Cruel Summer (2021)
Worth a watch
Fantastic job on the editing and music! I felt the older cast were definitely stronger performers compared to the overused facial expressions of the younger cast; a problem with a lot of young actors today. I did especially love the natural performance of Olivia Holt, but really couldn't take to the dislikable characters of Jeanette and Mallory, who remained as the same psychotic bullies throughout the years, but with different looks. This series is definitely worth a watch, but not something I'd remember in another 10 years or so.
Skater Girl (2021)
Easy to watch
A warm, beautiful journey of a young girl's dream to be something other than what was expected of her. It was so refreshing to watch a simple storyline with a great cast. The photography was stunning and really captured the location. I fully applaud the filmmakers and can't wait to see what other films they will create together.
Queen of the South (2016)
Needed to be in Spanish...
As a fan of the Narcos shows, of course this one would be on my list to watch. I loved the storyline and really felt as though I was on the same journey as Teresa. The leads are especially excellent in the show, followed by a great supporting cast. My main critique would be the lack of Spanish used in the show, which took me out of their world in a way, making it feel more Hollywood rather than authentic Mexico.
Friends: The Reunion (2021)
Welcome back Friends!
As a fan of the original show, I was nervous to hear they were planning a reunion with fears of the most perfect ending of a show being ruined. It wasn't what I expected and really enjoyed the stories, the quiz and table reading sessions. As much as I loved it, it loses a star for me as there was absolutely no need to show Friends fans and celebs talking about the show, when clearly everyone was there to see the main cast. Time could have been better used if they united more of the original cast and saving precious time for this much anticipated reunion.
Shall We Play? (2020)
Watchable...
I actually quite liked the storyline, it got me from A to B and linked all of the characters into the story, which a lot of big budget productions often fail to do. Yes, some scenes could be improved, but I felt that would have come from a 'possibly' bigger budget. My main critique is with the cast... the younger leads were great, but I felt the rest of the cast were either under acting or over acting. It was also missing a lot of the intense close-up shots needed to pace the beats of the film. Not a bad film, but the first half of the film was definitely better.
