Warning: Spoilers
Holy smokes. I am really exhausted and devastated by how terrible this whole thing is. We wait 6 years for a Rick Grimes come back and one of the main things of that 6 episode nonsense is a standoff between Jadis and Rick. With my all due respect to the actors, including Seth Gilliam. But who cares ? At no point Jadis was ever an interesting nor important character to anyone. Recycling some old characters and put on some of those conflicts they base this show on is something that could have been written by either 10 year olds or AI. This reminded me of when Jimmy Fallon invites people and they read scripts that were written by 10 year olds. The whole thing stinks. The last episode will be about getting a "dossier" to destroy it, because for some reason someone cares what's in there ?! What does it say ? Rick Grimes was a guy who someday was somewhere else with people and sometimes they fought people. Like literally everyone else probably did. What the hell. Really. I am lost for words. The seasons finale and the big comeback is like a side quest from some cheap video game. How lazy can this be ? They drove by car and end up in some cabin and for some reason Jadis, by foot, finds them. Despite the overall thing being terrible, this also makes no sense. Who ever is responsible for this should instantly retire.

some good some bad

Warning: Spoilers
So here we are in episode 4 of The Ones Who Babble. For the forth episode they decided to rent an airbnb and give a whole lot more talking. This episode is actually 50% Kammerspiel. Also now they let actors write their episodes. While the writing was okay I can't help but find that Danai Gurira is just not a good actress. She has something ordinary about her. All the eye rolling and mostly the same facial expression. Most of the time she looks either constipated or surprised. I have to say that the entire situation and conflict they're in is just pretty boring. Why would anyone care so much if Rick would just leave the YMCA. They could have done so much cooler stuff. Also some things don't make sense. With all the time holes and everything this must be at least 15-20 years into the zombie apocalypse. How is that elevator working ? How is there light in that building ? Why does Rick randomly have that stupid red light lamp on and off at times. Also if you want to secretly get away and make others think you're dead, make sure to drive away in a big yellow car. Two episodes left. So far a lot has been a waste of time.

Well that wasn't worth the wait

Warning: Spoilers
It is becoming apparent that this platform is preventing people from writing honest reviews. This is my fifth attempt to post a review to this. I kiddingly called the show "The Ones Who Babble". These first two episodes are a complete no brainer to me. They waste two episodes for some side characters and a gnowme. Man, this new show should've been punk rock and Avantgarde. Just throw us in. Start with Michonne and Rick together already and make some solid action and survival like in the old days and then if you want begin to pick apart what happened in small flashbacks or something. But actually to be honest I feel even that romance between those two feels like shovelled into me. I never cared about it. Like they had what, maybe 2-3 scenes of romance before ? Rick was the best. And this doesn't pay him no justice. This is so lazy. The way they met. Gnowme firing rockets from his shoulder that take down a helicopter. Yeah, right. Even in terms of production values this lacks a lot. They could've shot that in my garden. And why Jadis ? A hard pass for me. This is the worst I have seen in the TWD universe so far.

Boring
17 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Come on all the crazy people out there. Gotta be some better stuff out there. No one even died. Kidding aside. Not sure this really needed to be a three episodes series. How can this story where almost nothing happens be longer than American monster with Chris Watts. Woman gets kidnapped, gets released and then they find the guy on the next occasion and find out that he did the kidnap of that lady. The end. Sure put some lights on bad police, that's fine, but honestly this could have easily been a 40 minute episode of some crime show. We need some new crazy people out there. I'm running out of material. This was a waste of time.

It had a lot of potential
9 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am almost at the end of season 3 now. That moment when Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) suddenly is William "Belly" Bell was the cringiest moment so far. Like what the fringe. With my all due respect to the late Leonard Nimoy, but his characters was already annoying by himself. I don't know. This reflects kind of the whole show. Good characters in their very roots and they all do some great acting. John Noble is amazing. And the father son thing and the love story and all that are probably the best recipes. But I feel they just got tied up in in that parallel universe maze and spent too much time and energy on that. The cases get more and more random too and not scary or anything. It's sad. I think with a better story and a darker setting the show could have lasted even longer. I hope this Olivia being William Bell thing is not gonna last long. By far the best thing in the entire show is Henry the cab driver.

weird episode
2 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I felt compelled to write something about this episode and I will do that will long sentences since now you have to write a whole dissertation to publish a review. Every sympathy you might've had with the kid is instantly gone when innocent people are killed. I knew it also from the very beginning that the kid was doing these things. They could have made it different so you would really root for the kid. In the end that kid is just a huge a**ho*e. That was the worst episode to me so far. Nothing happened to the main plot either. I hope it will be better in the next one. I still have to type words.

The Batman (2022)
6/10
Tough one to review
15 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Many things were cool in this one. I was exited for years. I liked the planet of the apes films from matt reeves and was just curious about his Batman and felt that could be really really good.

People still referring Pattinson to twilight seem to have slept for the past decade. He is one of the best actors right now and to me it made a lot of sense having him in the dark suit.

But somehow the film was kind of boring. I was never really thrilled or scared. The plot about corruption and all that was on the nose and to much explained in dialogues (exposition). Like a kid playing Batman and telling stuff.

The riddler was super disappointing to me. I mean I don't want no Carrey or something but I missed some more green to be honest. I feel like Paul Dano is generally overrated. He looks like a radish with a face. No chin. And for some reason that he looks like a loser everybody thinks he's a great actor. I felt his performance was forced and had no character.

As opposed to the general opinion that Barry Keoghan in the end is the new joker, I think it's two face. I saw him like the first second and said "Two face" to my girlfriend.

The film was just too long. You could cut 45 minutes out of it. Circling cameras around a staring person. And the plot is not that big and complex to justify the length.

