Love and Monsters (2020)
There is more to this, over a post-apocalyptic-sci-fic!!
Love and Monsters-NETFLIX
Read the title again.
Yeah, its not the usual post-apocalyptic-sci-fic with monsters and human emotions.
There is more to this, which is why its a good watch.
Apart from the usual adventure-exploration-love quest
This movie initially impressed me with its minor details.
Towards the end, aside from the promised, I did cherish several moments in the movie.
The climax as such, was very different and much better than the usual
Can't say the movie guarantees take aways for y'all, but I even the felt the whining of the dog.
SPOILERS AHEAD
1. Loved to have felt the attachment of the dog to its initial master
2. The genuine confusion it has while parting ways with the travellers/survivors.
3. The girl having deeper commitments in life
4. The mom element invoked through a robot
5. The glimpse of human emotions of pre-apocalypse invoked at different stages.
6. The value of the initial family, which several fail to notice unless they are away

Nobody (2021)
Only the John wick fans shall watch..!!
NOBODY
From the creator of the JOHN WICK FRANCHISE,
comes the much awaited action/thriller 'NOBODY'.
Though these movies are from the same tailor and is about characters who had a violent past. Its not the same.
Nobody gives you an alternate-older version of John Wick with a family.
John is young, filled with rage, and is pulled back to his old life
'Nobody' has been leading his family life for far too long, which is a facade, and he EMBRACES his past life, as it is his salvation
The movie was less cinematic till the last, and has more real-life stunt sequences.
Like I said, he is an older wick, who gets hit and takes stabs, but doesn't give up. He relies more on experience, over fancy stunts.
This doesn't make it less entertaining, rather more engaging.
I do have a friend, who goes by the name AMG. Yeah! Like the gun. These people crave for real life action, and the salvation one attains through such action, is well depicted in the movie. You would just feel his happiness.
So? Just Dance.

Karnan (2021)
INSANELY INTENSE AND DESERVES THE NATIONAL AWARD
Karnan
Apart from the fact that this movie deserves the next national award, let's have a detailed look.
If you are a admirer of movies like 8Aadukalam, pudhu pettai, Vada Chennai* etc. Dont wait for a second, bcz this is my favourite of all. I would say this is the most intense of all. And here is why.
The previous movies were centered more into the main character, his personal ambitions, and more about himself. However, in Asuran, the seriousness did spread to the family as well. Now imagine, how it will be IF THE WHOLE VILLAGE PLAYS ALONG WITH THIS INTENSITY. If you are someone who experience a movie, I'm sure you cant handle it, because to take in the pain, the shattered dreams, the aspiration of a whole community, is too much for an individual. Which is why I feel, this is an INTENSE PORTRAYAL AGAINST OPPRESSION.
From the director Mari Selvaraj, debut director through PARIYERUM PERUMAL, the movie shook me at several points, including symbolic references. I have never witnessed something like this. I wish you would focus more into these points as well.
The movie has a strong historic touch as well. But MOST SURPRISINGLY, it is not portrayed as a flash back. ITS BRILLIANTLY portrayed by switching the camera angles. Good Grace! On a sunny day, if you capture a video with sun behind you. The characters are bright right? But if its the opposite direction, they would be dark. Its the same thing. But with the music, the movie brings all this historical touch through that. Which is why, ITS THE MOST INTENSE OF ALL. I wish I was better at tamil, so I could even understand the songs and every dialogue :(

Nizhal (2021)
A total *creepy-mysterious-fictitious-thriller* to be experienced best in bigscreens.
Nizhal
If a creepy-mysterious-fictitious-thriller is your cup of coffee. You are in for the best movie in town.
Every mystery movie, generally begins with a situation, and then the rest is a journey to unfold the mystery. It is here most of have higher expectations, and its a huge challenge for every director to over come our conclusions.
So its best to experience this movie as it is.
For me, it had a decent ending and I really loved everything about it.
There are so many new elements in this movie, for which they required CGI. And naturally it would be in line with the budget. So I had focused more into the movie, and it came out beautiful enough for me.
About direction/cinematography, I felt the movie was did my multiple people, because the shots where versatile, and did a wonderful job for different moods. Its so distinct as the movie progresses. The same is true for the OST.
Nizhal, is a total entertainer, and for the full experience, its a better to be watched in big screen.

Nayattu (2021)
A Gripping-Inside-Police-Department Story and a faceless system
I'm surprised to have seen an Inside police department story for the first time.
Directed by Martin Prakat, after 6 years since Charlie (2015), the movie gives you a gripping-intense-situation within the police system. The movie focuses more on the faceless system, and naturally only someone from within could give you more clarity on the reality.
Few scenes of the movie were surprisingly shot in Ramamangalam. A great watch indeed.
Joji (2021)
A slow poison.
Its a slow paced-realistic-crime-drama. Even though the location is a rural-high range, from the direction-cinematography and background score, you wont feel it as a usual mollywood movie.
Eg.)
1. The soundtrack of the movie has more of piano, chello, etc. This sets a totally different mood.
2. The inital drone shots, captures our landscapes as a intro scene of several hollywood movies with converging/diverging roads.
The movie is inspired from the Shakespear's Macbeth, which is the soul. This might be a reason, why the director choose to go with a different sound-track, visuals etc.
I dont want to reveal the plot, but Shakespear did have a way with the deep desires of human beings.
Fabulous acting by Fahad, and noticeable works from the whole crew. Definitely a must watch

