All American: Now That We've Found Love (2023)
Season 5, Episode 20
8/10
Suprisingly good ending to an emotional season
26 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start off with saying that the main reason I love this show is the Spencer/Olivia relationship/friendship. From the moment I stumbled across the show, I fell in love with it. A major part of that was firstly the character of Olivia and the way Samantha Logan portrayed her. Secondly, it was the obvious chemistry between Spencer and Olivia from the get go. I was bummed when they remained merely friends but I eventually accepted it, deciding that the show was still too good to give up even if a Spencer/Olivia love story wasn't in the cards. And then Vegas happened...

Now, after season 4 let me down (majorly disappointed that we got to see them as an actual couple for such a short time after the longest build up), I came back for the 5th season hoping for a Spencer/Olivia reunion. Season 5 turned into the worst emotional rollercoaster I've been put through in years and here's why:

1. THEY KILLED OFF BILLY BAKER!! REALLY?!!

Yeah, I know it was Taye Diggs' choice to leave but Billy's departure could've been handled way better. I personally liked the idea of Billy accepting a D1 coaching job across the country, possibly ending with him divorcing Laura (which would've made him an a$$hole, especially since they just renewed their vows) or dying slowly from an illness so there would've been time to come to terms with his absence from the show. The whole bus crash storyline was just overall poorly done.

2. THEY DENIED US SPENCER/OLIVIA!

Until literally the last scene in the season finale. I almost cried out of joy, so damn happy for that airport kiss. Actually, the whole episode was really good. Spencer having a terrible British accent was hillarous considering the fact that Daniel Ezra is actually British. I'm just so damn happy and relieved that S6 will (hopefully) contain the Spencer/Olivia reunion I've personally been waiting for since May 2023.

3. ALMOST RUINING THE OLIVIA CHARACTER.

Like stated earlier, Olivia has been the main reason for me watching and loving the show. But after her driving while drunk with Spencer, begging him to take the rap for her, there had been several episodes where I've seriously questioned her behavior. Especially towards Spencer, and it nearly caused me having anxiety watching season 4. After being such an amazing and supportive friend to Spencer, she started treating him badly once they were a couple and that didn't sit right with me. For that, I blame the writers for nearly ruining a beloved character that will hopefully redeem herself in more ways than one.

Greenleaf (2016–2020)
8/10
God is good. All the time.
2 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wanna start off with saying that the main reason I've watched this show three times (so far) is Grace Greenleaf. Sure, there were other characters that greatly contributed to the storyline but watching Merle Dandridge bringing the character of Grace Greenleaf to life was what kept me watching season after season.

Now, with that said, I can't in good conscience give "Greenleaf" a higher score than 8 out of 10 stars. As with all shows, it didn't manage to maintain a strong storyline throughout all its seasons. Because I liked the show so much, I seriously wished the people responsible would've done some things differently:

1. Gotten rid of Charity (and Kevin by default.) The character (in my personal opinion) brought nothing to the story expect childish behaviour and boring storylines. Each time I watch the show, I fail to see why she was in the show to begin with. Would've been much better with just Grace, Jacob and Faith.

2. Not killing off James Greenleaf. I mean, WTF? You had him survive that heart attack earlier in the show and finally reconcile with Lady Mae only to have him die just as they were getting re-married and starting over?! Nope, sorry, not gonna forgive you for that anytime soon.

3. Removing A. J. from the story entirely, or at least have him be Faith's long lost secret child. This entire storyline was just all wrong, especially for Grace. And really made "Greenleaf" look like "Days of Our Lives" with the sudden appearence of a secret love child. It also screams desperation to attract viewers and I'm so over it. It changed my perspective of Grace and not for the better.

In the end, I still really like the show and enjoy the drama going on with all the twists and turns. Would've loved for the show to have more episodes per season and more seasons overall. I also *really* hope that the talked out spin-off show will happen eventually and obviously I would want it to be centered around Grace's life in New York but you can't have everything...

Epic (2013)
8/10
Underrated movie with a whole lot of heart...
7 March 2023
I first saw this movie with my then 12-year-old niece at the cinema and have personally loved it ever since. Partly because the movie makes me think of my niece but also the storyline stuck with me. Even though it's not a Disney movie (although Blue Sky Studios/20th Century Fox is now owned by Disney) I really enjoyed the movie as a whole.

