Talk to Me (2022)
Good but fugly actors
The movie I recently watched was fairly commendable. It presented a compelling narrative, artfully woven together to hold the viewer's interest throughout its duration. The story was intricate, filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, consistently surprising and always engaging.
Moreover, the makeup and aesthetics were impressive, adding a significant layer to the overall visual experience. The painstaking detail put into every prosthetic, the subtle transformation of actors into their characters through the magic of makeup was indeed breathtaking.
However, the movie also contained elements that were shocking, eliciting strong emotional responses. This added a layer of unpredictability to the viewing experience, making it more than just a passive activity.
Despite the above strengths, I found one aspect of the movie difficult to overlook: the cast. In comparison to the actors from the 90s, who were generally attractive, fit, and brought a certain level of charisma and appeal to the screen, the actors in this movie seemed to lack those qualities.
These actors, it seemed, were selected with a different criterion in mind. Some of them had an unappealing aesthetic, with hairstyles that could generously be described as 'unfortunate'. Their look was further marred by bulging eyes that seemed more likely to elicit unease than empathy from the audience.
Overall, while the actors were able to convincingly embody their characters, their physical appearances diverged greatly from the conventional attractiveness often associated with Hollywood. This deviation was jarring, and it detracted from the overall enjoyment of the film, giving the viewer an element of distraction that was hard to ignore.
Mad Heidi (2022)
A Disgraceful Display of Misused Public Funds
To say that "Mad Heidi" was a disappointment is an understatement. It's a film that utterly fails to respect not only the conventions of good storytelling but also the hard-earned money of taxpayers. It's an egregious example of public funds misused, and every Swiss franc wasted on this production feels like a direct affront to the public.
The central issue is not merely that the movie is bad - many films are. What truly makes "Mad Heidi" an egregious disappointment is the fact that this film was financed with taxpayer money. It's one thing to produce a poor quality film with private investment; it's another entirely to misuse public funds for a project that clearly did not have the artistic merit or public interest to justify such an expenditure.
The plot is thin, the characters are one-dimensional, and the humour - if we can call it that - is often tasteless and puerile. The exploitation of Swiss stereotypes is not charming or funny as it was perhaps intended, but rather disrespectful and lazy. And what's worse, it's all done with the backing of our tax money.
The acting is equally lamentable. Despite having a cast that has shown promise in other productions, the performances in "Mad Heidi" are completely unconvincing. It is as if the actors were not fully committed to the project, perhaps sensing the impending disaster from the outset. And who could blame them? The script is a mess, filled with cliches, tropes, and dialogues that would make even the most forgiving viewer cringe.
The movie tries to disguise its lack of depth and creativity with gratuitous violence and crude humor, but these attempts fall flat. It's as if the creators of "Mad Heidi" were so focused on being controversial and outrageous that they forgot to include anything of substance.
One could perhaps overlook these flaws if the movie at least had some aesthetic appeal, but even here, "Mad Heidi" fails. The cinematography is amateurish at best, and the special effects are so poorly executed that they pull you out of the experience instead of immersing you in it.
I am not only disappointed as a viewer, but I am also outraged as a taxpayer. This film is an egregious misuse of public funds, an insult to the taxpayers who were unwittingly made to finance such a dismal project. Our tax money should be used for projects that benefit the public, not for financing self-indulgent film projects that serve no purpose other than to inflate the egos of their creators.
In summary, "Mad Heidi" is a poorly executed, unimaginative film that should never have seen the light of day, especially not with the use of public funds. It's a disappointing waste of resources, a missed opportunity, and a painful reminder that not all investments lead to beneficial outcomes. If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's that the allocation of public funds should be done with more scrutiny, and definitely not for ventures as ill-conceived as this one.
Ghislaine Maxwell: Filthy Rich (2022)
Why are the "celebs" not prosecuted or even mentioned?
Why are the celebrities and the world leaders like Bill Gates, the Clinton and so on, who used Epstein's and Maxwell's services to exploit minors and to traffic sex workers not named, prosecuted or at least interviewed? Where's the documentary that calls them out?
Several high-profile individuals, including some celebrities and politicians, were connected to Jeffrey Epstein and were reportedly seen visiting his private island or traveling on his private plane. What did they do there?
Something seems very fishy and it's just sad that no one wants to speak out even though everyone knows something is up!!
Wreck (2022)
Most boring cheap thing I've watched in a long time
Most boring cheap thing I've watched in a long time! Awful writing, acting and just overall dreadful. I do not get the good reviews!
It is not thrilling and definitely not funny! Feels like I'm watching a student project. Wouldn't have expected this from a bbc production!!!

Halftime (2022)
Political whiny victim-hood festival!
It was a political whiny victim-hood festival. This could have been fun and inspirational but Netflix once again messed it up!
I first gave it 2 stars because there were some OK parts but wrapping it up with her performing at the inauguration of Biden was just a little much. All-tough seeing Joe fall a sleep behind her while she's singing was kind of hilarious.
Metal Lords (2022)
Boring
Extremely tedious, boring and kind of embarrassing to watch. Would not recommend to anyone over the age of 12.
The short metal and rock music snippets were the best thing about the movie, for that reason 2 insteas of 1 star.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
Abuse of Lovecraft
If you want to watch a show about rascism then this for you you but if you hoped for Lovecraft it's hard pass, sadly. This has very little to do with Lovecraft and it's a shame that they missued the title for this nonsense.

Utopia (2020)
wow
Loved the UK original but this remake is even cooler. Great show, specially in these times we are in ... if this doesn't get you thinking, nothing will.
The Cleaner (2021)
The original German Version ...

Profiteure der Angst - Das Geschäft mit der Schweinegrippe (2009)
Everyone should see this!
Great documentary that really helps to understand what is going in right now. Looking forward to the next one about this current situation. I'm guessing it's going to pretty lengthy ...
Extracurricular (2020)
Weird and tough to get through
I don't know if it's something cultural but the characters seem unrealistic and act weird. The acting was kind of off too. I found it to be tough to get through.
You (2018)
Season 3 took a plunge in Episode 3
I wish not every Netflix Show had to be pushing wokeness, politics and now even vaccines ...
So these stars are for season 1 and 2, which I really enjoyed.
