Charlotte Gray (2001)
Beautiful depiction of 1940s France
I adore this movie. It is an extraordinary tale of one woman's courage and passion during World War Two. Cate Blanchett is remarkable and vibrant as always. She is really one of the most talented actresses. Billy Crudup is very charismatic and charming. This movie is both beautiful and tragic. It is definitely worth watching if you are looking for a film that will keep you fascinated and entralled. It's worth renting just to see the excellent chemistry between Blanchett and Crudup.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)
A beautiful and captivating film!
"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is a beautiful and captivating film. I have always thought that the cover looked appealing, so i recently rented it. The dialogue is so compelling and real, a trait that is common for Tennessee Wiliams's plays. I feel as if Elizabeth Taylor was at her personal best in this film. As Maggie, she is desperate, while still maintaining a sense of dignity. Her determination and humor make her the character you are most likely to be rooting for. I feel as if this film is about so much more than homosexuality (a topic the film had to be clandestine about). It's about loving someone who no longer loves you, learning to say goodbye, and accepting responsibility. These are topics that never grow old. If you like good acting and brilliant dialogue, this film will appeal to almost anyone of any age.
