Ted Lasso (2020)
You have to watch it multiple times.
So even if I didn't now know the benefits of multiple viewing's I would still absolutely love this show. But only since rewatching and savoring the minutia of the dialogue can I say this show is one of the best ever.
There are some great Lasso sites online that go into all the ways to get the most out of the viewing experience also.
It fun to try to guess the arc of each character and predict how things will be in the next few episodes. Also to learn to appreciate the nuances of each of the characters.
Ted is a genius of a man in a plain down to earth presentation. All the other characters complement him as the star.
Alone (2015)
Complete foolishness
The first 2 seasons seemed fairly legitimate. Then so so for a season or so. That is taking into consideration the inevitable silly conversations etc. Also the self reflection comments. Still you had the sense of them actually going through the experience.
Now however it is just of the charts bad. I truly believe that they are actually cheating with the time lines and a lot of the footage takes place very close to the beginning and they just say in the show that they are in day so and so much further on. No way can these people look so fresh if they were living off the land. Also the totally unbelievable actions and overacting you see. All the tap outs are for a perceived illness or injury. Self created drama all done right in front of the camera. Never seems to fail. Also some of the ridiculous events listed now. Shooting a small animal like a squirrel with a bow is next to impossible. The guy ghat throws a rock high into a tree and kills a squirrel. Even thinking you can kill a moose with a basic bow and then worse claiming you actually did so. He has the meat but could he have really skinned and prepped it like he did ? Could he have really carry all that meat and then stored it? Wouldn't most of that meat gone bad ? Or been taken by the other animals. Then folks storing all this food without it going bad.
What about the contestants running towards bear with how in hand thinking they would actually be able to kill it??
Licking the blood from a dead squirrel??
Eating squirrel intestines? New looking white jacked for a woman? Blush lipstick still visible after 2 weeks?
The ridiculous carving of instruments and making clay pots, playing cards, saunas, furniture and the list goes on. You get the idea. Complete and utter fake tv now.
Kathleen Madigan: Hunting Bigfoot (2023)
A real treat.
I have he of her but have never realized how funny she is. Very funny using situational comedy about her life and observations she makes you giggle and laugh out loud with every line delivered.
On balance a very good show without ever having to stoop to sex or cruelty which is always a tell tale sight they are a class act. Big foot doesn't come around until the final gag but it's worth the wait. You won't be sorry watching this. Makes me want to find out where I can steam her other specials. Or perhaps if she was in other sit coms or films. It a pleasure to watch such a show without having to sink to the depths of gross humor.
Port Protection (2015)
So silly.
I'm giving this show a five due to it is actually better than many other reality shows on living in the wild or mining/ fishing etc.
The scenery is great and you do actually learn some things about living of the grid.
Having said that even though the premise is a good idea the result is still still unrealistic and manufactured situations.
Too many to list but hunting while smoking or ocean fishing in a boat that is clearly not maintained properly to be ocean worthy. It's down right dangerous some of the things they show. Anyone watching could be falsely led into thinking that it's acceptable to be as unprepared or lacking in skill to be ok only to discover if they actually tried living like this it could result in a very negative outcome.
While not as bad as shows like gold rush in the personal drama and confrontation it should be only watched with a grain of salt.
The Hurt Locker (2008)
But it's a survivable wound sir!
But the Major let's the Iraqi bleed out anyway.
Very good movie about the addiction and the high of warriors. There's not a lot of violence and gore except the scene where he takes the bomb out of the boys body.
Just like love can be a drug war can be a drug also. That's what this movie is all about.
The Director also directed zero dark 30 about the raid to capture Osama bin Laden.