Having just re-watched it on Disney+ I can clearly see how the animation can be improved due to advances in technology and since the movie is now a decade old. But it's still really good animation with an interesting storyline what with the hidden world within the forest. I've personally always liked these type of movies and Epic makes me think of the Tinkerbell & The Great Fairy Rescue (which I also liked) amongst other similiar movies.

The only thing I find myself not loving about Epic is the casting of some of the voice actors, because I found that they didn't quite bring the characters to life in the way it was probably intended. The comedic and witty banter was somewhat lacking, especially when compared to Pixar movies and we as viewers always naturally compare the movies we watch.

I also feel that there could've either been a movie sequel or that a new adapation of the movie can be made into a mini-series, so that the storyline is explored even more and we'll have more time getting to know the characters, their backstory and in general experience more of this beautiful hidden world.

I'm normally not one for remakes since it usually ruins a good thing, but in this case I just feel that this movie's potiental wasn't entirely fulfilled and with today's animation (and a little bit of pixie dust) maybe it can made to be truly epic...

Dash & Lily (2020)
5/10
Read the book(s) instead!
28 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Against my better judgement, I decided to watch the show and purposely waited until I'd finished the book. I checked it randomly from the local library to have something to read until my ordered books arrived, and I quickly became hooked! I knew the show wouldn't be as good as the book, but I still expected more. Especially with one of the authors working as a writer for the show. The show was obviously very loosely based on the book and lacked alot of the best scenes/dares, as well as the on point writing that made the characters loveable and me laugh out loud several times. Some of the things that was changed/left out: Lily's ethnicity, Boomer's personality/ethnicity, Boomer meeting Lily under different circumstances (helping Dash with a dare for her), Sofia and Dash's relationship (he was simply "fond" of her at the most), several dares for both Lily & Dash was left out, Lily finally becoming a dog owner, Dash spending the Christmas holiday at his mom's apartment mostly because he had a pretty close relationship with her and the New Year's Eve scene in the strand was way better/longer in the book. Also, there's actually a trilogy of books regarding Dash & Lily. READ THE BOOKS INSTEAD! THE SHOW DOESN'T DO THEM JUSTICE! So much better writing, loveable characters and more interesting storyline.

No need to see it more than once...
23 February 2023
For obvious reasons, I knew going in that this movie wouldn't measure up to the first BP movie. Still, I rarely miss out on watching a Marvel movie but in the end, I personally feel that this movie was barely worth the price of the money ticket. Especially considering when it was released on Disney+ like two months later. I've seen it once and have no desire och interest to ever see it again. This is one of the latest Marvel sequels that was just simply disappointing, overrated and overpriced. A sign that the Marvel movie magic is wearing off and that they're gonna have to work harder to measure up to the early movies' standard...

Third time's not a charm...
23 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wanna start off with saying that I had really high hopes for this Ant-Man sequel, especially considering how good the other two movies are. My personal favorite will always be "Ant-Man & The Wasp" and so I was hoping for "Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania" to be an equally good continuation, but found myself being let down. We all know what the general rule is; the more sequels, the lesser the quality. I personal feel that Marvel usually succeeds at this while most others fail, although there has been several sequels lately that just isn't as good as expected. But still, in my excitement for the third return of one of my favorite Marvel heroes, I was very hopeful for this movie. All in all, it was better than some of the other Marvel sequels I've seen recently and that's mostly because of Paul Rudd and the overall casting of the Ant-Man movies, alongside a well-rounded script that contains both action and comedy. I however was disappointed in the development of Cassie Lang, both the fictional character and the new actress. I loved Cassie in the first two movies and while I realize why they needed an older actress post-Endgame, I still feel they could've done better. I also would've liked to see more of Scott and Hope's romantic relationship, as well as the Lang/Pym/Van Dyne family dynamic. This movie was obviously very much about introducing the Kang character, which I was not impressed with at all. In the end, what I'm left with is a feeling of unfulfillment and putting even higher expectations on a future Ant-Man sequel to give me the same joy as the first two...

Judging Amy (1999–2005)

Still waiting for a dvd release...
5 August 2022
I've re-watched all six seasons more times than I can count at this point, much thanks to the constant loop of reruns on a local tv station. Been waiting/hoping for a dvd release for over 10 years and still don't know why it hasn't happened yet.

