Overrated Classic

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I don't get this movie...the only likeable character is George because he's the only one who is kind and authentic.

Julia Roberts plays a pretty jerk, and Kimmy and Michael have no chemistry and they acknowledge it's a snap wedding. Julia Robert's and Dermot Mulroney have ALL the chemistry, but he leads her on, and they still don't end up together. Disappointing and enfuriatingly heartbreaking.

About what you'd expect from another remake/sequel
16 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews for movies I'm indifferent about, but I will say my bar was pretty low and it slightly exceeded expectations, at least compared to the Tom and Jerry movie. There were a few laughs, and the opening montage was nostalgic of the original Space Jam. And the people who said this movie was basically about showcasing LeBron's talent were right, but the original did the same for Michael Jordan. I don't expect basketball players to be phenomenal actors and neither should anyone. I did enjoy the Michael B. Jordan cameo and all the universe references which was a funny twist. Even some adult films like Mad Max and Austin Powers! Definitely didn't expect that in this movie. Some might call it pandering, but I guess I enjoy being pandered to.

Love this movie!
5 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When I first watched this movie I was confused somewhat, but I found it funny, but as the movie progressed on, I fell a little more in love with it and by the end I was hooked. I love Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick, and how they're just a wee bit crazy, but the movie is also self-aware. Like the antagonists even keep saying how their plan makes no sense and is terrible...I just love it. Worth the watch. Or if you're me, you'll keep re-watching it because I want the kind of love where someone else's crazy matches mine <3

So silly it becomes funny again
23 February 2020
This is one of those movies where I couldn't decide how I felt about it going in. I generally enjoy self-aware comedy and Seth Macfarlane is one of my favorites because he incorporates a lot of things into his comedy. Some parts are dry, but the parts that are funny are laugh out loud funny so I can overlook the slower stuff. Some of it is so dumb you just can't help but laugh.

Not the highest budget movie, but an interesting twist makes it fun
21 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was one movie that I was not expecting much, but was actually pleasantly surprised with. I liked the twist on the old Dracula tale with the Bible. I think it makes a lot of sense and adds some real depth to the character. Nice to see Gerard Butler before he became popular..and there are a lot of other familiar faces.

Solid Sci-Fi/Horror Flick
20 February 2020
It does start off a bit slow admittedly, but if you're like me, your curiosity will get the better of you, and you will not be disappointed. It's part sci-fi, part horror but not TOO scary. I love Riddick. I think he's my favorite Vin Diesel character.

I like this movie's twist on the usual secret agent movie. Entertaining as hell! Worth the watch!

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what it is about this movie...it's visually appealing to me. I like the mix of futuristic/biological technology in it. I just think it's overall really cool. The premise is believable. I like the actors. Charlize Theron is great, and Marton Csokas is one of the most underrated actors in my opinion.

Bittersweet film
20 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't know what to expect with this movie...I was not expecting a lot of upsetting marital fighting that's for sure. I'm not married but man that was rough. It had a happy ending, but I was expecting something a bit more lighthearted. Bruce Willis is always funny and adorable, but man, that was really the biggest redeeming feature of this movie.

This movie has been one of my absolute favorites for YEARS! Just a fun sci-fi flick that never gets old no matter how many times you watch it. So visually appealing, exciting, funny, and a beautiful love story. I love it so much I actually have a tattoo of it <3

Cute Romantic Comedy
19 February 2020
I liked this movie. Cute actors - Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. I can't say a lot about it stood out to me from other romantic comedies. But it was enjoyable to watch even if I'm not super into tennis. A lot of actors I didn't expect were in it, which is always an enjoyable surprise for me.

Confusing
19 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had a lot of potential in terms of the conflict with the archangels and everything...though there are so many issues with how they decided to execute it that I find odd...like why God would send "angels" who look like demons to do demonic things to people? And how come when the baby was born, they still had to fight even after Michael came back as an angel? Sort of thought the whole point of the sacrifice he made was to give God hope again. Which again, is not a great plot line since God is the source of all love but I digress. Interesting things to think about if you can ignore the major theological issues there are here.

But also it was just scary to be scary and gross to be gross during certain parts which I'm never a fan of. I love Paul Bettany, loved him in Priest. Kevin Durand was awesome too. I would watch a whole movie about the both of them and that whole subplot but ultimately, I only own this movie because it was part of a 3 pack with another movie that I actually wanted...

