Kôdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurûshu (2006)
One of the best anime to ever be released.
This cannot be denied. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is hands down one of the best and well thought anime to ever come out in recent years, with its only rivals being Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note. Even then it outdoes those shows in certain aspects, such as having more likable characters or a darker storyline. It also outdoes most by not only telling most of its story in 25, but by making viewers want even more. But like all shows in general it does have its flaws.
But we will get to that later. The story starts when the Empire of Britania invades and concurs Japan, renaming it Area 11. Britanian Lelouch promises his Japanese friend Suzaku that he will destroy Britainia. Seven years later after Lelouch is done playing chess with a noble, he runs into a group of terrorists who have stolen a gas bomb. After an unpleasant chase by the military and an encounter with Suzaku, they find out that a girl named C.C. is actually inside the gas bomb, but all three are soon surrounded by military personnel. Suzaku and C.C. are supposedly killed with only Lelouch remaining, however C.C. gives him the power of Geass, which will make anyone follow his orders without question. Lelouch reveals that he is the eleventh prince of Britania and his real name is Lelouch Vi Britannia and orders the military personnel to die, and they shoot themselves. Lelouch is shocked for a moment before realizing that he now has the power to finally destroy Britannia.
Pros: Has a dark and interesting story; Can change moods without breaking a sweat; Has a great protagonist and cast; Has a deep political undertone and deals well with socialism; The music is very atmospheric and fits the series very well; Has amazing mecha and character designs; The battles are amazingly choreographed and can often leave the viewer breathless; Can be very surprising, and often times has moments that will throw you off guard; Vocal work is incredible, making the characters even more likable; Makes you want more.
Cons: Only lasts 25 episodes; Goes into sometimes inappropriate slapstick humor and mood at times; Some songs feel out of place; Some character designs can be incredibly horrible to look at.
Other then these flaws the show is pretty solid with a great cast of characters and music. The show hasn't been released in the US yet but should be coming in April. When it does, don't miss it, you'll hate yourself for it.
10 out of 10.
Kidô senshi Gundam Seed (2002)
One of the top ten...
I'll be honest, I am UC fan all the way, but unlike most I can still enjoy this series. I love Gundam SEED and it's unique story telling. Does SEED match show's like Zeta and Turn A, maybe or maybe not, but it's definitely better than others. The character's in this show are fun to watch and interact with each other and that's all that really matter's, isn't it? The battles are also some of the greatest and the seiyu's do a great job with the material they are given. The soundtrack contains some of the best music in anime history and each of the openings are catchy and great to listen to.
Try it, it's pretty good.
Kidô senshi Z Gundam (1985)
The Best Gundam Ever!
When I first saw Zeta Gundam at Fry's I had already heard good things about it. I bought it because I'm a huge gundam fan and expected a lot from it. What I saw surpassed my expectations.
Bad stuff the is that at times it will be confusing to those who haven't seen the original gundam and have only watched Gundam SEED G Gundam, and Gundam Wing. The animations more then 20 years but who cares it still holds up. The English voice actors suck as well.
Good stuff it has a great storyline, excellent characters, awesome mecha designs, great pacing, and some of the best action sequences. The music is also very catchy. If your a long time gundam fan you should buy this series. You won't be disappointed.
