Fantasia 2000 (1999)
A timeless film with some of the best animation I have seen.
I think the concept of a visual concert is amazing. I love watching how the music fits with the excellent animation. I do have some problems though. Some of the segments just went on for a little too long with too little story, just carried by visuals. I like the visuals of course, but sometimes it overstays it's welcome. The whale scene is very majestic, but gets a little boring after a while. My favorite ones are definitely to New York one, Donald the Ark, and the Forest spirit one. They are just so well done. I am in awe of the animation and music. I actually like this one significantly more than the original (hot take) I felt like it was just more engaging and some of the original segments are very boring and go on too long. This movie is just so incredibly timeless and is a must watch for animation fan and Disney fans alike.
Bolt (2008)
I wouldn't say it is amazing, but pretty good.
This movie is quite generic. The animation isn't that good, it has celebrity voice actors, the story is generic.... But it is cute and sweet. The premise is so unrealistic that it is laughable, but it is interesting. I like the side character Cat, and Bolt is a decent protag. There just isn't a lot to talk about. It was pretty entertaining through out, but wasn't laugh out loud funny or that emotional. It is just average. If I would I would rate it 6.5 out of 10, but I can't because it doesn't let me. It is definitely barely a seven. I liked it as a kid, but now I am just kinda bored with it. Fun concept, some fun characters, but average nonetheless.
The Rescuers (1977)
A cute underrated film
I found this movie quite entertaining. I actually really like the villain even though is similar to Cruella. The titular mice, though not that interesting, aren't bad character who are smart, funny, and cute. The poor little girl in this movie is very cute. I actually felt bad for her. The movie has a pretty basic story, which I will take over a complex plot. I just like watching these mice bond and try to save this girl. The villain's motivation is pretty good, the side characters are pretty good but forgettable mostly. Yeah, The Rescuers is just a great time. I also found the music to be great. I thought the beginning song was really great. I didn't find this animation to be the best just because it is very similar to most of these 60's-70's Disney movies. I recommend this movie!
The Sword in the Stone (1963)
Just a unstructured, useless, mildly entertaining movie
This movie literally is a mess. It has nothing in terms of interesting characters or plot. The main character is dull, Merlin is fun but doesn't carry enough, Madam Mim is also fun, and all other characters are not good. This movie is just a series of random misadventures that don't really teach the main character anything. The Mim wizard fight is entertaining, but doesn't amount to anything. Nothing amount to anything. This kid doesn't deserve to be king. They shove everything important into the ending. This movie just seems very poorly thought out. It isn't even that entertaining. The only characters I like are Merlin and Mim. It is just so weird and unstructured. I really don't like or recommend if you have time on your hands. It is just a waste of time.
The AristoCats (1970)
Charming, but pretty boring.
I found this movie to be a decently entertaining little watch. I like the cats, Edgar the Villain, and song. But, it is just kinda nothing. It doesn't have the best animation, it is just a little too sketchy. I didn't find the story that interesting, they are literally just finding their way home. Edgar, the villain, is hilariously petty and funny, but not amazing. I just kinda found myself bored with the predictable plot. The characters aren't that interesting. The orange cat isn't that good of a character and just exists for a love interest with some personality. I just didn't connect with it. I really like the beginning though, before the predictable-ness starts. Not my favorite thing in the world, but decent nonetheless.
The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
A great time, but I kinda cringe sometimes.
I feel like this movie is supposed to be a zany time, but sometimes it just gets a little cringy and weird sometimes. Like that song with the white mouse is just cringy. It was so weird. But this movie is also funny, well animated, and has an amazing villain. I found Basil to be kinda annoying. He just kinda is really bratty sometimes. I really like the side characters too. This one kinda blends in with other movies because it was another talking animal sketchy style Disney movie, which Disney has made a lot of. It is engaging, funny, and delightful, but could maybe do just a little better. I completely get why this movie has so many fans. I wouldn't consider myself one of them, but great movie nonetheless.
