Engaging Father Christmas (2017 TV Movie)
9/10
Always worth watching
21 October 2023
First of a really nice trio (I think) of films with these characters in a small town all relating to and involved with the storyline. The two main characters are a delight, not over sugary and they seem to work really well together. Its a very typical Hallmark Christmas film, but nicely done and always worth another watch and has a very pleasant storyline throughout. And frankly, I'd love to live in such a small American town where it snows on an annual basis, and not rain most of the winter where everyone goes over the top with decorations and local events. I grew up in small town UK and had that kind of childhood and quite frankly miss it in many ways. Settle down with a cuppa and a biscuit and enjoy.

Lovely lovely lovely

Warning: Spoilers
Sat here with the most dreadful cough after 5 days of an awful virus feeling very sorry for myself (its Christmas Day) and this popped up. I love a good kids film, always.have and very partial to a good cartoon so this was literally just the ticket.

I adored it - particularly the Yeti who I fell almost instantly in love with. What a fabulous character. All the characters were just brilliant, even Eddie Izzard as the baddie come good.

Perfect way to lose an hour or so tucked up in front of a good fire with a cuppa ad a biscuit, or three. Total escapism and just what the doctor ordered in my case!!

Much Ado About Christmas (2021 TV Movie)

Sorry but the fake British accents ...................... no.
4 December 2022
Pleasant film with the requisite snow and pretty surroundings which are clearly not in London as indicated. But the fake British accents from some of the characters are just awful, cringeworthy awful. I watched it whilst putting up my Christmas tree and it was ok as backround noise but I would never sit down and watch it properly adn I shall avoid it next times its on, which is something I very rarely do - show me a Christmas film and I'm there normally. Storyline is good - of course it is, its Shakespeare who was born and lived not 10 miles from me. Not sure what old Will would have made of this.

A Husband for Christmas (2016 TV Movie)
1/10
Has to be one of the worst
5 October 2022
I love Christmas films but this is so contrived, badly acted and just a rubbish storyline.

Leading lady is beautiful and does her absolute best to hold the whole thing together, but the "husband" , whilst very easy on the eye is not the best actor and his fake accent is gratingly bad, be it Birmingham or Burnley and his girlfriend is awful. Their supposed British accents are just like nails down a blackboard to my ear.

I'm actually struggling to find something good to say about it, and still have too many characters left. Ohhhh and her boss is dreadful too - a real creep. I shall definately skip this one if it comes on again. Much much better out there!

Probably the worst Christmas film I have seen
2 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Dull, drab, rubbish acting - points given for the location and the horse and carriage - although the carriage driver is rather nice. Its a different stating point with the female lead running away from a failed proposal to a rather unpleasant character - and she is actually a rather unpleasant character too. Sadly I found the actress very wooden with no real spark between her and any of the other actors although a lot of that is down to the writers and not her. I love most Christmas films and will happily watch them again and again but I shall make a concious effort to avoid this one. Think I'll put the news on now - it might have more interest.

Finally got to see this one - and how I enjoyed it. Fabulous viewing for the kids and the adults - great fun and the songs and voices were wonderful. A genuine feel good.

Heartrending but utterly beautiful.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm in bits here having watched this. A beautiful film with a storyline that could break the hardest of hearts. Such loyalty - and the fact that it is a true story makes it even more memorable. I have never seen an Akita with his tail down - so sad. A must for dog lovers, but have a good supply of tissues handy.

Warning: Spoilers
Brings back so many awful memories - in reality it was so much worse than this. I can almost smell the burning - but very well done, albeit a dreadful subject.

Not for me
27 February 2022
I'm a huge dog lover (sadly not a fan of pugs) but this film had some really good names in it - sadly it failed to live up to my expectations. I guess the kids might like it - has moments of slapstick kinds of comedy.

Hiding behind my hands
15 January 2022
Half way into the second episode and I'm frankly hiding behind my hands. Doran is terrifying but so good - and Anderson is excellent. I think its his casual disregard of women which scares me - and probably most women. I can see me watching all of this though - got serious potential.

Utter class
11 January 2022
I've just binge watched the entire series stuck at home in isolation and its just lovely. Perfection. This final special finishes every single story line off to total perfection - not a plot hole in sight. And so beautifully done.

I first started watching Downton back when it was first odd, but its timing was then not ideal for me and I let it slide although I did enjoy it. Truthfully I think I prefer my series binged watched like this as my attention is held so much better.

Utterly heartbreaking
9 January 2022
No spoilers - we all know what the end result was, but this really bought home how those poor passengers must have felt. All the calls to their loved ones, the bravery shown by so many, and the evil of some.

The perfect family film
1 January 2022
I must have seen this so many times - but I adore it. Fro start to finish it is perfection. The acting, the singing, the music, the scenery, the characters - I cannot find fault. It is the film of my chldhood and still enjoyed today.

Best film I have seen in ages
28 December 2021
Love love loved it. A genuinely heartwarming tale - a delightful little girl, a moody teen and a struggling father together with some glorious animals, beautifully filmed and sensitvely written. What else could you need.

Perfick - just perfick.
23 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'd forgotten just how much I loved this programme. Everything about it is right - as Pop says "just perfick". Watched the reboot recently with Bradley Walsh, who I adore, but it just didn't come up to scratch. Not even close to this series. Love love love it.

Like leaving sugar out of a cake
19 December 2021
No spark between the leads, a reasonable tale to be told but let down by virtually every character. Afer about 10 minutes, I was ready to turn it off.

Very pleasant especially for kids
16 December 2021
An oldish story told again, with a couple of little twists, but generally a very nice little film which is more about the Christmas spirit than loads of CAD trickery. Certainly worth a watch.

Rather disjointed
10 December 2021
Quite a pleasant little film, but it seemed to jump all over the place with no real continuity. Loved the family scenes especially as I know very little about the Jewish faith, so found them interesting. No real spark between the leads.

Different but in a good way!

Being a pianist, this was a joy to me! A slightly different slant on the usual movie, but most enjoyable to spend a couple of hours just lazing and watching. Marie Osmond is a lovely cameo - always loved her voice.

Slightly different and very close to my heart as a story. Beautifully told and all the actors are wonderful. Left me in tears (of happiness). Well worth a watch - a delight.
