Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)
Incredible animation
Whilst the game didn't live up to its full potential the anime and the cyberpunk lore lives on in all the glory. The art style, music and story line are engaging. I love the subtle reference to the game and hope to see more story and anime explore the cyberpunk 2077 universe.
I particularly enjoyed watching it in the English dub as I couldn't get into the Japanese voice over.
Finally something good on Netflix. Recommend this to anyone who enjoys the blade runner esque concept. You don't need to be an anime fan to enjoy the series so give it a spin. Definitely not suitable for children as it is purely geared towards to adults.
Purple Hearts (2022)
Absolute cringe
The persistent and blatant politicising that goes on in these shows has become unbearable. I'm all for movies having a message eg how unfordable current health care in America is but got there movies feel like they are written by 12 year olds no subtlety and treating the audience like children...
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Laughable story backed by good special effects
So sad and disappointing to see how Disney has destroyed this iconic franchise. The story is non-sensical and writing terrible. Backed up by awkward acting. I do appreciate the visual and sound effects.
Love, Death & Robots: Jibaro (2022)
Work of art
My favourite episode of this season. Jaw dropping visuals and sound. Haunting story caps of the this seasons visual treat. I can only imagine how long this would taken to produce.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Disappointed
Just felt off. Rehashing old material and uninspiring. The first matrix set the bar too high. The themes in the original were ground breaking. Nothing of note in this movie.
Mr. Corman (2021)
Discontent
I feel this show has the potential to be great. The story drives at the discontent we can often feel about our life and it's trajectory. The pressure to pursue what we love vs the hard reality of making a living. The sense of disconnect, loneliness and frustration is palpable. Some of the reviews have highlighted the slow pace but I felt the pace is appropriate and cinematography is beautiful. Particularly at the end of episode 2. Joseph is fantastic and plays the main character with realism.
