Winnetou - 1. Teil (1963)
A western-fairytale
This movie, while it certainly entertains and excites, is very imaginary and not even a remote representation of what would have really happened. It doesn't have to be, I just wanted to get it out there. It has a lso aged quite a lot, and not very much in a good manner, the story is simple, the bad guys are clearly depicted and all in all it just brews down to a generic mush.
An exciting one, but still a mush.
Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
Monumental Milestone
This movie certainly looked ahead of its time, but what gains in effects, it loses in storytelling. It's just so predictable, it's just a retelling of the old Greek story, and that sure is nice, but that also makes it more unremarkeable.
Glory (1989)
A Historically-Accurate War Movie
Glory is a movie about the American Civil War that decides build up its characters for, like, 2 hours only to have them all brutally die in a suicidal assault on a fortress held by the Confederates.
I guess this should've had some sort of emotional impact on me, but the fact, that it drags on for such a long time only to explode in a 20 minute battle-sequence left me pretty cold.
Un genio, due compari, un pollo (1975)
An alright Western
I've watched this movie in German and with many Terrence Hill movies, the German translation might often deviate heavily from its original script.
It's incredibly cheaply produced - the explosions and action sequences aside - which you can see almost everywhere. I don't know, if that's usual for Terrence Hill movies, but I almost lost it in the end, where "Nobody" holds his final speech but the camera never shows his face, all while constantly panning over the other character's faces, yet only showing "Nobody's" hands.
Also its very slapstick-heavy, which often falls flat with me.
I might recommend this, if you like Terrence Hill movies, but for others this isn't really worth watching.