The Good Place (2016)
Funny as heck and super interesting and smart
This show is actually super smart. It created such an imaginative and smartly crafted afterlife for our characters. Every season is superb. I love when they go back to earth for a second shot. I love the first season when they don't know what is happening. I love the character development of Michael. This show is also just SO funny. I laugh constantly. Kristen Bell is so perfectly casted in this show that it is insane. The ending is so thought provoking and emotional. It is just great that they make characters and develop for such a satisfying ending. This show actually got me interested in philosophy. This show is just one of my absolute favorites.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
One of best movies I have ever seem. So depressing and emotional
I am never watching this movie again. It broke me in a way no movie has ever broke me. It is one the single greatest movie I have ever seen, but it is just so emotional and depressing to the point that I never want to see it again. It is so incredibly well crafted. The characters are so well realized. This movie also brought me my least favorite person I have seen on screen, the aunt. This aunt is such a terrible person and wanted to punch her so badly. But she is still an amazing character. She is supposed to be this terrible guardian figure because she wants these children to be useful, which is completely in line with how most people probably thought back then. I have never cried watching a movie, this one is no different, but it was so close. I just don't cry a lot. But most people did which makes complete sense. Everything is so realistic, more realistic than almost all movies. The characters don't go through arcs, but the world simply attacks them and kills them. The message and portrayal of war is so realistic and depressing. I cannot stress how this movie has effected me. The SNACKS I ate during this movie I don't like eating anymore because they just remind me of the utter depression and emotion I felt watching it. Watch it, just know you won't forget it when you're done.
Mulan (1998)
Perfectly crafted, beautiful message, amazing job Disney
I feel like this movie just doesn't really have anything to really complain about. Does it have issues. Yes. I think sometimes the humor doesn't really fit the tone, I SOMETIMES found the side characters to be annoying, but everything else is just perfect. I think the concept of Mulan is just so well realized in this movie. It is so effective about telling how Mulan turned into the hero of China, even though she started out so incapable. She genuinely earned her achievements over the men. It is just a good message for young girls: Effort and hard work will pay off. I think the side characters are funny, and Mushu is great most of the time. The emotions of this movie are felt so well. I did find there to be some filler that I didn't really find interesting, but wasn't that bad. The music is genuinely amazing, the animation is also very well done. I also found the oppression towards woman to be quite realistic. The villain isn't that complex, but he is still threatening and very well designed. Some of the action and ending is a little childish for my taste, but I still enjoy the other parts. I just love this film. It has some minor flubs, but I just simply look past them for the most part. I am going to put this at a 9/10 just because it has some flaws. But, Every movie has flaws. I just found to impact, experience, and craftsmanship to be 10/10. But flaws still exist, my 10/10 movies have problems, but the peaks are simply higher and the valleys aren't as bad, even though this movies flaws are not bad, they just could be better. I just love this movie still, Good job Disney.
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
One of Disney's Best. Amazing characters and songs.
I just love this movie. The music and songs are just perfect. The villain is one of my favorites, and Tiana is just so likable. The middle does kinda drag, and I do agree that Tiana shouldn't be turned into a frog, but Naveen went through an arc by being a frog and started loving Tiana during frog form, so it isn't just a waste of time. I love the slapstick and humor. I never found any of the characters unlikable, I thought they are all funny, emotional, and crafted well. I don't have any complaints besides that when I was a kid the plot was kinda difficult to understand, but I was kid, so who cares. I love the ending and beginning so much. I found Tiana's journey to making her restaurant believable. She had some struggles, she almost gave up, but she did it. I love this movie. Just go watch it.
Tarzan (1999)
Amazing animation, good story, great characters. One of my personal favorites.
This is one of the only movies that I will get MAD at you if you hate. Usually I just kinda respect your opinion, but you don't get that luxury with this movie. I watch it excessively growing up and it is actually probably the most important movie in my life.
Okay fine, some things COULD BE BETTER. Like the songs could be sung by the characters, the emotional moments can maybe be even more emotional. But, otherwise this movie is just perfect.
I watched a video of all the Disney Movies ranked, and of course they put this one low. One of his main points is that the emotional reconciliation between Tarzan and his gorilla dad is rushed and bad. Yes. If you think about it. But I simply don't like overthinking movies do hard. I actually found this point kinda bad though. Because the father is dying, of course he doesn't want to die with him and his son on bad terms. Okay, he was kinda a bad father who was never nice to him, and Tarzan also was basically the reason he died. In a perfect world, Tarzan would apologize. But in the end they are both on good terms, even if it is kinda unrealistic.
