As a person from that part of the world I expected to be able to understand the dialogue but at least half of it mumbled by me in typical BBC Drama fashion. Does the BBC really think that they can overcome possible bad scripting by making the dialogue unintelligible?
The snow is so obviously fake that it is painful to watch and the hair!!!!!! Amy is supposed to be 13 years old at the beginning of the book so WHY are her black roots showing? Jo cuts most of hers off but when it grows back it is an entirely different colour. You can easily see the line where the mismatched extensions have been attached.
The acting is generally good as are the costumes (a real bonnet-fest) but it should have been a four part series to allow some character development to take place. Although the March girls are supposed to have grown up, the rushed character of the last episode allows only brief glimpses of what they have become.
Worth watching, but don't expect any revelations.
