La ciudad de los prodigios (1999)
Chicago gangsters in Barcelona
The film looks like a crossing between a twisted love-story and a classic gangster-movie; everything happening in turn-of-the-last-century Barcelona. Greed, power, treason, violence, love... It reminds me of "Miller's crossing" (Coen Brothers' film) All in all, a good film showing a changing world.
Takedown (2000)
It glorifies my computer job !
I've recorded the film from Spanish TV, in the wee hours. (probably to fill a time with low audience) I'd read some about Kevin Mitnick and the book written by the Japanese Shimomura.
My comments:
* The actor playing Shimomura is Chinese-American ! (anyway, I can't say a Japanese from a Chinese)
* Hackers look human and ethic (not crackers)
* We don't know why Kevin was arrested
(authorities were afraid of him, kind of half-god who can spoil your computer, your phone, your water, gas and electricity...a little ludicrous)
* All in all, the film is entertaining.
I'll show this film to my friends, showing then that there is some thrill in the computer field. (they think, it's extremely boring: sometimes I agree with them !)
Sans mobile apparent (1971)
Great french classic police film
I had seen this film in a cinema, years ago, when I was a youngster. Now, I have bought the video in a 2nd hand shop, and...
I has been delighted again with:
a) The plot: good thriller about a snipper who kills several high society persons.
b) The actors: Jean-Louis Trintigant is superb as a policeman, engaged in a difficult case. And he runs top speed...
c) The music: Morricone's score is perfect. It goes along very well and underline top moments.
To summarize: highly commandable film.
Tight Spot (1955)
I like old films with good performance !
I disagree a little with previous writers:
Although Ginger is a little old (and, yes, older than the policeman), she is sexy enough to make believable the plot. (I think women in their 30s and 40s can be gorgeous: even more than the ones in their 20s)
But I agree about Robinson (a little man that fills the screen) and Keith (great not-so-tough policeman)
And a kind request: Could anybody send me the last lines of the script ? (or tell me, where in Internet to look for it) I've recorded the film from the spanish TV in the wee hours. I've run out of tape, just when Ginger and Robinson appear in the trial. I would like to know what Ginger and the bad guy say...