The animation is so good, better than even some of the later movies. It is so well done.
I really like the characters too. The weird O'donnel gorilla is kinda annoying, but isn't too bad. They do sometimes add some filler that I don't care about, but also isn't the worst thing ever.
The songs are perfect, even with Phil Collins. The emotions are still conveyed very well through him. I think they all are bangers besides the stupid filler camp vandalizing song.
I dunno, this movie could be better in some areas, but doesn't do anything badly, just somethings less than stellar. I can't describe how much I love this movie. Just watch it.
Zootopia (2016)
Such a good movie, just don't start overthinking the entire premise.
The premise is all about race, which is great. Would I say it works super well with prey and predators? No... but that's when you start thinking about it too hard. At surface level, it works. I think the message is great and like the concept. It's when you start thinking about how it works in this world compared to the real world. Just don't worry about it. To be honest, what we have still works.
I love the characters so much They are all funny and memorable. Nick is legitimately amazing. The world is also superb, brought to life by stellar animation.
I find the emotional beats to actually hit. I really like how the world is going through a racial crisis and how realistic is sometimes seems. Some lines and visuals portray this concept excellently.
Now to talk about the sheep villain. Okay, sure, she's kinda a bad twist villain. But her motivation are good and I think she is still somewhat threatening. I didn't expect her at least. I don't find to be bad, just kinda strange to shove her into the last few minutes. Shoot me, but I actually kinda like her. She just works. I think it is hilarious to have a INNOCENT lamb be a villain.
I really can't stress how good this movie is. Just go watch it.
Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)
Fun to Watch, but it just isn't good.
I found the first movie to be amazing, but this one just destroys everything. The first time I watched it when I was 13, I liked all of the brands and websites. But now I realize how stupid they are. THEY ARE JUST MARKETING YOU. It isn't a boring movie, like it has some fun scenes like the princess one and a few great moments. This movie kinda just doesn't know how a story should work. Ralph is just annoying. I don't like that he is constantly overprotective of Venelope even though she wants to do her own thing. It's like the overprotective parent trope but theyre not father daughter, they are just friends. I was just kinda disappointed. I legitimately thought I was watching the Emoji Movie at some points. I dunno, It could be worse and it isn't boring. You can like it, I just kinda think it's lame.
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
A diverse, emotional masterpiece
I really love this movie. I do feel like the overuse of Stitch in merchandise and media isn't the best, but this isn't hurting the movie. This movie is just so emotional. The realistic situation that Lilo and Nani go through is truely heartbreaking and uncomfortable well done. The alien stuff, even though it isn't nearly as interesting, is well done in its own right and has some fun side characters. The animation is also amazing. I love the design of the characters and landscape. The songs are also great. I feel like the more "filler" stuff is fun and does contribute to some character development. There isn't any major problems or flaws with this movie. It is just an amazingly well done masterpiece that I have grown to respect and enjoy. (I actually really hated this movie as a kid, but I love it now )
Hercules (1997)
Aesthetically amazing, great songs, good story
This movies is probably one the LEAST boring Disney movies. It is just so much fun. I love the character designs so much. The voice actors compliment these designs so well too. I wouldn't say it is Disney's funniest film, but it does have some great laughs. I do sometimes feel like they might try a little to hard for laughs though. Some of thee jokes just aren't that good sometimes. This also might just be a me thing, but I really don't like Phil. He kinda just annoys me sometimes. Some of his jokes aren't good, his song isn't my favorite, but they did put some emotion in his story that I do enjoy. But all of the other characters are just great. I love Meg. She is just so sassy and well designed. I love her song and her romance with Hercules. And do I even need to tell you that Hades is great. He is probably the funniest character in this movie. His line deliveries are amazing, his design is genius, and all of his comedic energy can also turn into him being actually threatening and menacing. The main song also just slaps. I love it's emotional weight and beauty. The plot is kinda unfocused sometimes though. I also don't really like how modern it can feel. This is supposed to be ancient greece, so I don't super like seeing pop culture stuff appear. But I do also understand the zany style it has, so this does kinda at least justify it.
