Poor Things (2023)
I wish I hadn't watched this
I watched this for the performances and to see what the fuss was all about but even the actung couldn't save this film for me. I enjoyed the first part, thought it was even quite funny. I thought it was a take on Frankenstein which I would have enjoyed.
However, the minute Bella started having sex with anything that moved was when the film lost me. It is basically a porn film and the fact that this woman actually has a baby's brain makes it even worse.
It wasn't clever, it didn't make me think, it just made me feel like I needed a shower after it. And the scene where the dad is having sex and his two children are making notes? Can anyone tell me what the need for that was? Made me feel sick.
I am sad that as a society we give awards to films that promote these sorts of topics. I have no clue what the message of the film was, I won't be recommending it and I'm off to bleach my eyes to try and forget about it.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Amazing, moving performance by Rami Malek
Wow... I was actually speechless after watching Rami Malek's performance in this. Such a moving film, I found myself in tears several times at Freddie Mercury's loneliness which was a clear focus of the film. He really was a musical genius and gone far too soon. Rami Malek captures his mannerisms completely. The only thing that would have improved it for me would be that the final Live Aid performance be the actual footage of Freddie, especially for those that have never seen it before. A superb film, the casting is spot on and quite simply the best performance I have ever seen an actor give in Rami Malek.
Grown Ups 2 (2013)
Terrible
I mean, I love Adam Sandler but this is the worst film I think I've ever seen. No plot, totally unfunny, I just don't get how it can be so wrong. I didn't laugh once and I literacy laugh at anything.
DI Ray (2022)
Brilliant
Don't listen to the negatives on here, watch for yourself. Gripping drama and lovely to hear real Birmingham accents. Acting is superb and storyline keeps you watching.
A Week Away (2021)
Loved it!
I thought this film was brilliant! A great family film with a lovely message. Yes there's a Christian theme but so what? Great songs and you'll feel good after watching it. Nice to see someone brave enough to make a Christian film knowing that so many haters will have a problem with it based on that alone.
