This movie goes way too fast for the subject matter and tries to explain complex abstract concepts without giving time for the viewer to comprehend and digest what is being portrayed.

The opening scene is very confusing and i had no idea what was going on.

I gave up 1/4 of the way through.

Some good actors though.

Once you see where Ben goes, the rest is pretty much predictable, cliche-filled and delivered with over/poor acting.

The actors aren't that good either.

Save yourself the the 1h37mins and see something good.

If you paid to see this movie, you should ask for your money back.

Another dreary and irritating idea, of alleged high quality scientific professionals suddenly behaving irrationally, childishly and becoming very unstable & volatile, all while inhabiting a metal box in space.

Then there's the appearance of clumsy current age handheld devices being used in 2056 when the German woman goes out to test the comms device.

Really? Really?

And then we have the display panel of CCTV camera that are around the vessel, with the text "CCTV" at the top in the center - really, is that the best name the set designers could come up with? And why have any text at all, since this panel's its purpose is quite clear to even lower intelligent people.

This is quite a tiresome "movie" without any real story, much like the tedious Away 2020 saga (a complete waste of your life to watch that), that was supposed to be about going to Mars, but it was, like this ill-thought out garbage, all about alleged adults who are top end professionals behaving worse than little children and flying off the handle at any moment and becoming emotionally volatile at a moment's notice.

Please stop making these terrible movies. And go back to film school, Mr director.

When will Americans stop making these awful, dreadful, boring, terrible and pointless, cliche-filled "movies", with the obligatory "ah my gawd", "like" and "really" festooned all over the place.

Don't Americans have any more interesting words they can say?

Don't waste your time. Much more interesting to watch paint drying.

A unique, sensitive, touching and lovely film, with stunning visuals and color. This is a great example of the type of film only the Japanese can produce and it is carried out with great imagination and thought.

A must see. It might make you cry if you do.

I am not sure if I fully understand this film at this point, but I had to watch it 3 times (so far) to reach an understanding of what i think is the story.

I do like the moment when Fred is on the roof of a building with Cindy and she explains to him the pointlessness of most people's lives and all the nonsense almost everyone fills their life and minds with. Few people live in the now and learning how to do this, is very important for everyone, for now is all any person ever has. Ever.

Will watch it a few more times in the near future, including rewinding, etc.

A strange film. Shame Mr Hopkins put hsi good name to this "film".

Save yourself the time and the mental taxation by trying to follow what is going on.

Starts off OK-ish, I suppose, but it slowly becomes not worth watching.

Lots of weak points in the film, an aspect that is all too common with modern films.

...we should not have to wait 2+ years for part 2. That is a super shortsighted decision because many won't remember the details of what happened in part 1.

Visually spectacular and better acting. I just hope part 2's story line is as good as the visual impression.

Kudos to the director. Nice to see some new faces in this version, even though that was highly likely, given the time between the 37 years between the 1984 version and this version.
