Tornado Warning (2002)
Some terrific actors, but lacks all sense of logic
Sorry, but if I try to give people info that'll save their lives, and not only do they NOT wanna hear it, they take a dismissive attitude toward me, I'm not gonna risk jail or my own safety to keep trying to save them from themselves! Letting people like that die due to their own stupidity is nature selection at its very finest! In my version of the movie, the folks who do take the warning seriously shelter, and all the rest are pulled limb from limb by the twister. I'd certainly have all sorts of mannequin limbs with ketchup and other goo as part of the special effects *lol*. Gerald McRaney's talents were definitely wasted on this turkey of a film!
SST: Death Flight (1977)
A fun trip back in time
I love these old made-for-tv movies - they're an insight into an earlier time. And seeing these old beloved actors is a real pleasure. Really, the only way I could have enjoyed this more is if they'd taken a more realistic approach to the lethal virus aspect of the situation. I think the air traffic controller in France should have notified the French military of the threat in the sky, and the French military should have ordered the SST out to sea and then scrambled some fully-fueled and armed military jets to shoot down the sst. To be sure that the virus and all the people who might be carrying it are fully destroyed, the military should aim their planes at the sst wreckage on the sea, and then eject. Kaboom! Flambé!
Airport '77 (1977)
Drop A Depth Charge, Already!
What a relief there were no animals on this plane - made my solution for shortening this dumb film that much easier! For Pete's Sake - a copilot who is so incompetent he slams a plane into a buoy at sea, and despite only ONE engine out of FOUR going out, STILL can't keep the plane outta the ocean??? Dearie Me. And it very much offended my sensitibilities that some folks died while others lived - much better to have a more even outcome! As soon as the plane was discovered, I would have ordered a ship to drop a depth charge on the fuselage. Plane blown apart, everyone drowns, bodies blown apart - easier dining for the sharks!
Emergency!: The Convention (1979)
Was this some sort of contractual obligation?
Always good to see Johnnie & Roy together, but the rest of the cast does nothing for the show, the situations are hokey and contrived, and the show easily could have been over and done with within half an hour (at most). My biggest peeve is in the final rescue, when a so-called top secret lab (a collection of ramshackle wooden buildings with stern signs demanding ID be shown) blows up. The rescuers do NOTHING to try to save the poor lab animals, focusing instead on rescuing the a-hole scientists who torture and kill the animals. If Roy had gone in a trotted out happily with all the animals in their cages, announcing his decision to foster them until he can find loving homes for them, that would have saved this whole viewing experience for me. One hopes the careless smoker who caused that inferno died of his injuries!
