Death on the Nile (2022)
An Engaging Watch that Stays True to the Novel
As soon as I heard about the release of Branagh's take on 'Death on the Nile', I knew I just had to see it. After thougroghly enjoying his adaptation of 'Murder on the Orient Express', standards were set high and I'm pleased to say that they were met. The film comes packed with a great cast and excellent acting especially from Bateman and Branagh himself. It'll have you gripping onto your seat as you try to figure out for yourself who the murderer is, with there being more than enough clues for you to do so, without giving too much away. If you can get past the slightly questionable acting during the opening scene bar one, the rest of the film leaves you with a pleasant watch. Even the opening war scene, which at first seems confusing adds effect to the film as a whole. Overall, it's a great effort from Branagh to and even though it's not without its minor flaws, he's successfully managed to capture the feeling that Christie's novel gave me when I first read it.
