Fingernails (2023)
A Don't Watch
This movie feels like trudging through pudding. Every moment is weighted down with unnecessary glances and so many dramatic pauses and staring off into space.
From the ridiculous test required to see if you are truly in love to the skydiving over wooded areas every thing about this film proves implausible.
I find it hard to forgive these actors making a movie like this where I sat for two hours waiting for something to actually happen. Eventually, I just didn't care about anyone.
By the end, I wanted to take a Time Machine back to the original set and drop a bomb on it so none of these people could ever make another movie.
Morganville: The Series: Glass House (2014)
The Blood Was Drained From This One
The premise is ridiculous. Everything is so on the nose, anyone would burn this town to the ground and take a garlic bath. The stereotype bad girls border on hilarious as does the blonde queen of the town. Acting lessons would serve her well, her strutting and mugging is tedious from her first appearance on camera. Thank goodness someone had the good sense to stake this abbhoration in the pilot stage.
Riverdale (2017)
A Good Show Gone Off the Rails
Season 3 of Riverdale serves as proof that there is such a thing as too much, and I mean way too much. Multiple serial killers, every single character corrupt in some way, 17-year-olds running nightclubs and everyone running scared of a stick figure extra from M. Knight's The Village. Throw in seizures, corrupt jails, corrupt mental hospitals and the entire police force and you have a stew suffering from every possible chef tossing in their favorite ingredient. With a great cast and a story that began as intriguing and fun, it has gone completely off the rails. The only reason to watch anymore is to see what additional ludicrous plot point they can throw at us each week. We play a drinking game when we watch. We get to drink every time they introduce another stupid plot line. Needless to say, no ones left standing by the end of the show.
Limelight (2017)
Poorly written, predictable plot, average acting
A lot of stereotypes here, nothing new. Unlikable characters and looked very amateurish. Pretty much a waste of time. I'm not sure how this movie got made, but ugh.
The Lodge (2016)
A confusing mess
From the misguided premise to the sub par musical numbers this show reminds me of a plate of buffet food you thought looked good but ends up being a distasteful mess that leaves you feeling nauseous. It's not the actors fault, more the lack of a strong, compelling through line as the show struggles to create so many antagonists and weak storylines I'm ready to storm the lodge with a torch and a crowd of angry villagers.
United States of Tara (2009)
I needed 4 personalities just to watch it!
Really, this is such a step down for Showtime, Spielberg and what's her name. I find myself saying, "Now why would they do that," the entire time I watch it. There are so many conveniences built in to move the plot along, so many silly sexual scenes to try and shock and the characters are so disconnected I don't know why any of them care about each other at all which makes me not want to care for any of them, period. Unlike other reviewers, I'm not concerned about the approach to this particular disorder. It's television after all and I'm looking for an escape, not reality. When you can have a brain transplant in daytime television, I'm fine with creative license. Just make it entertaining!
