The Iron Claw (2023)
7/10
One of the Best Sport Drama of Decade
23 March 2024
Biographies are difficult to present in conventional storytelling style that American cinema offered audience for many years. Some of characters stay flat and some eras of this cursed wrestler family's lives seem misfired but acting and directing are top class.

Dynamics are smoothly arranged between brothers and their parents. Drama and Sports lovers will enjoy every moment of this indie film. Efron delivers as big brother of unlucky athlete brothers and as a son of an overly ambitios father.

It is a bittersweet story of family, brotherhood, ambition, love and loss. Enjoy every moment filled with real emotion as it won't last forever and one day hope is all we will have in our hands.

Road House (2024)
7/10
Cool Mix of Action Comedy
23 March 2024
If you like movies that don't take themselves too seriously and that don't claim to be epic, epic, epic with orchestral soundtracks and amazing wideshots, Road House can be just for you.

Jake Gyllenhall is a real force of nature and he lifts every single moment when dull story and dialogues hurt the film. Humour adds positively to violent nature of the very predictable and mostly silly plot that can be easily written by a 15 year old cinema enthusiast.

Conor McGregor more than pulls off what needed from an action genre antagonist and never dissapoints by his acting or existence. This movie is a guaranteef fun time for its great fighting careographies, cinematography and actors chemistry.

Better Than The First But Still Overrated
1 March 2024
The first movie was visually stunning but boring as hell. So basically, the second one was marketed as a masterpiece, best sci-fi movie ever by critics and even compared to best Star Wars movies.

Is it a masterpiece? Or did we watch the same story before in many forms? Matrix maybe? Prophecies, chosen ones and dreams offer same type of premises.

Austin Butler's villian portrayal is nowhere close to Ledger's Joker or Bardem's Chigurh but still PRed agressively as so. Chalamet is a big OK as protagonist. Zendaya is the weakest part actingwise and her California accent doesn't help the spice planet. Villeneuve's directing is maybe flawless but still relies way too much on visual and sound. Zimmer's soundtrack is intense and original as always lifting up scenes one level.

The only difference between Dune and Rebel Moon are a better director and fat studio budget in real. Is it good? Yes, it is but a 7/10 at max. Nothing more.

Talk to Me (I) (2022)

Solid 8/10 for Its Sincerity and Good Scare
7 September 2023
Warning: This movie contains really disturbing scenes and visuals. Therefore I do not reccomend you watching it alone at night. Higher your expectations of getting scared so your adrenaline level keeps you calmer during some parts in this A24 horror masterpiece.

Best part of this film is its flawless sound editing and SFX... Directing and acting are other good aspects. Its dramatic arc is a little predictable but come on this isn't drama genre so no problemo chico... This is some new school hardcore horror genre. I would call it Neo-horror.

Do not show it to your teenager siblings please. It can really harm their psyche. A solid 8.5/10.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
8/10
Keeps Nolan In The Game After Tenetisaster
26 July 2023
Firstly, I am not a Nolan fan. That means I will not overrate and exagerate his averagely good films. Oppenheimer is a great historical drama not because of its directing but because of its interstellar casting from Downey Jr. To Malek, from Pough to Blunt or From Damon to Affleck. Not to mention Murphy who underacts just perfectly. Just wow... Even extras are famous in this movie...

Editing and soundtrack are the two other significant reasons of Oppenheimer's success. Nolan is and was always surrounded with great crew members and post staff. His directing or lack of directing can never keep up with his unique imagination and writing skills.

Go watch this movie because it is an epic Historical Drama not because Nolan fanboys said so... capiche?

Barbie (I) (2023)
3/10
No Way This Is A Good Movie
22 July 2023
Barbie represents opression of women all around the world ruled by men. Ken represents manhood without capitalism or without a genital... blah blah blah...

This movie should not have been a political satire. It should have been a fantasy romance comedy musical such as Entangled or Disney movies. I left the movie theater after its first 30 minutes so if this one didn't turn out to be a masterpiece in the remaining 1:30 hour of its runtime I had much more funtime wandering under hot sun than watching Barbie...

Robbie and Gosling are as good as they could get with this absurd writing and directing.

My rating is 3/10 only for the sake of its starting level production staff, PA, Gathering servants who worked for minumum union wage.

Nope (2022)

Do Not Stare Into His Eyes
25 August 2022
Nope is a solid 7/10 horror thriller made by very talented Jordan Peele. Peele is on the way of becoming the next Shyamalan if he stays away from air bending mutants. Peele's ideas are fresh and fun. His directing is good. Him and Ari Aster are definetly the new princes of horror genre.

