Creamerie (2021)
Can anyone count?
With a world population of about 8 billion that's about 4 billion males, With 99% dead, that leaves about 40 million alive. The current population of New Zealand is 5.1-5.2 million people. Imagine trying to ship 40 million additional people there and trying to house them, feed them, provide medical care, collect sperm, ship it world wide, etc. I know this is a comedy but there are limits to maintain so there is some kind of concept you can hold on to that is a BIT plausible. The premise could have been served by all men being put in thousands of facilities around the world and the action centered around one place in the world. Call me a nitpicker if you will but there are things that just take you right out of the situation as if in an action movie someone just shouts "bang you're dead" instead of actually holding a gun.
Garden of Love (2003)
If blood is all you love, then that's what you'll receive
Lots of gore in what I suppose is a fairly well done way? I don't mind that if it supports the story instead of just being there for the sake of it as here. Just kind of stupid when it's silly splatter for splatter's sake. The story itself is pretty silly really. The bones of it are ok, but it's not fleshed out. The acting is ok, but the dialogue is pretty insane at times. When a detective is relating the story of the bloody massacre at the back of everything his over the top dramatic dialogue - as opposed to the dry just the facts narration you would expect - is the best part of the movie actually because it's funny. On the whole the movie is pretty dumb and not worth the watch unless you just like watching people being ripped apart by ghosts. Like my title says If blood is all you love, then that's what you'll receive.
A Child's Voice (2018)
Important topic, bad movie
Just because sex trafficking, child trafficking, labor trafficking (which is the great majority of human trafficking) is real doesn't mean a movie about it is good. You can make a movie about slavery, rape, murder, or any other great evil and still have a lousy script, bad acting, poor direction, and every other flaw a movie can have. Which this one does. A movie isn't good just because it might bring awareness to an important topic. This movie is just awful!. Acting is awful. Story is ridiculous and poorly executed. Sound track is bad. Editing is bad. I guess the lighting costumes and sets are ok.
Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971)
Whispering thoughts ruined it for me
Everybody seems to love this film. One of the features that dominates it is the voice Jessica hears almost constantly when alone, which may be a hallucination, or may be something else. The viewer is left to decide, as with everything else that occurs. This voice is presented in the form of a whispering voice or sometimes overlapping voices. For me the whispering, whispering, whispering, WHISPERING!!!!! Was driving me up the wall well before the movie ended. It was so irritating it completely ruined the experience of what might otherwise have been a very enjoyable film. Need 24 more characters.
Christmas Bedtime Stories (2022)
Ending ruined this Hallmark movie
We're two women who love the fluffy predictable Hallmark Christmas movies normally, as a break from the stressful real world and even the other kind of shows we watch and also love with plenty of action, violence, sex, etc. But this one ends in a ridiculous out of the blue way that destroys the whole story of the movie. It also makes no sense for how things work in the world. It's a complete fantasy ending far in excess of the bit of romantic fantasy we allow for in a Hallmark movie. It left us frustrated and wishing we had watched something else. Skip this one. Plenty of other Hallmark movies this year, (and Lifetime, Netflix, UpTV!)