Awesome mix of genres
19 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if it's because I'm Catholic, but I found this movie to be awesome despite the very mixed message about the Church. I think it's so cool to have an action hero in the form of a priest who is a badass and devoted to God. I love the story, and the character development in a short period of time. I liked the mix of post-apocalyptic/western/vampire genres. It just worked for me. I would LOVE for there to be a sequel/series from this. There's so much potential here. Paul Bettany is incredible.

A Final Farewell
19 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The third installment of Lord of the Rings wrapped the trilogy up nicely, but I find that the cut version pales in comparison to the extended edition. There's just too much at stake and you have to get the full experience. I watched the cut edition on Netflix and I know the story, but it's so worth it to experience the whole thing.

Best Battle Scene EVER
19 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The second installment of Lord of the Rings just keeps on delivering the same standard of excellence that the first film began. Helms Deep to this day is still the best battle sequence I've ever seen in my life. Including Game of Thrones or anything else we have seen with all the new technology. Absolutely breathtaking.

Beautiful film
18 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Atonement is a beautifully shot film. I thought it was visually appealing and I liked the way the scenes were cut to include different perspectives of the same events, and even then, you don't get the full story until the dramatic reveal at the end. It definitely makes you think about how we perceive things and definitely how our actions can have consequences.

Leaves You Wanting More
17 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is mysterious from start to finish. So if you're looking for closure in a film, you may want to move along. I think it's wonderfully done, and Viggo Mortensen is always wonderful. But there's no closure. You still don't learn much of the backstory though you do know some at the end; you don't know if the family recovers from all of the drama or if "Tom" ever becomes himself again. So there's some conflict there. But it does leave you thinking about it, and maybe that's the point.

Violent, but worth watching
17 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie follows a woman who has a run in with the vory v zakone, "thieves in law" or the Russian mob. They prefer knives to guns, so as you can guess there is quite a bit of gore. But the story is super compelling and Viggo Mortensen is incredible. He's a fantastic actor. I'm fascinated by the vory v zakone plot line, and the meanings of the prison tattoos, which they refer to just enough to make you want more.

Beautiful and Haunting
17 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this interpretation of Jane Eyre...it was visually stunning and I think that it captured the romance of the book without the sometimes unncessary details of the book. Michael Fassbender is so intense and Mia Wasikowska really captures Jane perfectly in my opinion.

Probably not for everyone, but hilarious to me
30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't pretend to be overly computer savvy, but you don't have to be to appreciate the humor of this show. Honestly all of the cast had me busting out loud (mind you, I watched this by myself) at some point or another. Sometimes dry, sometimes slapstick, sometimes basic toilet humor - either way, the hijinks on this show are worth the watch. I could see how some might see it to be a bit dry, but honestly it's worth sticking with.

Perfection, gone too soon!
30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw Firefly I was pretty much unaware of space westerns as a genre. I was introduced to Firefly by a friend in college and I already knew that this was how they should be done. As a huge Buffy/Whedonite already, I knew this show was going to be awesome. It was so perfectly cast, and there was just the right amount of "Huh?" that kept you going from episode to episode - not enough to deter you, just keep you sucked in and hanging on to every word. The writing is so unique from the sort of dialect to the random smattering of Chinese, but it is sewn in so well you don't even question why they all seem to know Chinese (spoiler alert: basically the US and China were left as the last 2 world superpowers and therefore everyone knows Chinese as a result). Myself and most of the people I've in turn turned on to this show have watched the entire series in one sitting. It's kind of hard to explain the premise in words, but just trust me when I say, WATCH THE THING.

Hilariously witty in its self awareness, and a compelling fantasy.
30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Catchy musical number? Check. Ruggedly handsome lead? Check. Hilarious sidekicks. Check. Politically incorrect? Check. What more could you want from a half hour comedy series? So sad this show only made it 2 seasons because it was SO good! The plot got a little rushed in the second season, I will admit, but it still doesn't detract from the overall AMAZINGNESS of this show! All of the cast was absolutely fantastic both acting and singing-wise. Did I mention the hilarious self awareness? I mean, the second season premiere was entitled "A New Season aka Suck It, Cancellation Bear" - PRICELESS! WATCH THIS SHOW.