Love (2020)
A clever Hitchcockian Puzzle - IE
Love
I would literally say 10/10. Yeah, hear me out. This is the first movie I watched without watching teaser/trailer. The Indian Express had rated this movie 4/5 and called it A clever Hitchcockian Puzzle
This literally defines. This movie is a black-comedy thriller movie, one of its kind and fresh in town. Running time 1 hr. 30 mins, this movie literally grips you tight to your seat, and you would walk out having experienced something new. Yeah, it's not a mass entertainer, but I highly recommend you to watch it in theatres, before people start spoiling the fun for you. -D. R. Adinath.
Monster Hunter (2020)
A decent start for most,
Well what drove me to this movie was the cast. Milia Jovovich notable for Resident Evil, Tony jaa (Tom Yum Goong), Ron Periman (Hellboy). The first phase of every sci-fic movie is about a situation in a mysterious world. The second phase is the justification/exploration of the world. The second phase usually fails to meet the audience expectations. Just like that,
THe first phase was real good. And i personally enjoyed every frame of it,
Including the hand to hand combat of tony jaa and milia jovovich. However, one has to understand that, the movie is inspired from the video game. And when all the characters enter the plot, and the movie unfolds the world more,
It wasn't much appealing for some of the viewers who are not used to the video game.
The Priest (2021)
The first movie which shifts between different genre, with a character with huge potential
I'm pretty much excited about all the new trends in every genre. When the recently released 'operation java' gave you multiple-real-life-thriller plots in a single story . The priest explored into switching between genres of mystery and thriller. I loved their concept of finishing the main story of human jurisdiction, and then switching to mysticism
This style of character definition should be highly appreciated. They have beautifully defined a character with several potential/qualities, which can be further explored even in a later stage. When you watch the movie, I'm sure you will notice this. About big screen watch. The show was house full. To experience the movie without interruptions, one can definitely watch in big screens. For a debut director, it's a fine piece of work. -D. R. Adinath
Observations in detail
I've seen only few movie which can switch between Drama-thriller-mystery etc. The character seems to use an off-roader. The character has detective interests in specific cases. Hence tales about his interests, or origin could be explored in future.
Operation Java (2021)
Multiple-real-life-cybercrime inspired-thriller stories in one movie
Operation Java
What's happening in Mollywood ? Like seriously? Can't believe all this top class versatile movies are happening in one shot. Pretty much they have already compensated well for the loss of 2020. Vellam, Love, Drishyam 2 and now operation Java? Operation Java
It's the first movie with MULTIPLE-REAL LIFE -CYBER CRIME inspired thriller stories in a SINGLE movie. Since the movie 'love' and this still hasn't got much attention, even after getting a 4/5 from I. E. I wanna draw your attention to these highlights. The movie has even included premam pirate leak, tamil rockers and much more
Now a few people out there, when they get bored with one portion, says the movie is lagging. Well, that's their choice. But for me, that's the calmness before the storm
This movie also has such a phase, where the director dives into defining the personal lives of the characters, so that they can connect better to us. And that's just the director leaving his foot off the clutch, to give full throttle to the movie. Jakes Bejoy's killer bgm plays..
Since this movie is inspired from real events, it's also shot as a NATURAL THRILLER (one of its kind) and not as a CINEMATIC THRILLER like drishyam-2. And most importantly,
I'm soo much satisfied with the movies which doesn't have popular stars, cz they would draw most of the attention. Which is why movies like this, can connect you directly to the story/characters. I do recommend this movie to be watched in big screen for the full experience. -D. R. Adinath.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Amazing direction, but is that it?
Contains spoiler. Godzilla vs Kong
If you were a fan of previous 3 movies of the mosterverse, this movie also has amazing direction. However it is very different from the rest 3 in story. Personally, I was very disappointed with this. (You might have a different opinion/ my personal opinion). I couldnt digest all the future tech/ advance tech/ pointless teenagers in the movie. According to me, titans are primitive species, who battle to show the supremacy over the other. The movie tries to show the origin universe of kong, which definitely promises you a nolan-level-adventure trip, but miserably becomes self contradictory. The advanced tech in the movie, makes the movie too much sci-fic. And I am literally tired of all this pointless teenagers, bypassing all security and aiding the titans. The fight sequence I was expecting, was fabulous, but lasted only for some time towards the end,
This was definitely worth a watch. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
They are showing a titan universe. Well, thats acceptable, natural landscape with a few gravity factors. But,
1) Who made the kong sculpture? 2) Where does the axe come from? 3) Why does the axe have a imprint. When you place it there, it magically draws power and godzilla symbol flashes? 4) The lady even says this is an advance technology. Arent they a primitive species? Who made all this even
5) Kong even has a giant throne? Projecting himself to be at the center with a palace? 6) Whats all that thing about scanning energy source? 7) Whats that concept of mechgorzilla having a conscience of its own? 8) Neurological link from the ancient head? 9) This is not pacific rim lol. 10) Literally,? The girl is calls her dad in America, during fight. And he reaches hong kong in minutes. Wow
11) The kids bypassing all security. Gets trapped. Accidentally reveals the whole plan. Sound familiar.? 12) Seriously? Emp for kong and kong setting his dislocated shoulder himself. 13) Kong can speak and comes from advanced tech. But doesnt understand mechgorzilla is the villain. So the little girl tells him. Wow
So many loose ends and humans not having much significance. I felt most roles were an attempt to get them involved somehow.
Mohan Kumar Fans (2021)
A movie with a lot of positives
Mohan Kumar Fans
Kunchacko Boban, is know for family movies. And this movie is just filled with positive content. The setbacks we could face in our life is reflected in the movie and just like in real life, our urge would be to give up without a fight. However, apart from usual tragedies, the movie focuses on overcoming every situation. Just like in real life, every character has had their setbacks, but still instills confidence in one another, when the time comes. The movie focuses on the plight of washed up actors, distributors/producers and hence brings their plight to light. This is exactly why I felt happy to have watched this movie. In a way, I felt I had contributed to them somehow. Its a family-drama movie, and a decent watch. -D. R. Adinath.
