Waco: The Aftermath (2023)
You MUST watch this!
Short answer would be, it's a great story. The actors were good, i believe the story was fair, and I can't wait for more shows like this one.
As someone who is neither American nor Christian, and I'm not even white! :p so i can honestly say I have no horse in this race, and yet i watched this series and the prequel twice! That's how good this is
As for the story, it was really deep, and it made me ask myself lots of questions! Questions that I perhaps wouldn't have thought of, had it not been for this show. For example, even though koresh was a false prophet, was it really OK to judge, punish and/or kill his followers, for believing his false prophecies? His prophecies about the events at waco weren't even wrong! It's just that he was lying about being the messiah,I believe. Is it wrong to lie to people about god? Yes, but then again, there were hundreds of religions throughout our history, and many of those religions are proven to be false and/or wrong! Which means there were people who lied to their followers about talking to some god, long before koresh thought of the idea! Do we treat all those believers, some of them still living among us today, and believing in their ancestor's mythologies, as cultist or terrorists? No we don't. How many of today's religions and branches of religions or ideologies, are going to be remembered as BS in tomorrow's history books? Does that mean we should prosecute the people who bought them? I believe not. So with that piece of advice, I invite you to watch/rewatch this mini series, and judge for yourself, who was right? Guns or no guns, the ATF had no rights to invade and kill all those people in their home, without any provocations.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Read this if you want to know what's wrong with SN
I'm sure there are hundreds of reviews discussing the good aspects of this show, and I agree with most of them, but in order to balance things. I want to point and discuss some of the annoying parts that made me stop watching this show several times.
First off, it's really inconsistent! Rules of the show and it's universe changed every two or three seasons, just so it's more convenient for the writers! The power of angels and demons changed constantly, sometimes they had enough power to bring someone back from the dead, and sometimes they didn't even had enough power to heal even themselves! Good characters became bad and bad characters became good on a whim!
Besides, most of the problems in the show could often be solved with just a phone call, sam and dean knew the most powerful beings in the universe, king of hell! Several archangels. Godssss!!! And god's sister! Witches and wizards! And so on... yet every time they had to get their hands dirty and noses bloody to solve cases!
Sam and dean were on the FBI number1 wanted list a few times! Yet they posed as FBI agents all over the country, and it seems no one remembered their faces or their names! Not even cops and real FBI agents! Which was pretty annoying!
God used to be hands off, but in the end he was hands all on!
The impala was destroyed and smashed and burned several times, yet they fixed it like it's a toy car!
Warding and spell had different levels of effectiveness based on the episodes, and every few season came a new game-changing weapon or revelation or spell or whatever, and after it's purpose was fulfilled, it was either forgotten or useless!
Sam and dean came back from the dead more times that I can remember! Yet everyone else had only one shot! Even if they were more important, more powerful than sam and dean! Bobby, crowley and john, amongst others!
Castiel was the most inconsistent part of it all! His powers changed constantly! So did his beliefs! And since he became gay for dean after being in love with a female demon(meg) i'd say his personality and sexual preference was also changed! He was resurrected by god and by the empty and others, yet in the end he was just gone! Not even jack brought him back!
Heaven, remember when there were only 9 angels left and heaven was shutting down? Whatever happened to that story line after all the arch angels died and castiel was gone? Did i miss it?
Oh yes, jack made more angels when he wasn't even god! Sure! That's convenient! He is more powerful than all the angels! But he couldn't bring back anyone from the dead, he couldn't travel to heaven or hell, and he was powerless against all cosmic beings, death, empty, god, amara, asmodeous and others.
There are many many more issues with the show, but it was long enough for me to forget most of it unfortunately...
The Last of Us: Look for the Light (2023)
Sooo generic and not nearly as emotional
I'm a last of us fan. I've played the game god knows how many times! I played it i think 5 times on ps3 and twice on ps4! The events on episode 9 wasn't nearly as good or as emotional as it was in the game! In the game, they let you digest what's about to happen, the suspense, the long journey, all the small talks with ellie before you reach the hospital, and then BAMMM! Ellie s gonna die, what are you going to do about it, huh?? Then comes the music, all the people you had to kill just to save your little girl.. it was awesome! The show was like a summary of what went down! No emotions i'd say...
The Last of Us (2023)
So what's the point?
Overall not a bad show, I just don't see the point why last of us needed to be a mini series? Can't we just let it be a good game and leave it at that? I mean no offense the show is done well and the actors are good but...
I mean naughty dog is yet to release last of us for pc! So there are still gamers out there who never had a chance to play the game and yet people who had never heard of it get to watch it on HBO?
Assuming they're going to make last of us2 as well, it's gonna fail anyways! It was bad enough having to play as abby, and now we get to watch more of her! Just awesome I'd say!!
The Man in the High Castle (2015)
such shame...
Well,i really liked the story, and i enjoyed most of the show, but my problem is with the way the writers handled this story, idk if it's exactly based on the book or it's just using the book as a premises for it's own story, but it's awful either way! First of all, why was the entire show just about america?? Hello? Aren't we forgetting something?
I would have loved to have a glimpse of what it's like in the rest of the world! Are the none white countries resisting under Nazis or have they somehow adapted? Idk maybe like honorary aryans as they called the japs? What's going on in Berlin? What's going on in tokyo? Maybe show a bit more about the two empires who own the world!? No? Ok then let's just focus on this one girl and hope no one asks how is it that all these random people have magic teleportation powers!?
It's like making a show about living on a different planet, but instead of explaining or expanding on all the cool space-travel stuff, they focus on the relationship between two space travellers who cannot F because of 0 gravity!!!...
and the ending, barely was an ending! It was more like a forfeit! It was like as if the writers realized finishing this story is beyond them,so they decided to call it a day and go home!?...
The Man in the High Castle: Fire from the Gods (2019)
Awful ending
I still cannot believe that it is over! So much potentials,so many story lines! They could have easily made 3 more seasons! The battle for Denver in episode 1 of season 4,could have been an entire season all on it's own! But nevermind i guess! Never mind the fact that you have such a unique, and fantastic story line to go with! Let's just rush to a vague and happy(?) ending! People will figure it out! Yeah we opened a portal to some parallel world and there are all these unknown civilians coming over from the other side, none of the explodes, none of them knows why, let's just all go live in a fascist america that is in the middle of a civil war and possibly a world war?... uh it's ridiculous! I'm done...
