The Emoji Movie (2017)
How NOT to make an animated movie...
The Emoji Movie is an exciting adventure with memorable characters and complete with hilarious jokes and clever themes! Oh... sorry... that's what you WISH it was. This movie is so unbelievably terrible that Sony had to put SO much effort into Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just to make up for this piece of Sir Patrick Stewart, who, by the way, plays a poop emoji. That's pretty much the movie in a nutshell. But if you want a more extensive answer, the movie is, boring, the characters are, forgettable, the script is, awful, the jokes are, cringe-worthy, the premise is, beyond stupid, the animation is, just OK, and the less I say about the bucket-load of product placement, the better. This may just be the worst animated movie of all time.
Mario Kart Wii (2008)
My favourite Mario Kart game!
Yeah that may not be an original opinion but can you blame me? Mario Kart Wii introduced so many new gameplay features such as bikes, 12 racers, tricks and coin runners, what more could you ask for? Better graphics maybe but it never bothered me that much when the track selection is PHENOMENAL. Coconut Mall, Koopa Cape, Wario's Gold Mine, Maple Treeway, Mushroom Gorge, DK Summit, Toad's Factory, Grumble Volcano, Bowser's Castle, Rainbow Road, all of these are just amazing! It has plenty of ways to contrrol to. The Wii remote which you steer left and right to turn you vehicle, the pro-controller which I don't have to explain but the third is my favourite Mario Kart control scheme, the Wii remote and nunchuck. This works so well and I even use to separate Joy-Cons sometimes when I'm playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it doesn't work as well. And while I admit that game is technically better I will always prefer Mario Kart Wii over any game in the series!
New Super Mario Bros. (2006)
The first game I ever played..
New Super Mario Bros. is a small series that would go on to get less and less innovative with each entry but they hit they managed to hit the nail on this head with 2006 reboot of Mario's classic platforming style, implementing his 3D move-set into a 2D environment and bringing in new features like the mini-games and the addicting and fun as all hell multiplayer mode. It's not graphically impressive and the main game may be a bit to oversimplified but New Super Mario Bros remains the best one in the series and is definitely one of Mario's top 10 games of all time!
The Lion King (1994)
Mona Lisa of animated films
Taking a Shakesphere approach and pushing it to the limit, The Lion King presents a mature yet authentic story while balancing its characters and funny/ dark moments. You can walk up to anyone on the street and ask ''How did you feel when Scar threw Mufasa off the cliff?'' and they'll tell you they were devastated. With its memorable soundtrack, gorgeous animation and amazing ending, The Lion King is not only the best Disney movie, but is quite possibly, the greatest animated movie of all time!
The Incredibles (2004)
Surprisingly unique superhero movie
And I use ''Superhero'' loosely because this film goes for a more James Bond, spy kind of tone, and it fits really well! It also leads to a pretty explicit animated film with the amount of innuendos, death and darkness found here. The characters here have great chemistry (when they're not fighting or yelling), and Syndrome is by far the best villain in Pixar history! It loses points for the animation. This movie... doesn't look that great. It looks fine, don't get me wrong, but everything just looks kinda bland and plastic-ish, especially compared to other Pixar movies like Monsters Inc. or Toy Story 2. But I'm not going to complain much because everything else about this movie is just SO great!
Toy Story 2 (1999)
My favourite Pixar flim!
Toy Story 2 could have EASILY used all the same characters, plot, message and animation of the first movie but instead it took all those and made it better! There are more memorable characters, it goes for a more emotional tone, it looks fantastic (especially for an animated movie in 1999) and it tells an original story about what your place is in not only your own life, but someone else's. Toy Story 3 and 4 were also great but even they couldn't surpass this masterpiece!
