Baking Impossible (2021)
Great Baking/Engineering Show
This show was fantastic, the baking and engineering on display are top notch. Added to that it seems Netflix finally found a host who doesn't want to make you tear your eyes out and cut your ears off. That in itself is a miracle.
It loses 2 points due to who won because they didn't take the whole competition into account for the finale. In my opinion consistency should win out, and Rodolfo and Sarah were not the most consistent. Cindy and Taylor had some of the best engineering and most creativity on display throughout the show. They were robbed.
The Adam Project (2022)
Excellent
I enjoyed near everything about this movie. The action was excellent, the fight choreography was well done to the point that you forget that it's choreographed, and the CGI was spot on minus some digital de-aging that could have been better. The interactions between characters ranged from downright hilarious at times to heartfelt and poignant at others. I thought it was well paced, well written, well directed and well acted. I found myself interested and engaged in the movie through it's full runtime which for me is extremely rare.
Ella and the Little Sorcerer (2021)
Terrible
I can't recommend anybody spend money taking their kids to see this, your money and time would be better spent on nearly anything.
Honestly I've seen better animation and voice acting in shows made entirely for YouTube by 1 or 2 people. Cineplex should be embarrassed by this, it's bad to the point that even my 3 and 5 year old kept asking when it would be over. I could forgive the nonsense story, the lacklustre animation and the middle school play quality voice acting if my kids had enjoyed it even a little. At least they enjoyed the popcorn.
PAW Patrol: The Movie (2021)
It's for kids and in that regard it's a success
My 3 and 5 year loved it and have talked about it non-stop since. That's all anybody should hope for when taking their kids to the theatre, was it worth the price of admission and did the target audience enjoy it? I think if everybody rated the movie on that alone we'd see a lot more 9's and 10's.
What If...?: What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord? (2021)
2 stars may be generous here.
The first episode was nothing to write home about, but at least it didn't make me verbally blurt out "what the f@#!".
So now that T'Challa is Star-Lord he's able to talk the Mad Titan out of his plan to annihilate half the universe? What?! How?! When?! It was at this point that I all but gave up on this episode, and likely the series as a whole. Dude couldn't even talk his cousin out of engulfing Earth a race war, but talks fu@#ing Thanos out of wiping out half the universe? Okay then. I have a hundred other gripes with this episode but I'll spare you the monotony of reading them.
Knowing that Chadwick Boseman voiced this himself is both awe inspiring and heart wrenching. Knowing now what this man dealt with as he continued to entertain millions as T'Challa and in his many other roles is nothing short of inspirational. That being said, was this meant to serve as his goodbye to a character that he portrayed so passionately? A final farewell to all who loved him around the world? Well, if so I can only find that deeply depressing. This does not deserve to be remembered as his final work.
