Saving My Tomorrow (2014)
Seeing these kids brings hope about the future
This environmentally-focused series clearly demonstrates that the children of today are aware that the adults of the world have not figured out how to stop the devastating world problems like the destruction of the environment that we collectively face today. They must see adults as inept because surely nobody in their right mind would allow processes like this to happen. It's very inspiring to see how aware kids are today...I'd say moreso than a lot of adults. The use of sending environmentally-conscious messages through songs the children sing and perform is very poignant and strengthens the core message of the series. With adults sometimes becoming jaded and cynical in their older years, it's comforting to know that the youngest generation has more hope and courage to do something that makes a reality-changing difference.
The Legend of Mick Dodge (2014)
Back into the wild
If you enjoy a romanticized view of what it's like to like in a temperate rainforest with an interspersed, yet connected, underground of mountain dwellers then you'll love The Legend of Mick Dodge. This show makes you want to live in the Hoh and have merry adventures amongst the ancient forest canopy and majestic Hoh river.
While this show shouldn't be looked at as a how-to guide for living off the land using primitive skills, it is definitely an entertaining view into a life that symbolizes freedom, adventure, and kinship. In this day and age when we're hyperconnected through digital media and decides, it's refreshing to watch a show that's the antithesis of that.
