Ghost Town (2008)
Very disappointing
I'm a Brit and I was expecting so much from the film. Gervais had the perfect opportunity to show his talent of making people laugh.
Sadly the film went totally American with a soppy ending, wasted the opportunity, too bad.
The potential for this being a great comedy was totally lost and what we ended up with, was a very mediocre piece of drivel. Maybe next time he should actually put in a comment and say something to the effect that he wants to be seen as a comedian.
Gervais could really go a long way in the film industry but not if he keeps going down this road, another sad one like this and I would predict he will fall out of favour, not only with the British audience but even with the Americans. Either that or end up doing stupid sitcoms only fit for B rated satellite television.
My message, for what it's worth (not that I give a toss what anyone thinks) is that he should stay focused on being funny and not be hoodwinked into believing that everything is covered in chocolate.
The Last Sin Eater (2007)
Pathetic Drivel
Liana Liberato did a fine piece of acting, given what she was supplied with. The accents used by the actors in this movie had me and my partner in stitches from laughing. We heard poor Irish, poor Welsh and poor Scottish accents, nearly every player in this 'movie' did a bit of each in the same sentence.
The special effects were straightforward blue-screen backdrops they use on the local weather forecasts on television and just as believable. Landon has plastered his name on most bits of this in the credits, someone should have told him not to bother, this is a turkey of a movie with a capital T.
The Christian theme to this was so poorly veiled only the most gullible will think it to be a message of God. Unless you are a relative of the cast, even if you are partially sighted and hard of hearing, do not assault your senses watching this film.
Hell to Pay (2005)
Hell to Pay - More like Hell to Watch
I cannot see how anyone can say that this was a real good entertaining movie. With a few well known actors I found it hard to believe that this was only made in 2005. It's crap! The acting is tantamount to amateur dramatics, poor amateur dramatics. Unless you want to laugh loudly at an amazing 100 minutes of pure corn, don't bother to download it or rent it, worst that I have seen in years. It's from the bygone days of acting, where cowboys are shooting 8 bullets from the six-shooters. The more well known the actor, the worse they were, Drury was just sad. I was extremely disappointed with Lee Majors, has he actually stooped to this sort of garbage? It was bad enough when he played the six million dollar man.