Season 6 ended somewhat with a cliffhanger and after recently reading that it was supposed to be a 7th season before the cancellation, I've often wondered about the possibilities of another season. Maybe we finally could've seen the Amy/Bruce storyline I personally hoped for since the very beginning. The sad part is that we will never know because they pulled the plug too soon...

Cult classic that deserved more!
5 August 2022
I still can't believe this show only got 13 episodes when far less superior shows has gotten *seasons* without being cancelled! It had so much potential and could've lived on for several seasons and a few movie sequels. Gone too soon...

Remington Steele (1982–1987)
9/10
Timeless classic!
5 August 2022
I first watched this show at 13 years old (one of the local tv stations were airing reruns in 1999) and fell in love instantly. The chemistry between Laura and Steele was at the time something I hadn't seen on a show. Their bickering and flirting was exciting to watch, not to mention the clever writing of the cases that kept me as a viewer intrigued and somewhat clueless until the very end.

At 20-years-old I finally purchased the entire series on dvd and re-watched all the seasons; including the 5th season for the first time as it didn't air in Sweden back in the day. I fell in love with the show and the complicated relationship of Laura and Steele all over again, discovering new details about the show I didn't as a 13-year-old.

Now, at the age of 35, I have re-watched the dvd's again and found new things to laugh about and can relate to the character of Laura Holt on a whole other level. She is by far my favorite character and Stephanie Zimbalist did a wonderful job of bringing the character to life; a strong, confident and capable working woman in the 80's that became the role model for a whole generation. I was also pleasently surprised to see a comedic side of Pierce Brorsnan as Remington Steele (had only seen him in action movies before then) and now any other role I see him in can't live up to the dashing Mr Steele.

Few shows have had such an impact on me as "Remington Steele" and I see clear similarities between this show and other future detective/police shows. I'm sad it didn't get more seasons but mostly I'm disappointed the way season 5 was written and how it ended. It didn't go together with the other seasons and this show truly deserved a strong final season, hence my rating.

Deserved more seasons...
5 August 2022
Still one of my absolute favorite shows; I've watched it 3-4 times and own it on dvd. One of the things that got me hooked was of course the time travel, but also the three main characters. They fit well together and although I'm a Lucy fan, this show had a lot of good characters with depth.

The writing was really good; both dramatic and comedic. I really wished we could've had a few more seasons (before the time travel thing got too repetitive) because the show held such promise. I'm however really grateful that we got the special which provided some closure.

Rizzoli & Isles (2010–2016)
9/10
One of my all-time favorite shows!
4 August 2022
I just started re-watching this show on a streaming platform (even though I have all seasons on dvd) and I still love it as much today as I did 10+ years ago.

I was a huge fan of Sasha Alexander as Kate Todd in "NCIS" so naturally I was thrilled when I discovered this show! This was actually the first time I got to experience Angie Harmon in a show (never saw her on L&O) and I looooved her as Jane Rizzoli.

In my opinion, Jane and Maura's friendship was wonderful and the actresses played off each other beautifully. I was however not very pleased with the ending, hence my rating. But compared to how many of my other favorite shows has ended (or not) this was a decent ending to a great show.

Virgin River (2019– )

One of my favorite Netflix shows!
4 August 2022
I got hooked on this show its very first season and although it's quite different from the other shows I watch, I simply can't get enough! And every season ends with a cliffhanger that leaves me wanting more!

For various seasons however, I must say season 1-2 are currently my favorite. Just finished season 4 and there were a few details that made it a bit "daytime soap" but the last episode really turned it around!

I'm loving Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel and she's been the main reason for me watching the show. I'm pretty sure we'll at least have a season 5 and hoping they'll prepare a nice happy little ending just in case the show won't be renewed. This show really deserves a proper ending!

Such a waste of time...
12 June 2022
At first, I was super excited when I heard rumors about a RR reboot. I thought it would be similar to the recent DuckTales reboot which I truly loved, although I was skeptic at first. Growing up with the old-school Disney animation, I'm always a little hesitant whenever a reboot gets made in modern animation style. But such is life. However, when I first saw the trailer for this movie (that I thought was gonna be a show) and that it would be nothing like the original whatsoever, my hopes were shattered and rightly so. I mean, I actually cringed at the sight of different animation styles in the same movie (never liked those type of movies) and the storyline was just so terribly boring. This movie could've been way better with a different approach to the storyline and they should've stuck to one type of animation. I decided to watch against my better judgement and that's on me. God, I hope RR will eventually get a series reboot to make us forget this travesty...
