Simply brilliant!
7 January 2019
I absolutely loved this show and I hope there's a second season as some point! Tell you what's as funny as the show though! Some of these reviews where people thought it was a real show! Haha. I think my favourite comment from one reviewer was something about it being dubbed was annoying, and why the hell did they put them on when the Romanian actors had done such a good job!? Haha. I think the whole point flew straight over their head! The vast majority of Americans are too lazy to read subtitles, they certainly wouldn't watch an 80s Romanian cop show without it being dubbed. Even in one episode at the beginning Channing & Jon Ronson explain why they went the dubbed route for the supposedly "real show". I'm guessing the reviewer didn't make it to that episode before he'd made his mind up!

It's basically just really silly and over the top with very subtle lines that I personally found hilarious. For me there was a laugh a minute. I loved it from the get go. I'm lucky to have even heard about it really, I'm a huge Jon Ronson fan, of his books, audio books, and films he's credited with so I was just googling what he'd done lately and that's how I came across this, as I'd not heard about it prior, so I'm glad I did that google search as like I said, I really loved the show.

The only let down for me, and which stopped me from giving it a 10, was the ending of the finale, It is an absolutely stupid show with outrageous scenarios but even with that in mind I felt the ending was just a little too much! I won't go into it with spoilers but yeah, I just felt a tad let down with that.

It did say "to be continued" after that last episode anyway so here's to hoping for a 2nd season.

HUMANISING ANIMALS
26 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I Really enjoyed this documentary! It started off like the spoof film "Four Lions". The terrorist doing his video before his "mission" was laughing and joking! Saying he needed to start again as people were making him laugh. It was more like a blooper reel of outtakes than a menancing message of fear! We only ever see pictures and short videos of terrorists where they look scary with their machetes and their guns! This documentary shows them in their own safe spaces messing and joking around with each other before the suicide missions. It's quite strange to see this side of it! It somewhat humanises them! They're just young guys who are very misguided! The playfulness of the documentary doesn't last too long though and before you know it you're not laughing anymore. There's some pretty grim footage of deaths but also some great footage of shootouts, a lot more up close and personal than you seem to see on the news! It's quite a simple documentary in regards to what it's about, it doesn't go too much into politics or surprisingly religion for that matter, it's more just a timeline of events. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would Definitely recommend it to fellow Docu lovers!

Marjoe (1972)

Praise The Lord-ah!
19 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this documentary for the first time last night after coming across Marjoe's name. I was laughing at videos of Jimmy Swaggart on youtube and then decided to look into other cases of Exposed Evangelist's. Obviously in this case though, The exposed has exposed himself! I could tell within the first 5 minutes i was going to enjoy the documentary a great deal, especially an early scene of Marjoe "prepping" all the film crew in the hotel before hand.

Overall, the film flows nicely with shots back and forth of "The Preacher" Marjoe & "The Real" Marjoe. I feel I could have two views on Marjoe as a person really. 1 is that I see him as a kind of Michael Jackson-Esq figure who's had his childhood basically torn away from him and this life forced upon him by his parents and that he cant be held responsible for his actions. Or 2, a very friendly conman as obviously later on in life he went back to preaching as an Adult and that was his choice knowingly ripping people off and taking their money. But, on the other hand as well, I personally don't believe in Religion and If you're blatantly going to just believe that good things will be blessed onto you by God just 'coz you've thrown $20 in a bucket then i think you deserved to be ripped off!

Personally, The one and only let down in this documentary (and if included would have been 10/10) is the fact that you don't get to see the reactions of his parents after hes admitted he doesn't believe what he is preaching. They probably knew all along anyway but i think it would have just added to the film. I've tried finding out about the aftermath online and cant even find anything so maybe they just declined any interviews or their views on the matter. Either way, a really good doc worth checking out!

Boring As!
11 September 2012
I was really looking forward to this documentary as i like things out of the ordinary and would pretty much watch a documentary on paint drying (well, maybe be not that far, but i feel like i just have) To put it politely, it was so F**king Boring! They don't even get round to what happened till about 40 minutes in, before that it's just different interviews on things nothing to even do with the story. And even more annoyingly, all the way through it has a constant drone of music! another IMDb user titled his review "good for insomnia" and i'm gutted he beat me to it! hah :) What annoyed me most about this documentary is that it has the potential to be a good story. I just feel they went the wrong way about it. To say its 1 hr 15 mins long they could have told it in 25 minutes. I really wouldn't bother with this one.

"Don't Bother Wasting Your Time Keeper"
28 July 2012
And so here goes my first ever review for IMDb after being a member for about 8 years or more. I should have really saved my first review for a film i enjoyed but what the hell! I'm going to try keep this as short as possible, I've already wasted enough time on this film by watching it. This is hands down one of the worst "Horror" movies I've ever seen! It started off with an Hour of Nothing. Basically just two "Kooky" hotel workers sitting around, almost like a light hearted Comedy. I know most horror films start off with a bit of humour to catch you off guard but with this film nothing catches you off guard. Honestly, its just terrible, there's things that are mentioned that are left unanswered, for instance, a psychic staying at the hotel mentions "there's three of them", then you never hear about that again, and three Spirits certainly aren't revealed. In general Its just poorly written (maybe as bad as this review) and i cant believe there's actually good reviews for this film on here, people saying this film is good or even scary must be into some really really bad films! i dread to think. Anyway, ill leave this review with a warning, Do Not Waste Your Time Watching This Garbage, You'll feel like building a time machine just to go back an Hour and 40mins!
