Gojira -1.0 (2023)
Truly a masterpiece. The best Godzilla film till date.
This movie was totally worth the hype building up to it, and totally delivered. Godzilla appears real early-on, and the pacing is good with barely a dull moment, and yet not too action-packed.
Despite the epic CGI effects and battles, this is more than a simple Kaiju movie. The storyline's really deep, and touches upon the horrors of war, and the trauma that follows as well as rebuilding, redemption and starting life anew.
Godzilla is way more terrifying and destructive than most iterations of the character, and the battles are intense and well-executed. This movie was really a work of art, 10/10!
BROK the InvestiGator (2022)
A one-of-a-kind masterpiece Indie game
A very unique indie game that combines a side-scrolling brawler with the "Point-and-Click" detective theme. The storyline is very engaging and there are about a dozen different endings you can get - all depending on the choices you make throughout the game. The graphics fill you with nostalgia for those classic cartoons, the combat mechanics are pretty smooth and fun, and the music's catchy as well. You can tell a lot of hard work went into making this game, and I hope to see a sequel soon!
While the game appears cartoonish, it's suitable for players of all ages as the storyline's fairly mature and intense at times. The voice-acting is perfect and fitting for the characters. I highly recommend you try out this game, it's a hidden gem that's definitely worth your while!
Gamera: Rebirth (2023)
A solid Kaiju adventure in an anime reboot of the beloved franchise
Epic Kaiju battles, smooth animation and an engaging storyline make this a must-watch! One of the best versions of Gamera ever - and the same goes for the other classic Kaiju in the show.
Besides the amazing choreography of the monster fights, the Human characters' relationships and subplots are pretty compelling as well. There are unexpected twists and surprises in the storyline most people won't see coming.
While there was some negative criticism for the animation style, I found nothing wrong with it. The Kaiju are animated in 3D, much like those in Godzilla: Singular Point and this contrast makes them seem all the more larger than life. All in all, a splendid anime and I look forward to a sequel.