Pocahontas (1995)
Not Infuriating, Well done animation and music
I feel like most people just agree that this movie is boring, which is very much is. I do kinda also get that people don't like how inaccurate the story is. I just kinda see it as an fictitious adaptation. I don't really think this movie was really trying to be accurate, because to be honest the Pocahontas story isn't really that historically documented. I like how they use the beautiful Native American America as the setting. I think it is very well made. The colors and landscapes are just amazing. The first time I watched this movie, I actually kinda like in spite of the overall negative reception. I wouldn't say I LOVED it, but it was okay. It is indeed boring, the characters don't really possess much personality. The entire movie feels very drawn out and thin. Some of the songs are amazing, such as Colors of the Wind. I would not be lying if I said this song kinda skewed me into liking this movie, cause without out it I would probably hate this movie. Everything in this movie is actually really forgettable besides it. But this song is just a gem.
There really isn't a lot to say about it, but it isn't really that bad and the animation is amazing. But the romance, characters, and historical paralleled message about the harsh treatment of Native american's are overall poor.
Frozen II (2019)
Not well thought out, made just for the sake of money.
Everyone wanted a Frozen sequel (not me), but this is what we got. I cannot describe how confused I was after watching it. The plot is just objectively bad. I was confused, so I am sure children will be. The story just feels like they were trying to hard. They just add a bunch of random side characters that are flat and don't contribute much. I still like Auna. She is still her fun spunky self. But every other original character is either worse, or just doesn't get to do anything. OLAF IS NOT FUNNY IN THIS MOVIE. It is even kinda debatable if you was even THAT funny in the original. His entire story in this movie is that he "doesn't understand anything". Yeah, your a flipping snowman, so why is this relevant? The songs are also kinda hit or miss. Some of them kinda live up to the original Frozen musical magic, but that stupid Olaf song is genuinely awful, the beginning song is whatever. Into the Unknown though is a lot of fun and Auna's ending song is great. But I feel like this movie desperately wants to be and live up to the good(but not great) Frozen. It does not do that.
Overall, the plot is just so poorly made to the point that everything wrong with the movie comes down to it. The animation is absolutely stunning, but everything else just kinda doesn't work. I guess if your 5 year old daughter wants to watch it, then just know that it could've failed even harder.
Treasure Planet (2002)
Decent, but confusing and problematic
Unpopular opinion, this is one of my least favorite Disney movies. I completely understand the cult following, but I just kinda checked out after the first half. I like the aesthetic, but not too much. I like John Silver, but not alot. I just kinda felt like they were a bit ambitious and tripped over some basic story telling things. Like they side characters are fun, but don't really get to do a lot. The point that Doppler and Amelia fell in love is the stupidest thing ever. They got not a lot of screen time in general, so why should I care? I despise the robot side character. The ending was also kinda messy. I really just couldn't focus on a lot of the movies action scenes. The main protagonist is also just kinda boring. He is just a generic teenager. I feel like this movie could've justified being amazing, just flubbed a little and got a little carried away for my taste. Good, but not remarkable.
Brother Bear (2003)
A great movie that has some really underrated stuff.
For some reason people don't like this movie? I found it emotionally amazing, visually perfect, and surprisingly funny sometimes. Okay fine, the middle isn't as interesting as the beginning or end, but it isn't bad. It isn't as filler and childish as I thought it would be. The only thing. I don't like in this movie is Koda's voice. Everything else is great, maybe somethings could be done better. Like the emotional reconciliation between Kenai and Koda could've had NOT a song playing. But this scene is still emotionally effective, just could be better. THE MOVIE IS SO GOSH DANG PRETTY. Alaska is one of my favorite places and the movie portrays its beauty perfectly. I dunno. Just watch this movie.
