Wyatt Earp (1994)
One of the worst scripts ever
I don't know what to say about this movie. There are so many flaws. Where does one start? It's like looking at a bombed out Dresden and trying to figure out how to start the cleanup. But the biggest problem with this disgrace to cinema is the script and the so called writing. Boring, two-dimensional histrionic characters right out if a scooby do episode. A plot that goes nowhere. Decent actors being humiliated with atrociously emotional and inauthentic dialogue. Poor pacing. Setups that don't payoff. Was this written by an orangutan?'it's blind to the reality of what really went on and trying to promote a false revisionist history. Disgusting.
Virus (1999)
Who produced this garbage?
One of the worst movies ever released. The production value, timing, pacing etc are all terrible. Whoever produced this garbage did not do her job. And it shows. What a terrible movie. Jamie Lee and Donald have a unique bond. Both of their career low performances are in the same movie, together! And it's Virus! Aside from them, inner city middle schoolers could make a better movie with refurbished smart phones. Hell, orangutans could make a better movie. This is the type of movie that will put you off of movies. For good. Whoever produced this should have been run out of Hollywood and banned for life.
Holiday Harmony (2022)
I am going to come right out and say that I love this film!
I am going to come right out and say that I love this film- it is so important to me, that its one of those rare few films that don't want to see too often (six times so far and it's been out less than a week), so I can preserve some of the original wonder that I felt when I first saw it. It nourishes me as an artist and a human being.
This film is what I think great romcom can be. It has terrific acting, a beautiful simple story, wonderful production values, and of course that score- certainly one of the most beautiful and haunting scores in the history of romcom film.
What it has that is most important, however, is heart. This movie has a wonderful message about what it means to be human, to be alive. What better metaphor for the sheer passion of living than the exhilaration of simply running as fast as you can.
This movie is as close to pure perfection as any romcom made in the last five years. As one woman wrote, watch it with your children. Mine loved it!
The Fabelmans (2022)
If "great stories happen to those who can tell them", who did the holocaust happen to?
If "great stories happen to those who can tell them", who did the Holocaust happen to? Seriously this is some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard uttered in a movie theater. And I saw Showgirls back in 1995. Aside from the film's expansive issues with a boring story, silly cartoon characters and caricatures, and mega cringe dialogue, the acting leaves a lot to be desired. I'll give the actor playing Spielberg some credit, it can't be easy playing someone like that FOR someone like that in person. For anyone who has seen this movie, awards talk is a joke and if this gets nominated it's proof the academy is completely corrupt.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)
Masterfully executed classic
I hate Russel Crow but I have to admit he can be a great actor. This film is beautifully shot and impressively made. Wish they would make more of this series.
The Accountant (2016)
So many guns
John Lithgow is amazing but the constant gunshots and endless murders were just too much. But most people probably won't have a problem with them. Afleck is a better director than actor.
Raising Cain (1992)
DePalma's worst
Whoever talked Depalma into making this garbage should be run out of Hollywood. It's beyond bad and not fun, cheese or camp. It's just bad, like low budget b movie bad but with a list actors. It has the look and feel of a student film. A low budget first time student film. Maybe depalma ages backwards?
A California Christmas: City Lights (2021)
Thanks netflix!
I woke up with insomnia this morning and this was the first thing netflix showed me. Honestly, I thought it would help put me back to sleep. But it was such a fun ride, and such cute characters. Clever writing and a heartfelt story. I stayed up watching it and didn't get back to sleep lol. You don't need to see the original, I haven't yet and I really enjoyed this.
Succession (2018)
Like a train wreck you can't turn away from.
No likeable characters, but amazing talent. Great show about a bunch of dark really empty lives. It's fun to laugh at them because they have so much money.
