Sugar (2024)
Oh! There is a bigger conspiracy!!!
This started out interesting and fell into that same old stupid 'hiden agenda/secret society/black ops' garbage that lazy writers use when their hackery can get them by. Was that an Enigma Machine? Is there an even more sordid group operating in the shadows beyond the standard filth. And Sugar is some John Wick wanna be! He's got almost magical combat skills and a shadowy past. Add these all together and you get a pretty but stupid show like this. I guess Apple is merely hiring the same uncreative writing hacks that are apparently a dime a dozen in Hollywood. I've watched six episodes and I'm going to watch the last two just to see just how much more stupid it will get.
Update for episode 7 - THAT was the plot twist????? Good lord,it has gone from bad to worse. I don't know if it is just lazy writing or bad writers or just plain stupid story twlling
Bottom line - unless you like your entertainment just plain stupid, don't waste your time here.
Old Dads (2023)
It just wasn't funny
I had great expectations for this movie and was really let down. It was funny for the first 45 minutes and then it turned into something else. Whatever it was, it wasn't very funny or remotely entertaining. When you build a script that is based on successful people all of a sudden doing things that are either stupid or just out of the blue. It was so bad that I stopped watching.
The rest of this is to get enough characters to meet the minimum requirement.
The rain in Spain falls gently on the plains.
It's five o'clock somewhere.
You could be mine, but you're way out of time.
A, e, I, o, u and sometimes y.
The Bear (2022)
You can see the acting
Yeah, ok, it's the darling of the 'TV as art' set. But let's be serious here, it tries soooooooo hard to show the depth of the actor's skills that you can literally see it happen on the screen. I don't know if it is improv or what, but it is truly painful to watch people so obviously trying to emote.
That, and you could improve the show a good 5 stars now by simply getting rid of Richie. He adds nothing, over reacts to the most minor of inputs (but he's ACTING!). He's one of those characters that only exists to cause plot movements and it shows.
Ooo and aaaah all you want, but this is at best a mediocre show with a mediocre premise and mediocre writing. I'd have given it a higher grade except for the scene chewing in most of the episodes.
Citadel (2023)
Duuuuuuuuulllllllllll
I was watching episode 3 of this booooring spy thriller (thing? Caper? Whatever) and realised I had missed some pertinent plot point about one of the spies betraying the home team. I momentarily thought about backing it up to find the spot I lost the plot, but then realised I just didn't care. Not even a little. The protagonists are just plain boring and plot moves.....so.....slow.....you have to wonder if at some point time will reverse itself. Then you may have the opportunity to strself from wasting any time by watching any of this clunker. I can't even tell you the names of any of the characters, though the male lead could be referred to as pouty and female could be dumper....you finger that one out.
You've been warned.
Yellowstone: The Dream Is Not Me (2022)
Lazy writing
This show now has the same issue that Billions has - plot devices that have no relation to the way things happen in real life. In Billions it was Chuck showing up at an armored car lot and gets the entire run down of the company fraud from a guy just sitting there (IRL Chuck gets told to pound sand). In this episode, Beth calls the 6666 ranch, and gets a guy on the phone who not only knows just how much beef is sold, but doesn't have the common sense to NOT TELL HER AS IT ISN'T ANY OF HER BUSINESS. And now Jamie is going to do something against his Dad, just out of the blue. Well, I guess he is getting it on with the new Lady McBeth, but c'mon, it is impossible to suspend one's disbelief this much. It's just lazy writing. Sheridan is doing this across all of his series and it shows. And i guarantee thst Beth's plan is going to come into fruition only with the help of the Reservation and all the jobs it will being. I'm not watching this nonsense until I can have all the episodes available and I can fast forward through the lazy parts.
Bent (2018)
So, so bad.
How many ways can I describe it in 550 characters? Putrid, dumb, stupid, badly written, poor story, horrible acting, ridiculous premise, bad pacing, forgettable characters, outrageous film sites, random logic....well, no logic whatsoever, unnamed government agencies, how does a guy who just got out of prison have so much money, and access to a gun, why do they use blackberries?, what was going on with that sex scene?, terrorists eh?, why would Iranians bring a bomb with them from the Middle East and not just make it when they get to 'America'?, good lord what horrible accents, and why was the made?
