Heart of Stone (I) (2023)

Very good for a made for TV movie
11 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In line with Mission Impossible, this new action film appears where the Heroes are female.

It's not an AWESOME film, but it's very good to watch, with a bag of popcorn next to it.

Gale Gadot is great in the lead role, and we can expect more adventures from this new secret agent.

Jamie Dornan as the bad guy is excellent, and Hollywood newcomer Alia Bhatt is superb in her role.

With a very fast pace, the action scenes are well built, and reminds us of a mini James Bond, with lots of explosions and the use of many technological gadgets.

Filming in different locations keeps the action interesting

Note aside, in Lisbon we don't eat "Tapas", here we eat Pasteis de Nata (custard tarts)

Summer blockbuster, to watch with popcorn.
2 July 2023
This will be the last time that Harrison Ford will appear as Indiana Jones, and I think after so many adventures it's time to hang up the hat, or not.....

A truly hollywood-style movie, explosions, chases, explosions, villains, impossible scenes and lots of action, but.... The story leaves a lot to be desired.

An uncreative argument with many gaps, and a lot of fiction in a story that intends to be realistic.

I liked the references to other Indy films, and the appearances (in a farewell tone) of other characters from this saga.

Great acting from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and a surprising new actor Ethann Isidore. 👍 Sadlly Harrison Ford shows that he his tired of the part, and you can feel that it's a stuggle till the end, to get the job done. 😥

But it's just another summer blockbuster, to watch with popcorn.

08/10.

So, but so BAD .....
31 August 2022
This is my go site to read about the films, after iv'e wachted them, i dont like to get influenced by others opinions, and ive been a member of IMDB since 2001 and this is one of my greatest dissapointments, Get Out, was amazing 10/10, Us was much much weaker 2/10, but this Hope .....

Its a total MESS, no coherence, no history, no nothing, just a bunch of running, and sounds, and so bad FX

Daniel Kaluuya is a great actor, but lost in this film, as are the others.

The title is right 👍 If you go to a movie house, and see a film called Nope, Nope its your best choice, you save some money and 2 hours of your life.

Can i give 0 Stars ?

De Palma hits the floor ....
5 October 2021
I've been a fan of Brian de Palma since the Greetings movie.

To me movies like Phantom of the Paradise, Carrie, Body Double, Scarface, Blow Out and Dressed to Kill are classics and brilliant movies.

But these last few years, it's been getting worse ..... Why ???

If the screenplay is no good, why make the film anyway???

This Domino is really weak, 81 minutes of film! I even had to take a half hour break to make it look like the movie was bigger....

But even so, it is far below what is required of a Master like De Palma.

6 September 2021
It was a very good series until the end of episode 2 ..... And then the enlightened of the producers decided to change the main actors....

WHY ? 😲 Don't you know makeup?

It has been around for several years and with excellent results 😁 After episode 3, I got lost and lost interest....

So bad and a waste of time
27 December 2019
This pretend-to-be-a-comedy is really not funny Trying to emulate the real-life dickhead addicted to his cellphone, but the actor was not capable of connecting with the character And what where the writers thinking about when they put the sex-with-the-phone thing? OMG! Too bad to be true. The only good thing was seeing the beautiful Alexandra Shipp

I was going to give 0 stars, but it's not possible here

The world of the rich and loosers
20 October 2019
This is a very well done movie by Steven Soderbergh who brought us other brilliant movies such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape.

Its a pleasure to see Meryl Streep in a different role, and she is brilliant. Oldman and Banderas also are great doing the Mossack Fonseca duo

There is a bunch of other cameo apreances to look for, can you find Will Forte ....... i did.

Only gets 8 out of 10 because sometimes it gests too confused.

Warning: Spoilers
After a GREAT trailer, i was expeting a great movie. Just look at the cast, John Travolta , Morgan Freeman, Robert Patrick,Famke Janssen, Brendan Fraser (he gained a lot of weight !!!), but no, a ton of stars isent enough to make a good film. After this a thought to myself that its better to see the trailer and forget about seeing the full movie What a mess .... cant think of any more to say except for the hillarious part where ravolta is hugging Fraser and Frasers gets shot in the back, and amazingly the bullet kills freaser passes to his stomach gets all bloody and it doesent kill Travolta !!! He was 6 inches away from the guy who got klled. What a mess

1 star out of ten and its more then it deserves

So bad .... that hurts
19 February 2019
I had high hopes about this film, the likes of Matthew McConaughey, the charm of Anne Hathaway, and especially the presence os Diane Lane, made this a MUST see film. But it all fell apart, as the minutes went by, too much male body, and not enough credible story.

Its was 1:46 min wasted

2 out of 10 is the most i can give it.

Too see more then once, a instant classic.

I haven't been so excited about a scifi movie in a long time

Spielberg just hit the Jackpot, its a visual journey through Pop Culture from the last 30 years. So many easter eggs that you have to watch it over and over again to get them all. The IMAX 3D version is worth the money and the story is very pleasent and credible (havent read the book) Its a 140min of a journey trough all the things you love from the last 30 years, from Saturday Night Fever, to The Shining, to all the movie and computer games heroes. Very well played by Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke are great in their parts.

And Steven Spielberg is as young and fresh as a daisy

Top my list with 10/10

Too much gibberish, Oh George what have you done !!!!
1 January 2018
Im a huge fan of the Star Wars saga since i saw the first one in 1977 After being overwhelmed by the announcement of the last 3 episodes to complete the 9 part saga i was waiting for something good from this instalment. But what i got was a bunch of new toys specifically designed to feed the game/toy industry. The script it was written for a comedy not a Sci-Fi movie, the only thing good on it was the Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) character, very convincing and well played. The rest, just forget it, it was worse than seeing Jar Jar Binks again. I miss the pure enjoyment of the real Star Wars Oh George what have you done !!!!

