Drag Race France: Un Parfum de Drag (2022)
The Passion of Lolita Banana
This episode felt like a renaissance painting: everything about it was beautiful and tragic all at once in the way that only a renaissance painting could be. From the win of Paloma, to the betrayal of Lolita Banana on the runway, to the absolutely heart-wrenching lip sync. It seemed that the stars aligned to craft the perfect Drag Race episode.
Not to mention that the runways this week were absolutely stellar (yes, that was a pun about Lolita Banana's runway).
I think this episode should go down in the herstory books as one of the best. Other franchises should take notes on how to craft an episode like this.
Drag Race France: Popstars (2022)
Bop of a Song
The song used for this challenge was great! I listen to it on repeat on Spotify. The episode was good overall too -- I'm absolutely struck by the talent of these queens! Dare I say I would like to see any one of them on a V The World Season.
Soa and La Big Bertha I think had the best verses with their powerful voices and undeniable stage presence. And though I wished they judged in teams and not individuals, I think the queens chosen for the bottom two was fair. I'm loving Drag Race France and it is cementing itself as one of my favorite spin-off franchises -- I hope you all are able to give it its flowers too!
Drag Race France: Snatch Game (2022)
Funny Snatch Game
It's difficult as an English viewer to watch a non-English Snatch Game because a lot of jokes will fly over your head because of the language barrier as well as the lack of pop culture knowledge. With that being said, I think this Snatch Game is still entertaining and makes for a great watch (La Grande Dame's joke about fruit juice still makes me laugh!).
The elimination was surprising but it really showed that no one is safe, even if coming off a win in the competition! I, personally, think that really ups the ante on the show and makes things more exciting. And knowing that France keeps this momentum going for the remainder of the season makes it even more satisfying.
Drag Race France: French Ball (2022)
Lovely Ball
The decisions this episode were wonky but not enough to take away from my enjoyment of the show! Can't wait to see more of these queens and their talent (gonna miss Briochee though).
Drag Race France: Queen Pour Cent (2022)
Great Acting Challenge
Even though I don't speak French, I thought the acting challenge was great and I could feel the queens' energy! Not to mention that lip sync was insane.
Drag Race France: Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour (2022)
Great Start
Going into Drag Race France, I was hesitant; whenever a new international franchise of Drag Race begins, there's always a certain level of anxiety because you want it be successful, but there is potential for it to turn out poorly (Down Under).
Drag Race France starts out with a great cast and an explosive talent show. It really sets the tone for the rest of the season and subsides any anxieties I might have had.
