interesting and very funny. The episode's had no fat on them, they didn't fall into the traditional format of use sitcoms/dramas.
Then season two through all that out and added all the traditional stuff in. The way the creator took the criticisms by the BDSM community has affect season two and not in a good way.
Season two goes out of its way to correct the mistakes they made and in doing so made the season dull.
The over correction drags and slows the second season down. Now I don't know the BDSM scene and I wouldn't know if the first season portrayed it correctly, i wouldn't care either way, and from what I read it didn't, but I wasn't watching the show for a real portrayal of the BDSM scene, if I wanted to know about it I would watch a documentary.
I laughed during the first season but not has much in the second, I looked at my phone during the second season, I didn't in the first.
Also the writing to me isn't as good as the first, the plot twists can be spotted by a blind person, they are that signposted it's like a man talking over the scene say take a note of this it might become relevant later, wink.
I also noticed that what happens to one of the leads also happens to the other, for example if something good happens to one it also happens to the other and it's they same if something bad happens.
I would recommend watching the first season 100%, the two leads are really great, they are soo watchable and pull you into there lives and you care about there friendship. The episodes flyby and you notice and you wish they were longer, whereas season two they episodes appear to drag, and the plots write themselves, the setups for later episodes are so in your face it's disappointing, only watch season two if you have to. If there is a season three well, I think I already know the arc and so will you if you watch season two.
