The Marvels (2023)
Marvel wrote a movie for me
They wrote this for me- 40 something female nerd with a love of subtle NIN tshirts, the Evita soundtrack, kittens, singing, sisterhood and space aliens.
Not sure what the hate is for this movie, tonally it was in step with the guardians movies in terms of how it meshed humour and action, and it wasn't an excitable unsubstantiated mess like Thor: Love and Thunder before it. My only criticism is i still don't care much for the Kree or Scrolls as side races they are a bit _meh.
Nick Fury and Ms Marvels family are supporting stand outs.
Nod to how fantastic Captain Marvels dress was in "that scene" - add another Princess to your list Disney.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Those Old Scientists (2023)
Lot of love went into this
I wouldn't say it's the best script ever but there certainly was a lot of love poured into this episode.
Kind of wish all four key lower decks characters got thrown back into time, it was a joy to watch them come to life. I felt like doin some of the SNW crew where a bit harsh to ST:LD crew, or grumpy / maybe it was just a reflection of how mismatched the tones of the show are next to each other. I enjoyed the injection of Spock humour in this episode, was a stand out for me alongside the bartending sequence.
It was a fun romp, I'm grateful they created the cross over. I will continue to love both shows separately as intended!

Thomas Jane delights in this aussie drama
Honestly I'm not into crime dramas so I don't see the feedback on it being "on format" for the genre.. all i know is the characters were delightfully rich and deep from Thomas Jane to the chick who stars opposite him and beyond.. really consumable drama, a solid result abc.
Only thing that was a bit off was people wearing jackets in the outback? I thought it was like 30+degrees in winter.
