Invincible: I Thought You Were Stronger (2024)
Incredible season finale
Admittedly, it's not as good at the season 1 finale, but I don't think many people expected it to surpass that. Regardless, this is second best episode of the show, BY FAR. The fight with Angstrom was extremely brutal, with the way Mark ultimately kills him and the trauma that ensues. The little references with all the different dimensions was pretty fun too, they balance the comedy and drama incredibly. They went all out with the animation of the fight, and Yuen's voice acting in this episode was some of the best I've ever seen.
Although this season probably won't be held at the same level as the first, it definitely has a lot more to offer overall. I would say its more consistent across its run compared to season 1, though it does spend a lot of time setting up plot points, which is understandable given season 3 is coming soon.
Final Space (2018)
Underrated Brilliance
S1: 10/10. An absolutely brilliant piece of television. Honestly one of the best seasons of sci-fi animation I've ever seen. This is especially true with the finale, which is arguably the best finale of the 3 seasons we got. The countdown intros are honestly the best part of this season, giving the setting of space this feeling of extreme loneliness, which pairs excellently with Gary floating endlessly throughout space for 10 minutes. An excellent and tightly written season.
S2: 7.5/10. Another great season, however he overwhelming amount of characters in this season hinders the development of the plot, which is relatively lost in this season. The first 3 episodes are relatively slow, and rather uninteresting, but a particular high point of the show is shown in the 4th episode of this season, "The Other Side". This episode hits hard in its emotional impact, and honestly could be on par with S1's countdown intros. There are some great emotional scenes this season, though they definitely do not hit as hard as S1's, and the comedy doesn't really help either. S2 still has its great moments, but isn't on par with S1.
S3: 9/10. The only reason this isn't a 10, is because it lacks that special feature such as the countdown intros of S1. This season is by far the most ambitious of the three, going above and beyond with its animation, and character writing. Every single crew member feels like they underwent major development this season, even Clarence who was only in this season for 1 episode, grew from his actions in S2 and helped the team squad out. This is another phenomenal season.
The cancellation of this amazing series is completely stupid, especially when this series honestly did not deserve any of it. This show deserves to be watched.
Rick and Morty: Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort (2021)
Liked it a lot, humor was lacking though
This is probably the direction they're gonna take due to how many episodes they have left. More serialized plots, as the episodic stuff seems to be getting repetitive.
Comedy this episode wasn't great but it still managed to work.
Not my favorite of the season, but it is a strong return to form from what is a pretty mediocre season so far.
Hope the next 2 are just as great maybe even better!
Rick and Morty: Amortycan Grickfitti (2021)
I liked it, but not loved it
I like this episode, at least considering that episode 4 was, ehhh. This one has a bit of charm behind it, although neither of the A or B plots were great, they were pretty good. I kinda hate that Jerry being made fun of wasn't done in a more satiric kind of way. The Morty and Summer plotline was pretty good but it did lose steam pretty quickly after that.
Rick and Morty: Rick & Morty's Thanksploitation Spectacular (2021)
Not bad, just really weird
Rick and Morty, definitely feels different. I haven't found myself hating any of the newer episodes, mostly just increasingly disappointed. This episode was honestly really boring after the first half. I feel like it was a fun and manageable turkey plot until they decided to drive it off a cliff in a what I struggle to even understand second half. It's not even that the newer ideas are bad, just that they executed the second half of each newer episode in a way that could have been great if executed differently.
Final Space: Hyper-Transdimensional Bridge Rising (2021)
One of the best
Clarence's plotline was beautiful. It somehow brings back all the forgotten characters from season 2 and ties up those ends perfectly. They redeemed Clarence, one of the most hated characters of the entire show. They did everything perfectly.
Clarence's death was one of the saddest of the entire series. Actually, every death from season 3 so far has been depressing. They have been destroying this season!
Final Space: Until the Sky Falls (2021)
PERFECTLY DONE
They did it perfectly. Pacing, emotion, everything. They created a gripping, suspenseful episode.
It's genuinely incredible to see how far Final Space has come from season 1 to now.
Final Space: One of Us (2021)
BRILLIANT
Honestly last weeks episode, The Ventrexian, had an amazing twist at the end and that's what made it so great. This week's episode however, is honestly good the whole way through. The B and C plots were both really strong. Plus there were some really great moments in this episode, like seeing HUE getting settled into the ship A. I role again, or even seeing Gary's robotic arm being useful for once, and ESPECIALLY seeing Quinn realizing she only has 36 hours left. And this is excluding the EXCELLENT A-plot centered around Ash. All-round great episode and this might be my favorite episode of season 3 so far, or at least tied with The Ventrexian.
