Dances with Wolves (1990)
The best film of all times
Dances With Wolves is the best because it's about the most important thing in life - to live the longest possible and the closest possible to freedom, unlimited, ideal as a being can. The art is communication and the greater value the art form is relating to, the higher quality it has.Because what is more valuable than the objective representation of lesser limiting. You can use it and get to the knowledge and of course ameliorate your life and lives of other beings. That is precisely what Dunbar did. He went over the limit (the border)closer to freedom (the plains). The experience of higher value, better life was obvious to him. But we can't be free. We can only get so close as our potentials permit. Unfortunately, life is war, which we will lose, but we can decide how long and of what quality it will be.So Dunbar lived it to the fullest possible, but he was not narrow.Every being is fragile and because he knew it, he helped his friends (the warning about the arrival of the army and his escape in other direction from that of the Indians)as they helped him (the rescue from the army). In this way the Indians too could live it the best possible. The gratitude was expressed especially beautiful by the legendary scream from the cliff by Wind In His Hair. This is the reason why Dances With Wolves will be watched by many future generations.Similar can be said for The Shawshank Redemption and Papillon.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
On the way to Freedom
One of better of all times.Shawshank as a metaphor for surroundings of a human being, unfortunately more evil averagely,Andy for wiser, more just human in interactions with it.He confirms the rule that more just, wiser live longer and better because their ability is closer to the Ideal,Absolute. This humans can go closer to All,Unlimited because they understand themselves and the world more and better. With their wisdom they choose actions which lead them to lesser and lesser limitations.Andy is smarter and he sees the way out(a pipe) of bigger suffering over the river(closer to Freedom)which flows into the Pacific(Silence,Freedom). That scene when he exits the pipe and lifts his hands, smiling while the rain is falling on his face, is first among more astonishing in the history of film.On his way to Big Pax he doesn't forget others which need redemption.Red is among them (great Freeman who has the best last name a man can have and especially a black man).He is a killer so he can only partly redeem himself.Andy helps him and others showing them better way in life(cold beers, library, education).Red almost looses the will to carry on (Brooks)but Andy lifts him.And than the final embrace scene on the beach of the Pacific(Freedom)which is also among more beautiful in cinema.Because of all that The Shawshank redemption is a artistic masterpiece which I watched and will watch many times.
The Black Stallion (1979)
Great freedom film
I watched it few times many years ago.Freedom movies i like the most. That riding on the beach is one of more beautiful in the history of film. What makes it so great is your own experience of the feeling of limitations diminishing.Scenes like these lift you up so you can go for more.It is only pity that the sequence is not longer and has not slightly more inspirational melody. Two beings connected with their similarity which is love of independence, harmony.Overcoming the obstacles on the way to the ideal.Mutual help without interest if other needs it finishing in triumph. No wonder that "The Black Stallion" is the movie of which Mickey Rooney is most proud of.
