The Twilight Zone: The Parallel (1963)
Almost a classic
This is one of the better season 4 (50 minutes) episodes. The Parallel is about an astronaut coming back from a space mission to find,as the title suggests, that although things seem normal at first,he starts to notice minor details of his life are different ie a fence around his house, hes a major instead of a colonel etc.Gradually his family start to act uneasily around him.Not the most exciting twilight zone but a very interesting idea that has been copied since by many sci fi films and shows. The actors put in good performances and the atmospheric feel of the show is well done.Just one minor detail that didn't ring true was that the President was different(hardly minor).
Magical Mystery Tour (1967)
For Beatles fans only
Widely regarded as the Beatles first flop here in england, the passage of time and glorious colour have mellowed the criticism it received on its first showing at Christmas 1967.This was the back end of flower power and the beginning of the end for the fab four, who had just lost their manager Brian Epstein to a drug overdose and it shows. Its a very shoddy and amateurish attempt by the group who proved that making films should be left to people better qualified. This is for Beatles fans only, some great songs, magical mystery tour, fool on the hill and i am the walrus ,save the day.If your not a Beatles fan but like anything 60s and psychedelia give it a look
Frank Sinatra: The Main Event (1974)
Sinatra What more do you want!
surprised to see only one previous comment on this spectacular show Frank at his brilliant best including all the big hits. Got this on video called My Way It has three parts a 60s special,The Main Event and a Japanese gig from the 80s all great. To think i used to regard Sinatra as some old geezer(he was 54 at the time) Now you see the likes of Paul McCartney, elton, roger daltrey, mick jagger etc still going strong in their 60s it makes you appreciate how good this man was. That fabulous voice! Look out for this tape,3 great shows from one of the worlds greatest performers Just put your feet up and enjoy, and it only cost me a fiver!
The Twilight Zone: Stopover in a Quiet Town (1964)
we got off at the wrong stopover
I first saw this episode on SCI-FI channel a few years ago I thought it was absolutely brilliant considering some negative comments about series 5. Of course I am a bit older now but it still remains one of my favourites right up there with maple street and Willoughby. Great story good acting(does'nt Barry nelson remind you of JFK) Just one complaint, surely after the fake phone, fake kitchen, fake bread, fake squirrel, fake church, fake tree, fake grass, fake driver, they wouldn't have got so excited when they saw the train just sitting there with nobody around.Nevertheless its great fun going on this journey with the characters as the suspense builds up to the climax. This is 25 minutes thats well worth your time
