Garbage actress ruins another project
29 December 2023
This is actually a pretty decent offering with a strong and relevant message. However, this isnt an actual review of the movie, which is a better than average effort with pretty good performances by most of the cast. In fact all of the cast except one do justice to their roles. But my beef is with Radhika Madan who if possible is getting worse with every outing. Its shocking that this C grade actress keeps getting good projects. I m clueless why , when there so many good actresses around. Please do us all a favour and look for other means of livelihood. You are just deplorable in this, your chosen profession.

So many flaws
27 March 2022
Cant believe its the same director who gave us Fatal Attraction... havent come across a more unlikeable leading lady and a more disinterested leading man in a long time... Had to watch Glenn Close and Michael Douglas scorching the screen once more to restore my faith in Lyne..... very disappointed.

Couldnt go beyond the dull unimpressive leading pair...ugh... attempt at a poor mans Twilight..right upto Robert Pattinsons ugly lookalike.. Flaws aplenty and not even enjoyable in a bad way.

Shameful
2 January 2022
If it was meant to be a comedy, then it was pretty good. Otherwise just a shameful waste of time and resources. Contains the most deplorable set of cliches and one liners ever heard. John Abraham has started to look like a freak of late. God save Indian cinema.

Poor lead spoils a good effort
25 November 2021
Some people do NOT deserve a lead especially in drama like this one. The voice on the phone had more facial expression than Mr Aryan. His poor voice and pronounciation takes away a lot from the movie. Good adaptation with strong performances from supporting cast.

Good venture ; Terrible lead
25 December 2020
Nice fresh enjoyable effort. But Mr Cummings should stay behind the camera. I mean if u really want to, do a cameo. Jimmy Tatro would have been a much better choice.

11 April 2020
Did Radhika Madan finance the movie to get this role to get this role ??? She is definitely in the wrong profession. By far the worst part of an ok movie.

Close to perfection

Very very satisfying... It hits all the right notes... Great character build up. I enjoyed every moment and felt extremely satiated at the end.. Wouldnt change one thing about it... And the breathtaking cinematography and locales are a bonus... Kudos to the whole team

Btilliant Original Terrifying
27 September 2019
Being a horror movie buff i'm always on the lookout for something original. Hereditary ticks all the boxes . After taking off slowly it punches you right in the gut about 20 minutes into it and then really never lets go. The sense of foreboding is so real and dark that you start to feel the family's pain and horror... Great actors in the key parts di full justice.... keep up the good work... Expecting great things from Midsommar

poor production with bad and ugly actors
13 September 2019
A foursome of bad actors with poor screen presence furthur nullify an already bad movie with no redeeming features whatsoever... when attemting a cliched plot the direction production and acting can save the movie... nothing here to write home about... very disappointing

Magnum Opus
11 November 2018
Please people dont exaggerate so much.. Really 1 and 2 stars.... Its not Aamirs best but it wasnt meant to carry a social message like his other masterpieces... Its meant to be enjoyed for what it is.... Grand sets ...very very good vfx.. breathtakingly gorgeous Katrina and a very lovable Aamir character.... Please be objective in your ratings... Dont equate it with the piece of stale garbage Race 3 by giving them same rating..

With the right budget... who knows?
17 August 2018
The plot was great and could have been great but for the poor fx and poorer acting esp. the guy playing Odin. A big production house would have done proper justice... but still some originality in plot hence the three stars...

director takes viewers for a ride and not in the good sense
24 February 2011
doesn't do justice even to b grade horror movies .i was fooled into thinking that the great Mike Nichols had experimented with a different genre but couldn't believe that it was the same after watching the movie.finally came to know through IMDb that this is a completely different guy who had earlier helmed "a dead calling"(i have the misfortune of watching that too)..i think he should write something with his name so that there is no confusion to people...the movies plot was different but handled so poorly that you feel like tearing out your hair especially the wooden performances of the child actors of indeterminate age...my rating of 2 is for the somewhat different plot...but nevertheless its an hour and a half of my life i'm never getting back

Another tour de force from two legends
31 December 2007
When you see the movie "bridges of madison county" based on Robert James Waller's novel you feel enthralled and ashamed at the same time.Enthralled by the sheer magnitude of the canvas the writer and director employ and the timeless beauty and truth of the story.Ashamed because although you want the lovers united but at the same time you feel that as the children of Francesca you would have reacted in much the same manner. That in essence is the beautiful truth that is Bridges of madison county ,the novel as well as the movie.

The power of movies is reflected in the hold this gem has over you despite just two real characters going through a small period in their lives very much as any two individuals would do confronted by similar circumstances.Clint Eastwood's direction is so underplayed that it does not take anything away from the two protagonists. To say that both Streep and Eastwood are brilliant would be the understatement of the century as these two thespians cannot help being anything but. There is no feeling of disappointment or 'what if?',everything plays out as it probably would nine times out of ten.

Going through the production notes of the DVD I read a line by Eastwood which more or less sums up the greatness of Streep. He writes about the casting of Francesca and says very succinctly "I made only one call." My only reason for giving a 9 is that I never wanted the movie to end which it unfortunately does after 135 minutes. It's no wonder that Streep has been time and again acclaimed as the greatest ever ,this despite the presence of Robert De Niro,Jack Nicholson ,Jodie Foster Katherine Hepburn and many others.

Stones for Ibarra (1988 TV Movie)
8/10
monumental life changing experiences in a small Mexican village
28 January 2007
Stones for Ibarra is truly a work of excellence by acclaimed writer Harriet Doerr which was brought to the small screen in 1988 under the direction of the talented but highly underrated Jack Gold(The Package). It is a simple but moving tale of a childless American couple who against better judgment and the advice of friends and family move to the small Mexican village/town of Ibarra. As they come into contact with the local population and learn more about their life changing experiences their own perspective on life starts to change particularly that of the woman Sara portrayed to near perfection by the legendary Glenn Close. She comes to terms with her past ,the new people around her , customs of Ibarra (arrangement of the stones) and most importantly with the impending death of Richard (Kieth Carradine) her husband.

The movie captures the lives of the inhabitants as they are shaped by their pasts. The Mexican landscape is surprisingly breathtaking. The supporting cast includes Alphonso Arau,Ray Oriel and Angelina Torres. However the highest praise should be reserved for the brilliant Glenn Close who has time and again come up with landmark performances over the years. My favourite scene is when the character of Glenn Close is maintaining a calm exterior while talking to her husband while inside her a flurry of tumultuous emotions are exploding, both instances are presented in a juxtaposed manner by the director and truly takes your breath away. The rating of 8 is very much justified.Released only a few months after Fatal Attraction Close's character could not be more diametrically opposite to the psychotic Alex Forrest. She proves once again why she along with the likes of Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster are the true leading ladies of Hollywood. The fact that five Oscar nominations have not yielded an academy award for her is truly stupefying.