Tulsa King: Go West, Old Man (2022)
Stupid and lazy writing
Sheridan is being presented as some kind of master story teller, and at one time he may have been. Unfortunately Tulsa King is simply thr latest of a string of stupid premises supported by lazy writing. Old gangster gets out of prison after 25 years and proceeds to piss off all of the new guard in his old gang, punches one of them and walks out alive. Ok, if you say so. Goes to Tulsa where he just happens to meet the one cab driver who is morally ambivalent enough to help him. They drive by a marijuana dispensary and he decides to just walk in and take over. Sure, whatever. Then he appoints his cabbie as his official driver and gives him 50k cash to buy an SUV, which he can't because the dealership thinks he's a drug dealer (not to mention that a transaction that size would require to be reported) so the Tulsa King punches the owner and the deal is done. Whatever. Then he hooks up with a woman who's out on some kind of hen party who just happens to be an ATF agent. Now you are just wasting my time.
This is just bad story telling and sad, lazy writing. And across the Sheridanverse it is just getting worse. I won't be wasting any more of my time on something this contrived going forward.
The Rookie: Feds: To Die For (2022)
Perhaps the dumbest thing I have ever seen
The only reason I even came to watch this was because it was relates to The Rookie (which has its own issues with stupidity, but it is a Sunday weakness so i go with it) and after watching this poor excuse for drama I will now be able to never come back knowing it is total crap. Over acting, when there is acting, left and right goes along nicely with the preposterous storyline and situations. And it looks like they gave this stupidity a second season. Do yourself a favour and pass this one by, it just isn't worth the time, effort or the electricy to watch this nonsense. Seriously, you will thank me.
Devils (2020)
Another brit drama driven by the writer's needs
This is either the third or fourth brit drama that has has to rely on coincidence, clumsy conspiracy or rank incompetentence by characters who are supposed to be smarter than that. It starts off with us finding out that the protagonist has to hide his past, then his ex wife shows up as a prostitute, the hint of a bigger player out there helping the identity hider along and even a 'just smart enough to get by but stupid enough to help when needed' minor character and goes downhill from there. It is just pile of lazy writing and I couldn't even get through the first episode. There is better stuff out there, just go find it.
Outer Range (2022)
Couldn't care less about the characters.....
....even if I tried. Dull and slow, with nothing more than a hole in the ground to make it interesting. Bland people doing things only because the plot requires them to. It just isnt even worth the time to try and get interested in.
The Pentaverate (2022)
Just plain bad
Lets cover what it is not.
Not funny.
Not interesting.
Not entertaining.
Not worth watching.
Not good in any way.
It is just plain bad. Don't waste your time.
The River Murders (2011)
Don't waste your time
It is just an incredibly badly written, badly acted, completely preposterous movie, the only reason it was made had to have been for a tax break. What a waste of time and money.
Halo (2022)
A horse this lame would be put down
Poor story, poor writing, poor CGI, poor acting, just plain poor. Pretty much an Andromda meets Starship Troopers meets some other Canadian filmed dumb as a post Sci fi series. One more hour wated that wasn't worth the effort.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Lord of the Game of A Wheel of Time
Jeff's money could be better spent building moon bases - isn't that what Billionaires with rockets do? - than putting such boring, derivative swords and aorcery junk. So much talking, so many silly tropes and not a single original idea in it. And they have a Samurai, so there's that too.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Just pretty garbage
One more very good looking yet really badly written and uninteresting outing provided by Netflix. You would think that at some point they would learn that the story actually is as important as the presentation. This is just plain boring.
Jolt (2021)
Dumb story...looks good tho
Hard to say who came up with the dumber of the two.... Netflix with Gunpowder Milkshake of this waste of time. Stylish pablum at best.
America: The Motion Picture (2021)
Well, not entirely the stupidest thing I have ever seen.
I worry about the writers, because taking the amount hallucinogens that they had to have taken to write this really has got to leave a mark. Not bad (mostly) but not good either. Maybe have a couple of drinks before you watch, that might help.
Solos (2021)
Pointless
There is no reason to watch this unless you want to watch a bunch of actors 'emotes. Beyond that, there is nothing interesting in any of these pointless segments.