Bullet Train (2022)
1/10
One of the Worst of This Year
9 August 2022
This style with fast cuts, flashbacks, absurd characters are so overdone and exploited again and again and again. Tarantino and Guy Ritchie have done the best examples of this style and there is nothing more you can add to that except Japanese fanboys rating extremely higher than what this movie truly deserves.

I do not understand who gives greenlight to this type of disasters. The amount of stupidity and lack of rationality in the story made me wanna cry and smash my head into theater seat in front of me. There is nothing to see here. Except some colorful scenes with A lists who are so eager to destroy their career.

1/10 is too much for this torture of mind.

Painfully Average
26 June 2022
After social media reviews, I thought this movie would be a new horror masterpiece but it is just a gritty jump scare horror flick with reminiscent ingredients from Sinister and Silence of the Lambs.

Screenplay, directing and acting are just enough good so it would not end up being a disaster. There are 3-4 jump scare moments. Other than that, at best this can be a Horror movie for kids who will eventually watch it on internet after cinemas.

Useless characters, meaningless challenges and a way too weak serial killer antagonist who is probably the lost son of Buffolo Bill. This movie adds nothing new to the genre. Its deserved score is 4-5/10.

Runaway (2022– )
5/10
Good Plot, Average Execution
14 June 2022
Kaçis was a very hyped project because of its original plot and production value. Well, let me tell you beforehand, it has originality and good production but unfortunately that is all.

Premise is strong. A war photographer finds himself trapped in a small village surrounded by radical terrorists who also hold his photographer friends that he came along. Cinematography is another strong aspect as well as a decent production budget spent on locations, costumes, sets...

Acting is average but this is mainly because of bad screenwriting. Protagonist makes the worst possible, and possibly the most illogical choices. This makes audience feel like nothing is natural and beats, incidents of the story are pushed by consistently wrong and brainless choices of characters.

Another big flaw is editing and music. There are 10 cuts in every 30 seconds. You don't have to cut to different wide or drone shots or every characters reaction during intense scenes. Music editing choices are not professional as well.

I give it a 5/10 for the sake of production and original concept and story created by talented Engin Akyurek.

Hustle (2022)

Jerry Maguire in Basketball
10 June 2022
Hustle is a big fun train from start to end. It has everything to give its audience a great time if you want something light and feel good. Adam Sandler is powerhouse. Swift editibg and soundtrack are awesome.

The story is very very classic. Do not expect something deep or original. Beats and stakes are so similar to any other making big sports dramas. Like said: Watch it for a good time even if you are not a basketball fan. If you are one this is 10/10 for you!

One of the best Netflix movies I have watched so far maybe the only one that I did not pause or fast forward for a while.

Emergency (2022)
5/10
Good Writing Suffers from Tone Confusion
1 June 2022
Mixing comedy genre with thriller is tough. Grand masters of cinema such as Scorsese, Tarantino and McDonagh can pull this type of filmmaking because their characters are so unique that audience forgets about silliness of the plot most of the time.

Emergency has a few things sorted out pretty good; plot, directing, production. Plot is original and familiar enough however tone is a big red flag. Is it a dark comedy? Well, it is supposed to be but half of the movie is just realistic drama and thriller whereas the other half is absurd comedy. They are like olive oil and water. They just don't mix.

Act three is overly pushed into dramatic character resolution and it just doesn't make sense considering the first two acts are mainly comedy and action. It just feels off. 5/10.

Spectacular Action Movie Delivers As Expected
29 May 2022
I am not a big action genre fan. I prefer realistic action scenes when they are needed in plot. Such as Heat or TDK. This one is easily the best movie of 2022 so far.

Tom Cruise deserves an oscar nomination just because he is killing in those non stunt F-18 scenes. Just wow!

Story is formulaic. There are some cliche characters and expected plot twists but acting and chemistery save it all. I can't complain for cliche dramatic character arcs. TopGun Maverick is all about crazy fun and thrilling action.

You shouldn't miss this one if you like classics because this one is already a classic! 8/10.

The Revenant with More Women
13 May 2022
The Northman is a boring movie with excellent cinematography and visionary directing just like The Revenant of Inarritu. This is the type of movie that you watch until the end because it's epic eventhough it's boring most of the time.

Cast is amazing. Composition of scenes are top notch. Production is worth watching every single detail but... It is still boring. There is no story. There is only a concept. Revenge...

Spectacle CGI Show
7 May 2022
I don't like MCU. However, the first Dr. Strange movie was the best MCU movie because it had a structure, plot, character development. This one has none of those.

The movie is not about Doctor Strange to begin with. It should have been named Scarlet Witch: Never Without My Kids(How I Burnt the World). The story is ridiculous. I forced myself to watch the first half just for the sake of first movie. The second half was a horror show with great VFX and CGI...

It's not PG-13 btw. It is R rated. Especially the second half of the movie is horror genre. To conclude, do not believe fanboys 10, 9, 8 ratings... It is forgettable.

