The More Love Grows (2023)
Loved it
This is already one of my favorite films.
It had a really strong theme of growth, among several of the characters, in some surprising ways. And there were opportunities to take the easy way out for a lot of the characters, and it was interesting what each ultimately chose.
Rachel Boston and Warren Christie were natural together, and it good to see them each growing and maturing as actors. And we certainly saw a new side of Linda Boyd.
There were some characters that seemed like they were going to be important that got lost in the shuffle for a while, but that really is how life goes sometimes.
Bones: The Doctor in the Den (2009)
Angela sexually harassing coworkers
It isn't cute or funny just because it is a woman making the men she works with uncomfortable. It is great that she embraces her sexuality and has self-confidence and a free-spirited nature, but that is not what she was doing here. At all.
It was gross and pathetic. It is not just that her coworkers are scientists and a bit nerdy. Her actions would have made anyone uncomfortable, and they weren't even appealing advances. They were juvenile lechery. And I can't believe how long her bosses and coworkers let it go on.
The rest of the episode was good, and the case was interesting. It is a little confusing how the other interns and scientists keep changing and coming back in different episodes.
My Boss' Wedding (2021)
Didn't make it 10 minutes in.
The acting was so bad ... stilted, unnatural, overdone by every actor, so if that is what the director wanted and/or accepted, that's a big issue.
The script was heavy-handed and the physical comedy wasn't funny. Oh, I have to whisper because of this wedding, despite the fact I've been talking at normal volume and it's been fine, because I'm 60 feet away. Oops, I bumped into the waiter with a tray of glasses and everyone turned around. So, of course, I don't apologize to him. Instead, I'll yell my apologies to the wedding. And then interrupt them a second time. That should be funny!
The characters were all one-dimensional.
How did they get Drew Seeley, who has been in movies before, to be in this mess?
I want my 9 minutes back.
Road Trip Romance (2022)
So stupid
I usually love Hallmark movies, but this is incredibly bad in every way: the plot is juvenile; the acting exaggerated; the directing uses the same gimmicks repetitively during the festival; the dialogue is immature.
I've been wishing it would get better or be over since the first couple of minutes. I'm an hour and a half in, and the first one isn't happening. Thank goodness the second will.
The Wedding Veil Legacy (2022)
Can't get past plot hole
In what world would a random Italian tailor in New York be the "perfect" person to fix a snag in the lace of an 150+ year-old veil?
Emma had just married into the di Stefano family of lace-makers, whose ancestors had created that veil for a member of the family. And the snag happened at the wedding in Italy, with the entire family RIGHT THERE. Emma could have left it with the family and they could have fixed it and sent it to Tracy. Neither Emma nor Tracy seem concerned in the least about the damage.
I know they needed a way for Tracy to meet Nick while in possession of the veil, but they could have found a way that wasn't complete nonsense.
