Corner Gas: Hook, Line and Sinker (2004)
The Sign!
"Eat at The Ruby and get gas".
"If you think our bathrooms are dirty, you should see the kitchen".
"Karen slept with Hank"
Some examples of the fun the gang is having with the new advertising sign outside Corner Gas and The Ruby.
Excellent sub-plots and guest stars galore. As you can see by the rating, I really enjoyed this episode from Season 1.
Lots of entertainment with the messages on the sign. Not to mention business is great due to customers excited to see the latest message on the sign.
Brett & Wanda have some fun at Oscar's expense, when Oscar goes back to Corner Gas to retrieve a can of Alphagetti he forgot. They make Oscar think his memory is going.
The fishing trip with Karen & Hank is priceless. After Hank drives Karen crazy on the way to the lake, Hank turns into a different person. He poetically describes the lake, fishing, etc....
Karen becomes quite aroused with Hank's charming talk. It's fun to see what happens next. I'll leave there as I've probably spoiled too much.
My personal favourite episode from Season 1.
Corner Gas: Fun Run (2005)
"Lacey's kinda slow" - Wanda
Being disabled, best thing that ever happened to me." - Oscar
Hank can barely pass the very simple crossing guard test.
Lacey can't convince Brent to join her running club. (Is that any surprise)!
There is quite a bit going on in this episode. It all comes together nicely thanks to the company of actors and director.
It comes to Lacey's attention that Wanda is training for the Dog River "10K Fun Run". Karen joins her club but is much faster than Lacey, as is Wanda.
Jan Arden guest stars and is also faster than Lacey. Poor fake handicapped Oscar winds up being faster than Lacey.
The end of the Fun Run is priceless when Oscar gets a hero's welcome, while Lacey receives no fanfare.
I really enjoyed this episode and would recommend it without hesitation.
According to Jim: The Yoga Bear (2009)
A Penny Marshall Directed Episode...
JIm Belushi appeared in an episode of Laverne & Shirley in the infamous 8th & final season. (Of Mice & Men). Time for Penny to direct an episode of according to Jim in its 8th and final season.
Some real good laughs in this episode. Just the thought of Andy walking into a yoga class, would have the class wondering if he were lost.
No spoilers here. One of my faves from the last season. Recommended.
Major Dad: Conduct Unbecoming (1993)
Handled Very Well....
There are laughs in this episode but it takes on a more serious tone. It is handled very well. The company of actors & director did a fine job on this episode.
Highly recommended.
Laverne & Shirley: The Quiz Show (1978)
Superb Episode...
Hard to believe what Lenny & Squiggy settled for.....and were pleased.
The physical comedy in this episode is top notch. Shirley's facial expressions are priceless.
One of the best from this season, if not the entire series.
Highly recommended.