Atmospheric Gorish Drama
29 April 2022
First of all, an overly used cliche Texas Chainsaw teen slasher set up is boldly wasted in the first hour of the film for creating dramatic atmosphere mainly fed by backwoods alienation of hillbilly antagonists.

Secondly, camera set ups and execution of scenes are way too much Tarantino inspired that you almost feel like you are watching a copycat with way worse writing and dialogues.

Is it that bad? No... acting, sound, editing and cinematography are actually pretty decent. That's why it's 2/10.

In conclusion, It is like Hills Have Eyes that wants to be To Kill a Mockingbird.

An Ambitious Flop!
20 April 2022
The story seems appealing but dialogues are terrible. There are few good actors who do their best with their dull and flat characters. Directing is another problem. I am not sure if it is a budget issue or not.

Sci-fi part is cheap. If you want smart audience to like your show, you gotta at least do some more digging on sun explosions and what massively bigger Jupiter planet's role in this case.

My rating is 4/10 just for producers ambition of doing something original. The food and recipe look rich and delicious but tastes bad.

If Dr.Lecter Was A Plastic Surgeon
16 March 2022
Hello Clarice, tonight I am gonna take your butt... This fresh movie starts off as a romance and evolves into a gorish horror with a bit of style. And that directing style with swift editing is the only reason you can be able to complete this whole mess. There is no character development in this one such as you saw in Get Out. Or there is no message at all intentionally or not. If you like the genre you will have a fun time watching it.

The Batman (2022)

Great First Half Struggles at Second
4 March 2022
The Batman's first hour and half delivers great action, story, visuals and characters. It is almost flawless. However movie struggles and becomes a melodramatic mess after focusing on side strories when it tries to be grounded with traumatic characters. Pattinson is probably the best Batman but possibly the worst Bruce Wayne along with Clooney. Bruce Wayne supposed to be a smart sociopath who disguises as a playboy, philantropist billionnaire. In this movie Bruce Wayne walks around like a suicidal addict who struggles with heavy depression. Paul Dano as Riddler and Colin Farell as Penguin are fun and scary and Pattinson as Batman is perfect though... In the end it is nowhere close to The Dark Knight because of melodramatic second half. 7/10.

Legend Ressurected
24 December 2021
It is a greatly written movie. Creativity and originality at its best! However action scenes are way below the trilogy and soundtrack is.... Just terrible. The Matrix trilogy was great because of its milestone action scenes and its philosophy. This one lacks the first one. Boring action scenes but great story. 7/10.

Dune (2021)

This is only the boring beginning
18 October 2021
What to expect from this remake will determine your experience. If you like great 3D visual filmmaking, then you will love Dune. If you expect a story, then let me tell you there is almost none.

First half of the movie contains zero action. You only meet new characters that you have to invest or already know this universe from novels or something. Basically boring but great looking frames, CGIs and VFXs...

Second half of the movie actually delivers some action and character development but it's mostly dark desert journey scenes with two main characters which you will most kijely won't care less.

Villeneuve did his best with this Dune 101 boring orientation and yes, there are millions of film audience who are also looking for a story structure other than 3D experience with popcorn and soda.

Great Horror in 2nd Half of Season
13 October 2021
Yes, it starts slow and gets boring around E3-E4 because of lack of beats. However by the end of E4, the audience jumps on a ride of havoc and terror. E6 contains one of the greatest supernatural horror scene of all time. No scare jumps in this one though... Only true terror of human weaknesses. If you also like debates about Religion vs. Pragmaticsm, you will find bunch of those as well in between. Deeper than Squid Game in my opinion on philosophical terms.

Can't Stand Watching
8 October 2021
Bad directing, bad screenplay, bad editing. The premise sounds promising but stakes are too simple and everything is boringly predictible. Characters are one dimensional. Soundtrack is disturbingly 90s. I am sorry but this is how a crime drama should not be. Watch "Hunting Season" for a much much better Turkish Crime Drama.

Best Movie of 2021
7 October 2021
Along with Pig of Nic Cage, The Card Counter is one of the best movies of this year. Why? Well first of all it has a kick ass anti hero portrayed by amazing Oscar Isaacs. He should get an Oscar nomination with this role easily. Secondly, it is the best writing of Schrader after Taxi Driver. Smooth screenplay and narrative structure... Simple but technically flawless cinematography, great supporting characters are bonuses. 8/10.

Too Hollywood
3 October 2021
The original one was much better in every way except budgetwise cinematography department. This one is a Hollywood version. The main character has unnatural temper problems and his attitudes, reactions just don't seem smooth. The ending is altered according to mainstream audiences tastes as well. It's s 5/10 at max.
