May I Help You (2022)
I had too high of an expectation, needless to say I was disappointed.
The story started off good, was predictable, but still good, yet as we progressed I completely lost interest.
There are multitude of reasons for that. For one, the drama has absolutely not explored the female lead, like at all, all we know about her is her pretty one dimensional background and yes, of course that she is willing to wait for the male lead. Nothing more than that, it wasn't touched how emotionally exhausting her job is, or how she deals with it at all. We do not take a deep dive into her world of emotions, or how complicated her everyday life might be getting due to her job.
It makes you wonder just how can she possibly be emotionally available 24/7 for the male lead and is willing to do quite possibly everything. It gets tiring after a while and makes you see how extremely shallow their relationship is.
Not to mention the side stories were much more interesting than the main. That's enough of a testament to how extremely repetitive and annoying the main story was getting.
The plot was getting dragged on and was getting forcibly continued. There was not a speck of interest left in me by the end of the story and that should say enough.
My favourite character might just have been the uncle(similarities probs?)
No character got me emotionally involved in them. Like no one. For the latter half of the story I probably had a 'meh' expression on my face.
I guess after watching few korean dramas like Vincenzo and Flowers of Evil, I had too high of an expectation which pretty much got trampled. Point to note: I am not an avid k-drama watcher, yet I had been lucky enough to always chance upon gems, probably the reason for such huge disappointment.
Chhorii (2021)
The story greatly disappointed me.
The overall premise was good but as the story progressed ,it got dumb. The way they highlighted such an important issue like female infanticide was completely off the mark. We all know the brutality faced by women all around the world, and the way to deal with it is not to give out some nicely written out speech to the offenders and that's what Sakshi exactly did, she just sort of humiliated the family that did all those crimes and then walked out like nothing. Those who commit crime know very well what they are doing and some words from a woman isn't gonna change their whole rotten outlook. And tell me, exactly how can she walk out like nothing after all that and nothing exactly happens to her? She is in the den of tigers and a freaking maze and she doesnt know the way out yet she walks out all swaggy and the movie ends. How she gets out from the maze, not explained, how she dealt with the those criminals, did she involve legal procedures or she left it at that? Not explained. And the most poorly wirtten character was of Hemant, we all knew who he was halfway through the story. And please don't think you can act all heroic, go without food for days, do strenuous exercises all the while being pregnant and be completely fine, that only happens in movies.
