Sumotherhood (2023)

I planned to watch a comedy. Turns out, it made me very angry. "Sumotherhood" attempts to make people laugh by showing characters peeing, pooping, and shouting. This marked the first time I tried to watch it all over again, giving it a second chance, but I had to leave in the middle of the film. The jokes, regrettably, are disgraceful and downright disgusting. The film's attempt at humour through such crude elements not only misses the mark but ventures into tastelessness. Retreating to puerile jokes detracts from any potential wit or charm. Despite my initial effort to give it another shot, "Sumotherhood" fails to redeem itself, leaving me disappointed and questioning the judgement behind its production.
It Lives Inside (2023)
Disappointing
I thought it should be scary. No, not at all. No mystery, no surprise, nothing creative and nothing sparkling. "It Lives Inside" fails to live up to its horror genre expectations, stumbling in its attempt to deliver genuine chills. The film lacks the innovation needed to stand out, resorting to predictable scare tactics that feel tired and overused. From the outset, the atmosphere is established, but it quickly becomes apparent that the narrative struggles to break free from conventional clichés. Jump scares are deployed with a sense of obligation rather than genuine fright, and the film's attempts at suspense often fall flat. The cinematography, while having moments of promise, ultimately lacks the finesse to make a lasting impact. Performances are commendable, but the characters are thinly developed, leaving little room for emotional investment. In the end, "It Lives Inside" misses the mark, unable to offer the truly chilling and innovative experience that the horror genre demands.
