Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Never liked Khan
I never liked the TV episode Khan, I never liked Star Trek II, the Wrath of Khan I never like Ricardo Montalbán, a second rate actor - Cesare Romero he is not - and now Darkness features an overrated "Khan" in Benedict Cumberbatch, overrated as Sherlock to say the least.
So Star Trek Into Darkness, in in my view, a crappy film, and I like the new Star Trek movie series.
I found the first Khan TV episode crap (and I like most of the episodes), the second movie crap (maybe I just do not rate Montalbán) and Into The Darkness because of the first and second points and also, I find Cumberbatch as annoying and devoid of talent as Montalbán, in whatever either 'actor' does.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
Mediocre, at best
Wasn't impressed, not in the least.
A waste of my money. Poor acting, lovely scenery, won't be buying the DVD.
Not anywhere near JRR Tolkien's book. Peter Jackson should be ashamed of himself. But he won't be. He'll reap the millions. He did great with the Lord of the Rings series.
But this movie is crap. Poor acting, poor script, poor plot, great scenery.
Jackson deviated big time from the original story line.
Poetic license? Or just arrogance. I think the latter.
And the acting by the actors leaves a lot to be desired.
My advice, give it a miss.
The Password Is Courage (1962)
It is a load of tosh and history proves it
I thought it was a very entertaining film, as good as the Great Escape. But the facts prove that most of these events did not happen. Mr Coward, IMO, fabricated a lot of it to build his own story and ego. Check it out if you do not believe me. Despite a grandson of his claiming that Coward's story is totally true, the facts do not substantiate this.
I would like to believe that Mr Coward was indeed a brave man, but honorable? And just because he acted as a technical adviser on the film proves nothing. Just a man who is repeating his exaggerations to the film's producers. Who is to call him a liar? There is no substantive evidence of what he claims is true. I have researched it throughly.
IMO, Coward (what an irony) cobbled together a number of stories of other exploits to form his own little story. And he was not the only one to do such. But how disingenuous, when knowing that there would not be people to collaborate his story.
The film was good entertainment though. But fantasy for a large part. There are so many holes in the story that it is a wonder that Alice did not fall through some of those holes.
