This scrpt was written for Rogers, and it shows. Everything that makes him a star is highlighted. Relaxed, easy talking, says a lot with a squint. He's charming. Terrific young star as TJ, that is a perfect match. The movie is simple, but revealing. Fascinating portrait of Texan ranch life. You feel the wide open spaces, the simple beauty, and the hard work and heat. A must-see for Rogers fans and fans of West Texas Larry McMurtry stories.

Kay Can't Save This Stinker!
10 January 2022
Danny Kay brings his best, but his best can't save this clunky, unfunny movie. It's a special effects movie with a poor, unoriginal script. This movie shows us that you can take outstanding technical production values, add one of the most talented actors of his generation as the lead, but without a talented script writer, you can still make a stinker.

Lookinland Carries This Weird Acid Trip
10 January 2022
Heard about this via the Nilsson biopic. Saw it for the first time. I couldn't relate, but thanks to the incredible voice work done for Oblio by Mike Lookinland, I wasn't alone. Like Alice in Wonderland, Oblio doesn't fit in, and isn't welcome where he finds himself. Lookinland kept the movie moving forward with his stunning innocence and acceptance of the bizarre characters throughout the movie. I didn't know whose voice was Oblio until the end, and it blew me away. For a while, I thought it was an actress, not a real kid.
The animation reminds me of Yellow Submarine and Peter Max. The music was incredible, amazing originality. This was quite the vanity project for Nilsson. His album bombed and this movie was forgotten. Hope it finds a new audience.
