Mutluluk (2007)
maybe the best Turkish movie
This movie focuses on a serious problem in Turkey. Traditional rules are sometimes above the government laws. In this movie, we observe the conflict of the boy who has to kill his cousin because of these traditional rules. Although he can not accept that the thing he has to do is good, he tries his best to do. However, his love, emotions and strong feelings don't let him do that. The traditions, east-west difference and point of different world views in Turkey are shown dramatically and in a very effective way. The actress Özgü Namal who is one of the best actresses in Turkey did a very good job in this movie. Maybe she acts her best performance ever. Talat Bulut is also fascinating but as a whole, in Mutluluk, acting performance is much over the average. Director Abdullah Oğuz proves his quality in this movie too as well as he did in Babam ve Oğlum. In conclusion, this movie can be one of the best Turkish movies ever, because it really deserves this honor totally.
Ulak (2008)
no more clichés
That was what Cagan Irmak said before the movie was seen "if you are expecting clichés, you will not be satisfied". This movie was totally different. The style, the life, the people in the movie was kind of weird. However, everything was great, well prepared. Movie tells a tale about a "messenger" in ancient times. The tale tells people every side of a life, a woman lets men use her daughter for money, a bad man, a crazy woman, a boy and a girl that can not be together... Cetin Tekindor (Zekeriya) played nearly perfect in the movie. In addition, kids played their roles awesome. They were too natural, and they were living the environment. The soundtracks are great, images are impressive. One of the bests, 9/10.
Son Osmanli Yandim Ali (2007)
An Ottoman Legend After the World War I
I have been following Kenan Imirzalioglu (the main character Yandim Ali) for almost 7-8 years. He was too amateur when he started. But in all those years, he improved his skills and he is now one of the best actors in Turkey. It is hard to say the film is totally objective. However, it shouldn't be expected to be objective because the film tells the story of a hero from comic pages. Kenan Imirzalioglu showed a great performance in this film. The actress, Cansu Dere, was a bit insignificant in the movie. There were lots of actions and events during the movie, so she could not show herself well. In addition, the atmosphere of those years was efficiently displayed. Some explosion scenes were overdone, but they were not disturbing. Moreover, soundtracks of the movie are great. I still listen to the soundtracks. The only thing I did not like was the face expression of Ataturk in the movie. He was always looking a bit sad. If this movie tells us a story of a legend, we would like to see an Ataturk with a determined and brave face expression. However, in my opinion, this movie is one of the best Turkish movies ever.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
This show is awesome (as marshall says :)
When i first heard the name of the show, i did not think i would love it. The title of it, is a bit weird (-How i met your mother? - My mother!? :) However, when i started to see the episodes, i exactly loved it. Ted is a great character in the show, as he is trying to find his ideal girl. (hope that is Robin :) He is someone from the real life, we see Teds in the streets, at cafe, at school. But Barney is legen..wait for it..daryy :) He became an idol of the majority "How i met your mother" fans. Some people thinks sexual jokes are disturbing. I think they are not overdone. Actually Barney does sexual jokes perfectly by using a good way, and makes us laugh. Thank you Barney, Thank you Ted, Thank you How i met your mother staff. Good job!
