In Plain Sight: Pilot (2008)
Classic Show Hiding in Plain Sight
This is a review of the pilot written after while finishing season three in reruns. What started out as an interesting but one dimensional idea has birthed a multi-season show, with well developed character arcs that must have been conceived from the beginning.
The show never gets stale as each episode is unique. There are some truly satisfying reveals, yet the main character stays true to bittersweet life choices.
While many of the more popular shows spawned by this network seem dated now, In Plain Sight has outlasted them to stay relevant over time. Sit back, don't over-analyze and enjoy.
The Chosen (2017)
You Don't Have to Be a Christian to Enjoy the Chosen
I have run out of superlatives so I will simply say that The Chosen is the best.
It is evident that great care has been taken to provide solid plot lines, relateable character arcs, crisp cinematography and a great score. The acting is superb. If you are not a Christian, welcome to an experience equal to: The Wire, Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, etc. The show stands on its own merits.
If you are curious about Christianity, there are no preachy messages, simply a personal depiction of Jesus and his followers. Each charactier is three dimensional. Throw in some humor, suspense and inspiration, I defy you to watch and not shed a tear at some point. The Chosen will become a welcome TV viewing experience that you keep you asking for more.
If you are a Christian, watch the Bible come to life. Get out your favorite translation and see the words and stories in a new light. Just ask your friends to come see and let them make up their own minds. Every second or third viewing will contain a new "Aha" moment.
The most difficult part in watching is deciding which is your favorite episode and who are your favorite people.