Waiting for the final one, don't blow that one too please.

4 out of 10 is the most i can give it.

Nice try, but there is only one Blade Runner
5 October 2017
When i saw the European premiere of Blade Runner back in 1982 i thought I've seen the future, and 35 years have past and the future is now, but not as dark as it was portrayed in that masterpiece. I always thought that there could not be any remakes or sequels of a perfect work of art. When it was announced that Ridley Scott was working on a remake/sequel i wished it was a rumor. But it was not. After seeing the new Balde Runner 2049 it confirmed my suspicions. Why do they had to recreate scene by scene from the original ? The trash car, the umbrellas, the "throw the hero into the wall" the Atari, Pan Am, Coca Cola ads, the viewing of photography's, and zooming on them, the music is a Copy of the Vangelis masterpiece ..... even a "new" character that looks almost like Pris .... and bringing back Rachel was not a good idea. Harrison Ford should have refused this part. OK the newer generations will love it, but its all about CGi. And real Cinema is not CGi, its story telling and acting. 7 out of 10 is the most i can give it.

What a mess
22 March 2015
I watched the trailer and i was compelled to watch this film immediately, the kind of story, and above all the presence of the beautiful Emmanuelle Béart, of witch a'm a fan from back in the 80's.

But i was disappointed from almost the beginning of the movie, the story is a mess, between a confused adolescent, a confused middle-aged-BDSM-woman, a cheating-with-your-best-friend, and all together make this mess, that the director and witter, didn't know how to solve.

Is it so difficult to tell a story ? beginning, middle part and ending, with some kind of sense ?

What Stephen Lance (i know it's his first major film) did was just a mesh-up of situations and none of them make a connection, and when you wait for 1h35min for some kind of explanations, BANG !!!!, nothing.

Lovely Emmanuelle Béart, you should of stayed in France, and skipped this film.

The 3 out of 10 is almost all to you.

Nice Friday-night-movie
8 March 2015
Based on a true story this is the 21st film by Sweedish director Daniel Alfredson, an unknown to the general public, apart from being involved in the Millennium Movies and TV series, he is still an unknown outside Europe.

Anthony Hopkins is the major star in this film an with some short appearances he grabs the screen, this movie without him it wasn't a movie.

Although the great effort by Jim Sturgess and Sam Worthington, they don't gave enough of what was expected from these kind of actors.

I think the movie could explore more the tension between the kidnappers, and the relation with the kidnapped.

It looked like i was watching a Documentary and recreation of the events.

Tomorrow ill forget this film, 5 out of 10 because its always a pleasure watching the one and only Sir. Anthony Hopkins.

The Interview (II) (2014)

Total wast of time
25 December 2014
I've just finished my 1h 52min of watching The Interview. I know that "everybody" has to watch it after the Sony scandal, but such a mess for this ????? Give me a break, this film sucks, the argument is so predictable and with nothing new to offer. Bad and reused-a-1000-times jokes, and the actors are on minimal services. James Franco, has nothing new to add to his career with this type of characters, and Seth Rogen.... what is new about this actor ? Randall Park did a good job portraying the cruel Kim Jong-un, as well as Diana Bang as Sook character. Apart from having the opportunity to see the beautiful Lizzy Caplan, there is nothing else good about this film. P.S. loved the Ellen DeGeneres joke and the lovely dog. 4 out of 10 is the most i can give it.

What a disappointment
3 August 2013
Mr Paul Schrader

Your a decent filmmaker with titles to your credits like Hardcore 8/10, American Gigolo 6/10, Cat People 9/10 and Mishima 6/10 (these are my scores) to name a few, and now there is The Canyons .... what a disappointment.

Lindsay Lohan ??? is she even an actress or someone with a so/so face a some b**bs ?

James Deen 1013 films to his credit !!! that's impressive, but in ALL of them the thing he uses best is his lower head ....

Mr Schrader, did you saw the casting before shooting ? They don't act, at some parts they look like they are reading the lines.

And what happened to the camera ? it shakes all the time, is that a new trend, low budget or just bad professionals ?

The only thing i liked was the soundtrack, really well chosen and right for what was happening on the screen.

I like the writing of Bret Easton Ellis, but this story was kind of a mess.

Mr. Schrader, i hope to see a good movie from you, the next time.

Open letter to Mr. Brian De Palma

Open letter to Mr. Brian De Palma

Hello De Palma, i love you so much, from your early movies till 2 hours ago. This is a BAD movie, from what you used to make. BAD acting ( Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace are excellent actresses) BAD artistic direction a PREDICTABLE argument. I'm so mad at you, i was hoping that you, with age, got better, but only the last 20 min of a 96min film !!! What happened to your Passion for real screams, and real fear, and most of all believability in a movie ? Where is the director of Phantom of the Paradise ? with such beautiful shots and magical music ? Where is the director of Obsession, Carrie, The Fury and Dressed to Kill (for me your best in the genre) with such memorable moments that made me chill, and grab my seat in amusement ? Where is the director of Body Double with such a good use of spinning around a scene, so it would engulf us in the moment ? You came back in Femme Fatale to this genre and made a good film, with a excellent script and excellent actors, but this ? You know how it's done, you just have to sit down and re- watch some Hitch movies, and re-watch some of the above, and choose a good crew and script. Sorry, but i'm so mad right now. I hope to love your work again

PS. I only mentioned movies on the category of Crime | Drama | Mystery

Luis
