The Social Network (2010)
One of my favs
Jesse Eisenberg did such and amazing job portraying Mark Zuckerberg! I also have to applaud Andrew Garfield for his performance in this movie as well. This was so engaging to watch and really opened my eyes to the story of facebook.
The Usual Suspects (1995)
AMAZIN
I was on the edge of my seat for this entire movie. I just adore the twists and turns this movie makes and the brilliance of the camera angles and the acting. Every actor did an amazing job in this movie! Def a top one for me!
The Woman in the Window (2021)
Amzing
I really loved this movie. It gave a very in depth and good layout of how agoraphobia works. It reminded me a lot of Rear Window by Hitchcock. Very creepy and will def be watching again.
Titanic (1997)
Classic
This movie is a classic. I love the story and the actual research the directors did on the titanic. There is a documentary on Disney plus that gives a really in depth look on how much research they did for the movie that was really impressive!
Tome of the Unknown: Harvest Melody (2013)
A great opening
I have seen some hate that the opening to Over The Garden Wall didn't connect and it was kind of random. I personally watched this after the show but it was so adorable. It made me very happy to see an extra and I highly recommend the watch (especially since it's only like 9 minutes)
Young Justice (2010)
Nostalgia
I am now 18 and watching this again. It gives me such nostalgia. This show was one of my fav dc shows back then. I absolutely love the animation and character design aswell!
Cloverfield (2008)
Love the first person view
I love the first person view of this movie it's really amazing. The creature itself is extremely terrifying and they find a good way to give us suspense.
12 Years a Slave (2013)
Very powerful
This movie showed the diversity in treatment of slaves. It was able to really show some of the horrid treatment. For graphic reasons it doesn't go into the really bad treatment but shows enough for you to understand how the slaves were mistreated. I love the story telling I'm this movie and how the story evolves. Reminds me a lot of the Harriet Tubman movie that came out.
Fight Club (1999)
Amazing
This movie is so amazing. The only sad part is that it's taken over by incels and they praise the exact things this movie was made to mock. The cinematography in this movie is gorgeous and totally worth watch!
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Bomb af
This movie is something that I have never ever seen. It continues to baffle me and amaze me. I love the score and the insane creativity that was put into the storyline. My favorite part about the aftermath is coming up with your own theories and then going and reading others. If you love sci fi this is a must watch.
The Godfather Part II (1974)
Not as good as the first
I really loved the first one. I think that this one was okay but not my favorite. Took a lot of brain power for me to sit through this and actually watch it!
Over the Garden Wall (2014)
Absolute Diamond
This show is so amazing. The way they are able to make something that can be so dark but so fun and playful at the same time. The animation is pristine and the acting is even better. I love the scenery and the basis of the story. I also love the score so much. This a show that I come back to over and over and over again. Please watch this.
King Kong (1933)
Must watch
If you enjoyed the more recent King Kong movies this is one that is definitely a must watch. I have heard a lot of hate from others on the claymation of King Kong himself but I really enjoyed it. For the time this movie was made the ingenuity and craftsmanship of all of the different aspects of this film are extremely creative. It did so well that they went on to make many other additions to this franchise.
Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922)
Basically created the horror genre
Learning about this film and how it was shot is so entertaining. The storytelling and just overall tone of this film gives you that sense of horror. The actual creation of Nosferatu is very terrifying. The actor who played him in real life got a lot of hate because people actually thought he was a vampire.
Le voyage dans la lune (1902)
Amazing
I love the scenes in this movie so much. The set design and just the immense creativity of the writers is actually amazing. I watched this in my film class. The moon is my favorite part.
Coraline (2009)
Exceptional
This was one of my favorite movies as a child. I love the trips the Coraline herself takes and the colors that they use. The claymation is absolutely Devine and I to this day still enjoy this movie and watch it one a rainy day. Please watch this!
The Great Train Robbery (1903)
Classic
This movie is definitely a classic. It's super entertaining to watch and the story line is very good. It's humorous and I highly recommend this movie.
Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920)
Stunning
I watched this as a film student. The version we watched has the almost jazz like score to it and it was a very interesting take on the original score of the movie. As for a silent film this one does the horror genre so much justice. It's creepy in a sense of ambiguity and not really knowing what's going on. The set is one of my favorites and adds a very creepy aspect to the movie.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Terrifying
I am an avid watcher of horror films and this is one that actually scared me to death. The mystery of the witch and what she looks like and the call backs from the other piece of footage they have is just amazing. The storytelling in this is very affective for this kind of film. The movie the Ritual is very similar to this with the aspect of them running around in the woods.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Mind Twist
This movie is a series of mind twists left and right. I really enjoy to concept of it but wished that the acting or execution of the film was better. But as someone who really enjoys horror movies this is definitely a fun one to watch.
Jaws (1975)
Stunning film
This is one of my favorites. First of all the score of this film is absolutely stunning. I mean the theme used for the shark is known on a global level. The acting and character development is one of my favorites and I really enjoy the scientists character. There is something about him that is extremely like-able. My favorite part about the actual shark itself is that the robot couldn't sustain in the water and ended up breaking down. So they used the barrels to try and show where the shark is. It actually adds this element of mystery and horror that's extremely affective. The behind the scenes footage is also very entertaining to see.
The Breakfast Club (1985)
Must see
This movie is so iconic and so extremely well known. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and I adore the style of the cinematography. It makes me laugh that it's still considered a rated R movie but I highly recommend the watch.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Absolutely a MUST
I'm not usually one to enjoy these kinds of movies. I typically like to go for a sci-fi or a horror movie. I watched this with my mom and it was amazing. The acting is stupendous and the storytelling really transports you right into the story. They did such a nice job of even identifying the problem with institutionalism and expressing it through the prisoners. I actually live near the prison this was shot in and think I may be taking a tour there now. (The prison is closed down and haunted so you can go and actually tour it)
