Tethered (2022)
likable characters
The beginning is a little slow and it all LOOKS like Bird Box. There's a blind boy living alone in his secluded house in the woods and one day he finds a nice stranger. The stranger and the blind boy make such a nice pair and I enjoyed seeing their dynamic, very wholesome. I also like that they never specify exactly what the "monster" is. It's left up to your own interpretation. All you get is a visual of the terrifying demonic looking eyes, which I really loved. It was an okay movie, pulled at my heart strings a little, and had pretty good suspense building. I enjoyed the watch once it got past the initial world building.
Personal Shopper (2016)
yes if ur in love with kristen stewart too
The movie felt longggg and reminded me of Enemy with Jake Gyllenhaal. Kristen Stewart's twin dies, then a presence is suddenly telling her to do things she's scared of, be who she really wants to be, etc. It's basically like Enemy except the other her is a Ghost. I liked the visualization of the spirits though. They portray them exactly as the way I have seen ghosts in my childhood.
It was a little too predictable and a little bland. If I wasn't so obsessed with KStew, I definitely would've turned it off. It's one of those movies that after watching you don't feel satisfied. It's all a big metaphor for the fear of the afterlife, our own alter egos, and lingering ghostly presences on earth.
Nope (2022)
disturbing visuals & lingers in your brain
Not as "scary" as Us, or as political as "Get Out" but it was disturbing and will stick with me. Hours after I'm still thinking about it, talking about it, thinking new ideas and also questions. It seemed like more of a sci-fi thriller than a horror to me, but I still enjoyed it. I love the characters and the setting.
The scene with the monkey will forever disturb me and anytime I'll see a strange fog or a cloud, I'll immediately look down.
Anytime the power goes out I'll worry there's an alien flying above.