Alfred came way too short.. and most of the time Batman didn't do anything really cool. No gimmicks.

I get that it was trying to break with the rules. Like when he uses his bat thing on the chest to cut a police bandage at a crime scene and never uses it otherwise. But it's kind of boring.

The tone was cool and all. I hope they do others and that they'll get better, more gripping and thrilling and even darker (not the images). I rolled my eyes many times. Dig deeper Matt.

I thought it could be a zeitgeist version of 30 days of night, but..
9 August 2021
Turned out to be 30 farts at night. I'm getting pissed of films where nothing happens for half an hour. It's not heat form Michael Mann. It's a 90 minutes thing. Get it rolling... but I also watched like 5 low budget films today.. I thought it's a vampire flick.. but I was happy to hear Rory Gallagher.

Nice cast.. nice setting.. boring execution
9 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
They wanted more than they could afford. Should have been done later. It was boring. Nothing really happens for over an hour. Too much talking and whining... a film like that must be harder. One of the crew must have an advantage of all that. I didn't even know what the purpose of the journey was. Maybe I missed something.. the guys eyes blow out and the others not. Why ? They all touched the jelly. Missed some real action. The cast was cool though. But all in all not that good. You clearly see references to carpenters the thing. I'd rather watch that 20 times.

Better than any Zack Snyder film but still boring and dragging
7 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I quit somewhere after the mid section. After the Jeff bezos guy with his microscope head was teared apart. It's better than Zack Snyder but somehow it is still boring. The shark gut with Stallone's voice could have been so fun. If you just let him talk more and just like normal Stallone. This would be something you were not expecting. You'd expect him to be how he is and then Just let him talk like a waterfall with Stallone's voice. That would've been so fun.

I don't know. Gunn is usually the best fit for that type of films. But not this time.

I didn't even care about the outcome because it didn't catch me at all. Also a little too many characters.

River (I) (2021)
1/10
This is what happens when people make films without learning the craft. Worst film I have watched in ages.
16 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Debuts are never easy. Many people don't even get there. And making a film in general deserves a certain amount of respect. But this film was almost entirely unwatchable to me. Sure, tastes are different. But there a certain things, that are not about taste but about knowledge.

Film exists now for almost 130 years and the ways how stories work and how stories fascinate us, haven't changed that much, because it goes back to actual story telling that goes back thousands of years.

It is simple. Know the rules to break the rules. You can't want to build a bridge, because you once crossed one. You need to learn the basics. How does the bridge hold up to not break and crash.

Making a film is like flying a plane. You need to know all the knobs and mechanisms. There is a start, the flight and actual journey, and the landing. And in between maybe a drink, a sandwich or any kind of refreshment. And then on top of that you can try new things and go other ways (maybe not on a plane though). And then let the people out safely.. climax.. Here it's like you took a plane for a bus. It never got up.

It is like being an architect. There is no real structure. And people today are not dumb. Many people do know really well about stories. And then there are the others who just say either wow, that was great or wow, what a huge load of crackers.

This is actually one of the worst films I've ever watched. Goes into a category like Tommy Wiseau's The room. But the room is fun at least. I would recommend to really dive into story structures and storytelling. Leave the arrogance behind. Learn the anatomies of a film. Learn rhythm and editing. And just then. You can make a film.

It literally takes 37 minutes for anything to happen. And if the makers don't know what I mean, well, then I know I'm right.

Everyone knows it's sad when someone dies in general. If it's someone you were close with. Instead of wasting almost 40 minutes with crying and walking around and dragging, show it in like 2 minutes or let's say 5 at max.

For example. The film opens. RIVER. River and Mom are shopping in any kind of store. Having casual fun. Whatsoever. Maybe even have a mini argue. Let them drive in a car and reconcile. River is maybe about to leave the city to study ? And then they have a casual conversation, a hug, a smile and then Boom. A car crashes in the side of the car. Mommy dead now. Audience sad. A life changing incident. You could even make it look like her mother got her very young, so you don't know first if she's her friend, sister or maybe mother. Then you would've had already a handful of surprises just in the opening scene. That's filmmaking.

You can do that within 5 minutes. And spend the rest of the 85 minutes in actually telling something.

Ever heard of show don't tell ? The films starts with something like : You know my mother was only 17 years older than me? This is a huge thing. This is a thing you can put the entire film on. And this is exactly what I am talking about. They simply do not know how to write. This could be the main conflict of any film. You don't go and say that in the first written dialogue.

The dialogues in general are terrible. Cringe overload. The entire film is so one dimensional. Again, the beginning. Sad faces like her mother died right in that moment. Way too much info. Let them sit there and be sad and don't tell already who's grave that is. That would instantly make an audience curious. That's natural. We all seek meaning. Don't sit there and tell.

Then do a flashback if you want. But reveal later. Don't let the mother tell 50 times how she loves her by words. Show it differently.

And also the shaky camera throughout the entire movie? Hello? This is 2001 calling, Kiefer Sutherland and 24 want their crew back.

No offense to the actors, they did what they can with what they got. Fair enough. I don't know much about the director or screenwriter. I also wish I could reply to other critics. Soulful and deep ? Yeah, if you measure Sci-Fi by films like After earth or the cell or even Pandorum. Sci-Fi is huge. There is Kubrick, Scott, Nolan, Villeneuve, Cronenberg, Carpenter, Verhoeven, Spielberg, Lucas etc. Do your research. This is not even a black mirror episode. It's even too bad to win a razzie. I also didn't like the grading. Too many lense flairs. Looks like a commercial for a perfume in a grocery store. I hope the actors ever get another job. The music was okay, but also a little too much and sounds out of the box. Sounds almost like license free music you can buy pre recorded. It can only get better from here. This was just a waste of resources.