Oliver & Company (1988)
Its not close to one of Disney's Best, but not a terrible movie that is sometimes fun
I have only seen this movie once, but it isn't that good. I found some of the side characters to be annoying and bad. Some of them literally have so little personality that I forgot them immediately. I actually really like the music though. The beginning song is actually super underrated, the Billy Joel dog song is great, and the "You and Me together" song is sweet. I also really like the villain for some reason. I just like the concept of a classy loan shark villain. Otherwise, I found the story to be kinda predictable and boring, and the overall idea of the movie just doesn't really click for me. But I can get why some people really like it. I wouldn't call it underrated because I don't find to be that good, but some of you think so which is great.
Dinosaur (2000)
I found it SO boring, but still has breakthroughs.
This movies opening is actually amazing, but then on is so dull. The character designs are also boring. Most of the story is not interesting and is so hard to get invested in. I like some of the characters, like the lemurs, but most of the characters I literally cared so little about. This movie does have interesting animation like live action backgrounds. But looking back on it today, the effects and animation looks extremely dated. I found the first Toy Story to look significantly better even though it is older. This movie was just so boring to the point that every try for something emotional or interesting just didn't stick because the characters have no personality or defining traits that make me care even a little bit. It was just a suffer to watch. Obviously this is an opinion. Some people find this movie to be underrated. I just don't find anything in here to be exceptional or even that good beside to music. I really wouldn't recommend watching this, even if you have time to kill.
The Fox and the Hound (1981)
A very cute, surprisingly emotion, underrated movie
I was actually surprised how sad this movie was. It has some powerful elements that makes it interesting. It is also a very cute film. These cute animals are endearing and fun, and the human characters are also great. I did find this movie somewhat boring and generic, but not too bad. It does fall into some Old Disney traps like random love interests, some boring filler, etc. I think the relationship between the titular characters are cute, heartbreaking, and emotional. I also found the final bear fight to be a lot of fun. This movie is so often overlooked over better movies, but it is still great. Underrated, fun, but can be a little generic.
Boy Meets World (1993)
This is one of the best shows I have every seen.
One day I just randomly decided to watch this show. This decision has changed my life. I absolutely love it. I then proceeded to watch it 4 more times. I absolutely love watching Cory go through life issues and grow up. I definitely think the middle season are some of the best television I have ever seen. The beginning is kinda weird and they really know what they want to do, and the end is just a little too weird when it comes to Eric (this obviously excludes some episodes like the finale). I will literally never get tired of watching it. It is sometimes the funniest thing ever, and sometimes a emotional powerhouse that gets you so invested in these characters. I do feel like Cory and Topanga go through some unnecessary drama that I don't like, and Shawn sometimes just doesn't work for me, but I adore this show and it is one of my favorite shows ever. ( Feeny is literally one of my favorite characters in any piece of media)
Meet the Robinsons (2007)
Underrated, but kinda weird
Every time I watch this movie, I get a weird existential dread after. I literally don't know why. Reality just feels fake and dreamy. Probably just a me thing. But this movie is great. I love the villain so much. The Bowler Hat guy is just comedic gold. I found Lewis to be a great protagonist. His backstory and mindset is believable. I also love going to the future and meeting the quirky Robinson's. I found them super weird and kinda useless, but fun nonetheless. The humor in this movie is surprisingly amazing. I found myself laughing a lot more than even the best Disney movies. One thing I really don't like are those terrible songs that play at the end and beginning. I found them really bad and kinda triggered that existential crisis for some reason. But holy crap, this movie an underrated gem in Disney's catalog.
The Black Cauldron (1985)
A boring, sometimes annoying movie, but not too bad.
Reading all of these reviews made me realize that I am probably in the minority when I say that this movie isn't that good. I found the protagonist's and side characters boring and annoying. The movie's plot doesn't flow well at all. I the beginning with the pig, but then they just drop that. The stupid little monkey has legitimately the most annoying voice and character. Him sacrificing him self was not emotional at all because he is so unlikable. I can see the hype behind the horned king though. He is just epic and well designed. He is not smart, but definitely menacing, which is nice for a kid's movie sometimes. Overall, I found the plot boring, characters (beside villain) to be annoying and generic, and the animation to be pretty good. I can see why it has a cult following, but I am not part of that crowd. Just didn't click for me and didn't enjoy it, but definitely underrated sometimes.
