Monster (2022)
Wow
Suffocating. Nerve destroying. Heart wrenching. Disturbing.
I had high hopes for this being a true crime addict and seeing a decent cast. But this went beyond my expectations. If you're expecting a gore fest you'll be sadly disappointed. If you're expecting a sinister emotional rollercoaster you'll be sated.
Episode 6 is probably one of the saddest and sweetest pieces of television I've ever witnessed in 52 years of being alive. If you know the history of Dahmer you'll know what's coming which makes it even more heart breaking.
I couldn't find a single weak performance and I'm expecting awards up the arse for this series. Well done Netflix.
Anna (2021)
Blown away
I went into this thinking it'd be a typical kids survive apocalyptic scenario like "The Tribe" and ended up watching one of the best shows I've ever seen. It's cinematography, child actors, musical score, atmosphere and story was hypnotic. You are completely drawn into this strange Lord of the Flies meets Pans Labyrinth recipe and it doesn't stutter or drag at all. There are so many scenes which will stick with you. And the cherry on the cake was my favourite song ever playing at the end which fitted like a glove. Wonderous.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga (2019)
Sublime
This has got to be one of the greatest series I've ever watched. You don't necessarily have to be a fan of the group to appreciate the feel of each character and their struggle to rise. The music is just the cherry on top as the acting is next level. Definitely a classic and one to remember.
War of the Worlds (2019)
Better than I thought.
Some people are saying this is slow paced but it only adds to the tension and atmosphere. There are no instantly dislikeable performances and it's a great series of human endurance in the face of disaster. I'm only finishing season one but it's already a great show in my opinion. More atmosphere than The Walking Dead and also less soap opera dramatics.
